What are High Speed Regional Services ?
• Objectives– Improve utilisation of high speed infrastructures
– Offer new high level services between regional cities
• Context– TGV are dedicated to long distance trips (more than 300 km)
– Regional authorities organise suburban services (less than 50 km)
A niche for new high speed services for intermediate distance trips– Same characteristics as regional transport (timetable, fare table, services…)
– Use of high speed line to link cities
– Part of a multi-modal network

Technical characteristics of rolling stock
• “Light” weight: < 17 t axle-load
• High speed: 300-320 km/h
• Power Supply: 1,5 kV-DC, 25kV-AC et 3 kV-DC
• Signalling: aptitude to run on high speed lines
• Small capacity: 200/250 seats

Conclusion
• The main objective of the study realized by SYSTRA was to validate the new concept of High Speed Regional Services
• To reach this objective, SYSTRA has developed a specific modelling
• The new services, more comfortable and more rapid will add 50% more trips on the high speed line
