On Tuesday we celebrated our appreciation, learning and knowledge of
Japanese culture and traditions. The dress ups were impressive and I
especially loved the headbands some students made.
The day began with the Taiko drumming performance. Some of the
feedback was;
‘Amazing!’ ‘It was sooooo loud!’ ‘One drum, so many noises’‘I want to
do that!’
After recess the students moved around four activities in mixed ability and age groups. The activities were Origami,
Koinobori, Tamaire and Hiragana bingo. These learning opportunities were incredible and the student all gained a lot.
Huge thank you for our sushi fairies (aka PFA) who ordered, packed and
delivered some students special lunches to the classroom.
Sensai Rohan Buttenshaw put a huge amount of work into this event. He is
an asset to our school and we thank him for this event- Bring
on 2020!

Friday we held our last Bike Ed session, for the grade three students. Grade four students will begin Bike Ed in term
four. Huge thanks to Mal Doswell and Tom Fielding for their help throughout the program.
This term we also had some senior students help out. Jayden, Brett, Sean and Brady. You guys are amazing and I have
loved watching you nurture and develop a love of riding amongst the grade three students. Keep it up boys!
ONE MOB
Saturday, in the early hours of the morning the 2019 Ramingining delegation arrive back into Melbourne airport. We
are super excited to hear all about their trips and see their beautiful faces. I know they have been missed
tremendously. Detailed in this newsletter are the community events when the Ramo kids are visiting our school. You will notice a
change in activities, please note these changes were unavoidable but their visit will still be one of the best and
include what they program is about- THE KIDS.
I would like to encourage every family to come along to these events. It is amazing to see our kids interacting with
the Ramo kids and we love catching up with all of our families.
Thursday night our wonderful School Council were able to participate in the annual School Council dinner. This is an
opportunity for all EDEC school council members to come together and celebrate the unity, togetherness and impact
they are able to have within each of our schools.
At tonight’s dinner we were treated to a wonderful
presentation by Sarah Johnson. Sarah, after
working in schools and wanting to do more
developed and is now running this successful
program opening up students minds to gratitude,
empathy and mindfulness.
We were all inspired and reflective during and
after hearing Sarah speak. It made me think about
our wonderful school, sensational parents but,
most importantly our remarkable students. I am
grateful I have had the opportunity to learn with
your brilliant children!
What are you grateful for? Please take some time,
as a family to share what you are grateful for.
Personally I would like to thank every student,
Parent and Grandparent who has made my time as
being Pretend Principal enjoyable. It has been an
adventure- that I have loved because of the
support and encouragement you have all provided.
This is especially true of the Staff! I am so proud to call them my colleagues and friends. We have an amazing team
here at Cockatoo and we stick together and support each other incredibly well.
Thanks Again!
