A. Introduction

The Atul Pathak Community Awards provide annual one-off donations of between £250

and £1,000 and a year-long corporate partnership to registered charities and community

groups. The Atul Pathak Community Awards are designed to support smaller charities in the UK, especially those working at grass roots and community level, in any field, across a wide

range of activities.

B. Who is Atul Pathak?

Atul Pathak is Managing Director of Appt Corporation, a

franchised group of 31 McDonald’s restaurants located

across North & West London and Berkshire. Atul established

his first McDonald’s restaurant in Hanwell in 2003.

From the start, the restaurants started supporting and

working with various local community and charity groups. Our work within our community is very much a part of our DNA and how we believe businesses should operate.

Atul is actively involved in the diverse local communities

where his restaurants operate and lends his support whenever he can. He believes that

running a business and being socially responsible are inextricably linked, which stems back

to values instilled in him since childhood. It is this philosophy which Atul carries forward in

his business and is highlighted in his motto: “We are part of the community and it is our duty

to give something back to our community.”

C. What are the Atul Pathak Community Awards?

The Atul Pathak Community Awards are the fifth annual awards which not only

support community groups but also aim to highlight and celebrate the work that community

groups do in their local areas.

Last year’s winners received a

grant and support ranging from

free food for volunteers and

use of restaurant facilities to

support from Appt

Corporation’s PR team to help

publicise their cause and events

through social media.

Each year,

Atul Pathak and Appt Corporation

hosts an awards and drinks

reception where the winners

walk away with a financial contribution to their organisation and a ‘Community Contract’ signed by Atul Pathak with

the support he pledges to give for the year. This year’s awards will be held in the Terrace Pavillion of the House of Commons in the evening of Wednesday 23rd May 2018.

The Awards

Awards are assessed and granted individually each with their own financial support

attached. Entries are accepted for all types of projects (For more information, see: D. Who

Can Apply?). How much you are applying for is not the prime concern: what you will do with

the money and how Atul Pathak and Appt Corporation is able to support you throughout the

year is what we are interested in.

What does it mean to win?

From the moment you are awarded the grant at the Atul Pathak Community Awards, Appt Corporation will be at your side to provide assistance where possible. The type of assistance

includes:

▪ Financial contribution at the awards.

▪ Contributions from organisations associated with Atul Pathak and Appt Corporation in fields ranging from PR to accounting, to assistance with promotion and back-office functions.

▪ Manpower from Appt Corporation employees and volunteers to help on winning

projects. ▪ Use of the well equipped training facility owned by Appt Corporation in Hanwell to host events. ▪ Catering for community events. ▪ Business development advice from Atul Pathak and his team.

The Awards Ceremony

The 2017 awards will be held in the Terrace Pavillion of the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster. Apart from the awards ceremony there will be an evening drinks and canapés reception. Each shortlisted organisation will be invited to attend the awards alongside charity colleagues. The event will be held on Wednesday 23rd May .

During the awards, it is not only the winners of the awards who will be announced. The

employees of the McDonald’s restaurants managed by Appt Corporation are as important to

us as our customers. We will also be recognising members of staff who have shown the most

initiative in working with our local communities throughout the year.

D. Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications for all types of projects for all types of community groups, both ‘not for

Profit’ and registered charities. Supporting the community is not about dictating what we

think the community needs, it is about supporting the needs of the community. Therefore, we do not have set criteria for the types of projects we will support.

Please note that competition for funding will be intense and based on previous years, we

anticipate many more applications than available awards.

Size of Organisation

Applications are welcomed from all charities and community groups but preference will be

given to smaller groups that often find attracting funding harder than bigger, more

established organisations. We strongly believe in supporting smaller charities as they can be very effective and deliver focused results.

P a g e |3

Geographical Boundaries

We believe that it is our duty to give something back to the community with whom we have

built a relationship over the years. With this in mind, the awards will be prioritised to those

charities and community groups who work or are based within the local communities of our

restaurants. We will prioritise applications from charities who deliver their operations within

the following London Boroughs and areas:

• London Borough of Barnet

• London Borough of Brent

• London Borough of Ealing

• London Borough of Haringey • Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea • City of Westminster • Windsor & Maidenhead

• Swiss Cottage

• Hammersmith

• Richmond

• Bracknell • Potters Bar

• Pan-London - We will also accept outstanding applications from those charities and community groups who focus their work within London.

Applications Falling Outside of our Criteria

We want to ensure that the support we provide in our partnership with charities makes a

real and tangible difference with measurable outcomes. We therefore would not normally

consider applications for funding which fall outside our criteria, these include:

Salaries

Fundraising events or challenges

Conferences or seminars

Grants to individuals, including students

Activities which collect funds for redistribution to other charities or individuals

Purchase of land or buildings

Installations to existing buildings and property (we will support refurbishments of community spaces and can get our staff involved too with extra paintbrushes!)

Overseas appeals

Expeditions or overseas travel Promotion of religion (religious charities are able to apply for non-religious projects) Sponsorship and marketing promotions

Research projects

Endowment funds

Political donations

E. How much can you apply for?

Our categories for awards are of £250, £500, £750 and £1,000 to charities which can show

that such an award and our partnership will make a significant difference to their work. If you cannot demonstrate this, your application will not be taken any further or shortlisted. Please note that demonstrating sustainability is also important, particularly if you have

recently lost local authority or other regular funding. If your application is particularly outstanding, at the discretion of the Atul Pathak Community Awards, we sometimes will support much larger projects with significant

increase in funding. This category cannot however be applied for, it is by invitation only.
