  • Step #7 Schedule Meeting in September with church staff or key staff members to discuss options for this plan. Take these checklists and play Church staff the 30 Days of Cancer Prayer Video.

    8

  • What are other churches doing? “We have a large church with limitations for making announcements or showing videos during Sunday worship. So we are planning to share 30 Days of Cancer Prayer with one group in the church at a time. Our CC Team Members will use the 30 Days promo videos and bookmarks to invite the small groups or Bible studies they attend to register for 30 days. In addition, these groups will be invited to attend the 30 Days Kickoff event. We plan to show the Facebook Live Cancer Prayer Service Kickoff event at the church with munchies! We will begin weekly Seeing God in Your Cancer Journey meetings in mid-February.”

“Our church does not use screens during worship so we will be using the bulletin blurbs and Announcement talking points. We are very excited about the Prayer Chain and signing up people for CPP at the prayer chain/registration table. Our church prayer team is co-leading the Cancer Prayer wall with us. We are gathering at the prayer wall that will be in fellowship hall each Sunday of the event after Sunday service to pray for the names on the wall.”

“In addition to inviting the church members, our parochial school will be giving the bookmarks to every student and staff. The cancer prayer topic will be added to the class’s daily prayers.”

“Instead of showing the National Cancer Prayer Service Live on January 26th, we will be showing the video recording to our adult Sunday school classes on the following Sunday.”

    GREAT IDEAS! KEEP THEM COMING!!

    9

  • Pre-Registration Table & Registration Table Instruction BASIC IDEA: To sign people up for 30 Days and to gather their prayer requests and contact info for Community Email List.

Step #1 Place table in a high traffic area. (Suggestion - by the coffee.)

Step #2 Set up table with:

    ● Postcards ● Bookmarks ● Registration Sheets ● 30 Days 8.5x11 Posters ● 30 Days Balloons!!

Step #3 Display your Paper Cancer Prayer Chain and have direction poster and paper strips to complete with people’s name, diagnosis, role (Survivor, Patient, Caregiver, Medical professional, or In Memorial) and prayer need. Also ask for name and email to place on Community Email List.

Step #4 If people take a 30 Day Bookmark MAKE SURE you have them sign the registration sheet. If you assist them with texting “CANCER” to 57838 then make sure they click through to “register with city or church team.”

Step #5 Next day send them a thank you email for registering and give a link to your Cancer Companions page connected to the Find a Group page. (SAMPLE: https://www.cancer-companions.org/companion/immanuel-lutheran-church-2/)

  • Paper Cancer Prayer Chain Instructions

BASIC IDEA: A visual reminder of the growth of people registered to participate in 30 Days. Step #1 Start by registering CC Team, Participants, family, friends, church staff BEFORE first time you display the paper chain so it’s visually impressive. Step #2 Make one link on a paper chain for each person that registers.

    ● Use 8.5 x 11 paper. Probably thicker than copy paper. Cut into fourths lengthwise so pieces are 11 x 2.2ish.

    ● Write name of cancer prayer warrior on BLUE paper and name of prayer receiver on WHITE. Add diagnosis, role (patient, survivor, caregiver, in memorial, medical staff) on the paper link.

    ● Use a stapler and add link to the paper chain.

Step #3 Display Cancer Prayer Warrior Chain in visible area with BIG sign of 30 Day Logo and "Battling Cancer One Prayer at a Time." Room where Cancer Companions meet? Near coffee pot? In Sanctuary? Outside of church entrance? Step #4 At the end of the chain post a paper with how many Cancer Prayer Warriors so far and how many prayer receivers.

    11

  • Cancer Prayer Wall Instructions BASIC IDEA: The daily cancer prayer topic for each Sunday during the 30 days will be shared in worship or through prayer gatherings at Cancer Prayer Wall display. Prayer requests are collected through out pre-registration (One Sunday in November) and registration (January 5th-26th). Daily Prayer Topics for Each Sunday: Jan 26 Prayer for those in cancer treatment Feb 2 Prayer for cancer caregivers Feb 9 Prayer in memorial of those with cancer Feb 16 Prayer for cancer survivors Feb 23 Prayer for the medical staff Step #1 Meet with Church Staff to discuss which elements below will fit with your church community. ___ Have a prayer wall based on the 5 Sunday topics. Place sticky notes, or photos, under each topic. (See photo) ___ Continue to collect contact information for Community Email List. ___ Add this prayer topic to the community prayers said aloud that day during service. ___ Add a prayer for this topic to the prayer list in the bulletin. ___ Play video prayer of the day before or during service. ___ Announce during service that the Cancer Prayer Wall will be by the coffee to add those you know in need of that topic. ___ Announce a time after service each week that a prayer will be said at the prayer wall for all those listed for today's topic. ___ Elders, church staff, or other designated person anoint the sick with oil after service on Feb 23. Step #2 Make Prayer Wall Tape Cancer Wall Posters to wall as shown. Add prayer requests on sticky notes as needed.

    12

  • Step #3 Start Prayer Wall/Announcement/Prayer Sessions Jan 26 - Feb 23. Step #4 Church staff or elders have an opportunity to anoint the sick with oils. On Sunday Feb 23 after service? Afternoon service? Evening service? Or Monday 24th - Last day of 30 days?

Complete Display for January Registration Tables if you decide to have all components

  • 30 Day Event Sponsorship First, you have plenty to do organizing your 30 Days of Cancer Prayer event. But perhaps you know an entrepreneur or a company that might like to have their logo widely seen by your community in connection to this important event?

Our sponsorship levels include large opportunities like USA Today Ads as well as Spotify ads that touch tens of thousands of people. Picture a Spotify ad focused only on the area the sponsor determines. Nice. They can also sponsor a specific prayer leader’s daily video so each person receiving the video text that day learns about their business. Pretty fun! There is a national and a local sponsorship sheet to review in the 30 day mailing and on the webpage www.30daysofcancerprayer.com Of course, give Karen Tripp a call if you would like to learn more: 314-814-0044 and [email protected]

    MY PRAYER FOR YOU…

    Lord,

Thank you for touching the hearts of these volunteers who want to lift up people coping with cancer. Go before each of us and take our words and our deeds to reflect your love of prayer. Through this event, show us the wonders which come from your people joining together in prayer. You are our Rock and our Salvation.

In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
