Come Join Father Smith every Wednesday or Friday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. for Confessions in the Prayer Garden. He will be outside waiting for anyone that would like to stop by.
The Church teaches that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. Because of this fact, every human life is sacred. Every life is worth living. There is nothing anyone
can do to take this dignity away. All of our Catholic social teaching flows from this principle. People are more important than things.
Thank you to the Duffer’s Golf League that donated $160.00 to the St. Vincent Casserole Ministry Fund. This generous donation will feed many people in need. Thanks again!

ST. CHRISTOPHER UPCOMING EVENTS
Approaching the Election with Faith and Civility: Our times are divisive, and we – as Catholics – have an obligation to engage with our
community and political process and to do so with a well-formed conscience, a spirit of compassion, and the skills to enter conversations with civility and peace. In partnership with Braver Angels, Andrew Muskgrave from the Catholic Social Action Office of the Archdiocese will be with us to help us build skills to communicate with people who differ from us politically and explore how we can do so with our faith as our guide. Presentation will be in the Church. Wednesday, October 14 at approximately 7:30 p.m., following the Wednesday evening Mass. Come Pray and Stay for the presentation! Any questions contact Deacon Chuck at the Parish Office.
NATIONAL FAITH AND BLUE WEEKENDOCTOBER 9TH-11TH.
On Saturday, October 10th, St. John Parish will Host Officers from the Tipp City Police Department for a
public Open House from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. in our North Parking Lot. The Officers will be able to answer questions and allow you to see some of the equipment they use to accomplish their various tasks. It promises to be an informative time for people of all ages so don’t miss this opportunity. Not only on this weekend but always, please keep those in Law Enforcement in your prayers that they remain safe and that they will be able to make sound and just decisions, often in a split second. Please join us for an evening of food and entertainment in support of moms and babies on Monday, October 26, or Tuesday, October 27! There are so many other options available to moms and you are a sign of hope & love when you are present. The vigil runs daily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and we are asking for just 1 hour of your time. Please give prayerful consideration in light of our call to stewardship and the giving of our time, talent, and treasures. As often is the case, the giving of our time blesses both those we serve and ourselves. Please see the bulletin inserts for more information or contact Mark Weiss from St. Christopher Parish at 937-573-6333.

UPCOMING EVENTSCATHOLIC UPDATE for October features; God Stories – In the telling We Ourselves Are Revealed By John Shea. Just looking at the cover of this month’s Update may stir memories of times past. Sitting by the campfire telling stories especially during the crisp days of autumn can leave a lasting memory. John tells us “We all love stories. No matter our
mood – in reverie or expectation, panic or peace – we can be found stringing together incidents and unfolding episodes. We turn our pain into narrative so we can bear it…” Grab a copy of this month’s Update to learn more about what God Stories are, where we hear them, where we tell them and what they can reveal to us about ourselves. Past copies of Catholic Updates are available, please contact Deacon Chuck Wright at the Parish Office if you would like to obtain a particular update.
HELP CENTER
Little Free Library: Our Library box is getting a good number of visitors - books are going away and new ones are being dropped! Currently we are in need of either new or gently used children’s books and secular titles that are not contrary to the faith. We will also gladly accept donations of faith-based books. If you are able to make a donation to the library cause, please drop books off at the Parish Office to the attention of Deacon Chuck. The idea
of the Library was to have a positive way to draw folks onto our campus and to allow us to minister to the Community. It appears that this is happening. It was also a great way to allow materials to be available to our own people during the Pandemic when the Church was not open or for folks who are still uncomfortable coming inside.
ST. VINCENT HOTEL: Parishioners are reminded that the Hotel is in constant need of casseroles to serve the homeless guests. Completed casseroles can be placed in the Parish freezer and will be periodically delivered to the hotel by Parish volunteers. For further information, contact Mike Begley at 667-2882 or the Parish Office at
667-3419. The next opportunity to serve the evening meal to the guests at St. Vincent Hotel will be October 25th. Please meet in the North parking lot of the Church for a 5:00 p.m. departure if you would like to volunteer.
Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley is in need of ongoing volunteers for their Food Pantry that can commit to consistently work at least one day per week from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Volunteers will help with the unloading and restocking of food deliveries, preparing boxes of food for clients, and other jobs as necessary for pantry operations. Volunteers will need to be able to lift heavy boxes and be on their feet for extended periods of time. Those interested should contact Mike Hoendorf at 937-223-7217, ext. 1141 or by email at [email protected].
