TN this list an attempt has been made to include every

edition of every British or Colonial law report (except

American reprints). The notes are not intended to

supersede those in Soule's Lawyer's Reference Manual, and

as regards the reports dealt with in that Manual only a bare

list of different editions has been given, as a rule. But a

number of editions unknown to Soule have since been found,

and a still larger number of new Reports, more especially

Colonial Reports.

Principally by the agency of various Societies the older

cases in the King's Courts and cases in lower Courts—such

as Courts Leet—are now being made accessible. No list of

these, which are of great interest to the legal historian and

student of the evolution of our law, has hitherto been made.

80 many of them being privately issued it has been a some-

what difficult task to obtain knowledge of them, but it is

hoped that the list is complete. Extracts from local Court

rolls are printed in many local histories ; for information

regarding these, reference should be made to Gross's Biblio-

graphy of British Municipal History, and Hearnshaw's Leet

Jurisdiction in England.
