What is AREA?????
area_rectangles.flp
How would you calculate the area of this?

AREA-
Area involves the SPACE inside of a 2-D object-The units involved are ALWAYS squared
Area of a paralleogram = bh
Take note that the HEIGHT of an object is the perependicular to the base.

8.1 and 8.2- Area
ALL you are doing is applying formulas to problems to solve for a missing piece
There are certain steps that are REQUIRED: 1. Write down the BLANK formula you pick2. FILL in the info you have (as a result ONE variable should be left--that
is what you are solving for)3. Then using ALGEBRA solve for the missing variable4. Answer and units
EX. A=1/2 bh A = 1/2 (4)(6) A= 12 cm2

So piece by piece the formulas needed.......

Many of these problems require you to THINK!!!!It will not be as easy as "find the area"
Some will ask you to find the area of 2 shapes and add or subtract them.
Some will give you the Area and ask you to work backwards.
Area is 24cm2What is the base?
