Memorial weekend marks the beginning of summer traveling season in America and many OLG families will travel for family meetings and for relaxation. We wish you safe travels and a wonderful time wherever you go this summer. Please remember to honor your tithing to OLG so that the church can make ends meet. Bills do not take a summer break and we must keep the OLG boat afloat together. Thank you to those who make sacrifices to gener-ously support OLG with a grateful heart. God bless you!

Cross Catholic Outreach Father Carlos Chavez of Cross Catholic Outreach will be visiting our parish next weekend to speak at all the Masses on behalf of the poor in developing countries. Cross Catholic Outreach was founded to create a mean-ingful link between parishes in America and the priest and nuns working in the Church overseas in the Carib-bean , Africa, Asia, Central and South America.

J.M.J.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me”.

(Matt 16:24) Dear Friends, Family, and Members of Our Lady of Guadalupe, I want to share my decision with you all that my second year of theology has just wrapped up and I will not be returning to seminary formation. I realize this may come as a surprise to many. I’ve implicitly had knowledge that the Lord was indi-cating this direction to me over a year ago. Throughout this year He made me more explicitly aware through my experi-ences, prayer, and discussions with my spiritual director and advisors at the seminary. I am leaving in good standing but more importantly with a peace and joy I have genuinely lacked for quite some time. I have always known that I would follow my Jesus wherever He led me whether out onto the water, the desert, or the semi-nary. I have always entrusted myself to Him and will continue to do so as I open my heart to His will elsewhere. I didn’t join the seminary because I knew I was going to be a priest but rather to see if the vocation was God’s will for my life. He has been so good to me throughout these years forming me into the Man He made me to be. That is why it was not an easy dis-cernment but rather a sincerely prayerful one. The decision doesn’t come as a result of choosing “what I want” or “what’s best for me” because it’s not about my wants but what He wants. That’s where my happiness exists. I don’t regret one second of my time in formation. I have felt nothing but love and support from our parish since I made an announcement years ago that I would be discerning the priesthood. It is also why I have had some fears of sharing this news because I know how many of you all have shared that they are proud of me in some way. But fear does not come from the Lord and because of that I write this letter to you all to say...Thank You. Thank you for your encouragement, support, and prayers. Our parish instilled in me a love for the Lord and openness to holy vocations and for that I am changed forever. To some, it may have seemed foolish for me to go to seminary; to others, it may still seem foolish that I’m choosing to discern another vocation. But I can say with St. Paul that, “We are

fools for the sake of Christ...”(1 Cor 4:10).

Gracias a Dios
