Students unload their backpacks, make a lunch choice and have all materials and assignments ready for the day.
Writing - 8:50 a.m. - 9:50 a.m.
Materials: Writing Notebook, Writing Folder, Word Study Folder, Grammar Instruction
Our Units: Poetry, Personal Narrative, Personal Essay, Research Based Argument Essay, Historical Fiction Story, Memoir
Social Studies and Science 9:50 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.
Social Studies:
Materials: Social Studies Notebook, Textbook, and other resources
Our Units: Cultures Meet, Establishing Colonies, From Colonies to Country, and The New Nation
Science:
Materials: Science Notebook
Our Units: Sun, Moon and Planets, Mixtures and Solutions, and Force and Motion

Orchestra -
First Year Violin/Viola: Mondays and Thursdays - 7:45 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
Second Year Violin/Viola: Mondays and Thursdays - 10:50 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.
Recess and Lunch 11:50 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Birthdays: Our grade level time for celebrating birthdays is 12:10 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. Several of our 5th grade students have peanut/tree nut allergies, so we would appreciate it if any treats brought are individually wrapped and nut free. This will allow all students to participate in our celebrations.
Reading 12:30 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.
Materials: Independent Reading Books, Book Club Books, Reading Notebook (Scrapbook)/Reading Log
Our Units: Launching Reading Workshop: Agency and Independence, Reading for Justice and Power, Nonfiction, Reading Like a Fan (Author Study), Historical Fiction, Finding the Funny
Math 1:50 p.m. - 3:20 p.m.
Materials: Math In Focus Textbook (5A and 5B), Math In Focus Workbook (5A and 5B), Math Notebook, Manipulatives, Online Math Resources accessible through the website
Homework - After SchoolUsed to reinforce skills introduced in class and a learning tool
to “spring-board” to the next lesson School Expectation:50 – 60 minutes assuming assignments in class are completed in a timely manner.
