TimelineBorn 2/17/1914 in Bluefield,

West Virginia.

At the age of 15, he becomes a

preacher in 1929.

Steele moves to Atlanta, Georgia

to attend Morehouse

College in 1938 at the age of 24.

1952At the age of 38, Steele moves to

Tallahassee, where he met

MLK Jr.On May 1956, Steele formed a

bus boycott which was the

time when black people sat in the back of the bus.

In 1957, Steele helped MLK Jr. and others find the Southern

Christian Leadership Conference,

which he was the Vice President of.

C.K. Steele dies of bone marrow cancer in 1980 in Tallahassee, Florida at the

age of 66.

Accomplishments He helped form the Southern
