Main Objectives of PivNet 24 to establish direct information exchange between end users in
industry and PIV developers in universities and research institutes in order that the end users will obtain a clear picture of the state-of-the-art of the PIV technique and the developer will receive knowledge about problems in industry to be solved with PIV
4 to demonstrate the applicability of PIV for investigation of complex flow fields by performing state-of-the art presentations in industrial facilities (transonic wind tunnel, catapult tunnel, icing wind tunnel, large water towing tank, turbomachinery test rig ...)
4 to spread the knowledge and experience on PIV as gained in the area of aerodynamics during the past 15 years to other fields ofindustrial, economical and ecological interest: combustion, naval field, environmental flows, house-hold appliances, medical field …

Workshops and Presentations
• More than 22 workshops dedicated to special (industrial) applications of PIV and/or aspects of adaptations and development• Demonstrations of PIV applications in industrial facilities, test rigs and laboratory have been performed in many related presentations• More than 800 participants from research and industry have been registered during all workshops
• Database of events, reports and scientific presentations available for all Partners at http://pivnet.dlr.de/Partners

PivNet 2 – A beneficial network for the development of advanced measurement techniques for industry and research
4 The application of PIV in aerodynamic research and in different fields of technical flows provides huge data sets of quantitative information about unsteady flow phenomena. This gives a deeper insight into the governing physics and became an important tool for the assessment of flow control devices
4 PIV covers the need for data to validate Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes as the main design tools in modern (aviation) industry
4 The network enables work share and the collaboration accelerates the development of the technique itself and the dissemination of knowledge into different fields of technical flows and aerodynamics
4 The EC funded network produces outputs which strongly supports research and development especially for the European aviation industry, which would not have been achieved otherwise

4The PivNet2 network run time will end in November 2006.4Final Workshop will take place at DLR
in Göttingen on September 7-8, 2006 linked to the 12th International Symposium on Flow Visualization (ISFV) on September 10-144At the end a book with scientific papers from all
thematic research fields will be compiled within the Springer book series “Topic of Applied Physics”
