Cutting Instructions On the Linen piece, draw the boundaries (14 ½” x 17”) of the 2 end panels allowing for about a 2” mar-
gin, but do not cut. Cut the linen after the embroidery. Cutting the panels after the embroidery allows for easier hooping with the extra fabric along all sides.

Creating the Painted & Embroidered Appliqués NOTE: Watching the instructional video clips from the BERNINA web site will provide a tutorial for using the PaintWork tool as well as the Cutwork and CrystalWork tools.

Select an Edding Pen Color and insert into sleeve #4
Lower the pen guard
Hoop a piece of Stabil-Stick Stabilizer paper side up in the oval hoop and peel away the paper
Smooth one of the 12” x 16” pieces of fabric onto the stabilizer and attach the hoop
Attach the PaintWork Tool
Apply a scrap of stabilizer, such as the corner of the Stabil-Stick Stabilizer into the hoop, where the design will draw. Test the pen, and stop the machine before the pen draws off of the scrap stabilizer.
The dial on the PaintWork Tool can also be adjusted to produce a thicker or thinner line
When the test results are satisfactory, remove the test piece and begin at the beginning the paintwork design and paint Color #1.
Omit Color #2
Remove the first fabric, lay the second fabric onto the same sta-bilizer and paint color 1 onto the second fabric
Remove the PaintWork Tool and stabilizer from the hoop
Rehoop the fabric with 2 layers of Ultra Clean and Tear
Select Dori Design #12
Select the ’I’ and Rescale the design to 110%
Use Virtual Positioning (Absolute Check) to ensure the design embroiders in the middle of the painted vines. Move the design using the multi-function knobs or drag and drop.
Embroider and repeat for the second piece
Dori Design # 12 contains tufted satin elements; read the in-structions included on the CD to cut these with a craft knife.
