The 6th Commandment

You shall not commit adultery.

Basic Value: Total fidelity in love and marriage, reflecting God’s total fidelity is essential to a responsible loving marriage and a healthy society.

Today’s Issues: 1. Mutual personal growth of both spouses has

been seen as an outcome of marriage. 2. Having children is a result of that growing

love.

What God wants us to do: ~

• Fidelity is seen as both a physical consideration as well as a manifestation of one’s entire person. • Fidelity reflects all aspects of a

relationship.

Basic Value: Depriving people of something that is rightfully theirs violates their God-given gift of freedom.

Today’s issues: 1. Stealing in any form is an infringement on a

person’s freedom. 2. There are many ways one can steal: a) racism

and sexual discrimination steal one’s dignity and livelihood; b) unfair manipulation and misuse of the world’s resources keep nations in extreme poverty.

• Jesus considered indifference and unresponsiveness in the face of another person’s urgent need as grounds which could exclude one from the kingdom.
