MOTIONGUARD™ SAFETY BRUSHES
Objective:Use a tape measure to record measurement from the upper comb tip to the lower comb tip, tracing the nose of each step; bridging across each landing area and down its decline.
Recommendation:Use a ¾" or 1" wide steel tape measure. DO NOT use a cloth tape (Cloth or flexible tapes are not stiff enough to bridge across the nose of each step).
If measuring alone, loosen the comb plate and hook the tape measure across the back edge.
When using this method, the length of the upper and lower comb plates will need to be subtracted from your final measurement.
Measure the Escalator:One-Step Measurement:If your tape measure is long enough to measure between the upper and lower comb tips as described above, complete this measurement on your survey form as your Measured Escalator Length __________.
Two or Multiple Measurements:Start at the upper comb tip and work down. Measure to a step along the incline representing 1/2 or 1/3 of the way down the incline. Measure to the closest step nose, record the measurement and mark the step. Repeat the process measuring from the lower comb tip up the incline to the step nose of your marked step. Add the two measurements together. The sum is your Measured Escalator Length __________.
