Employment Opportunity for Students: - Event Planner, West Broadway Youth Outreach [WBYO] $2,500.00 Honorarium with work from February to early June West Broadway Youth Outreach is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, and organized individual with a desire for gaining valuable experience in event planning and fundraising with a non-profit organization. West Broadway Youth Outreach is a drop-in life skills and recreational program providing a wide variety of free programming to children aged 4 and up in the West Broadway area and beyond. The Event Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing a plan for the 5ish Fun Run event, with the support of the WBYO staff, board of directors, and a committed team of volunteers. The 5ish Fun Run is the charity’s premier fundraising event, held on the first Sunday in June at Mulvey School. Roles and Responsibilities: Organizing and overseeing event logistics and administration Liaising with the City of Winnipeg, event sponsors and partners Developing and executing a plan for event marketing and promotion Working with a designer to update event registration and promotional materials Monitoring and updating the registration database Responding to inquiries from the public Reporting to the executive director and board of directors Overseeing event communications and website (with technical support from WBYO staff) Arranging and leading periodic planning meetings with committee members and WBYO staff Monitoring the program budget Ensuring all event permits are secured and city and provincial requirements are met Providing on-site event management the day of the event The ideal candidate will: Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal

The ideal candidate will:

Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal Have experience with event planning Have experience soliciting sponsorship and fundraising Have computer skills including use of email, Microsoft Office on a regular basis Have strong organization skills and ability to manage and prioritize several different tasks in any

given day Be enthusiastic and professional in working with children and their families Have a flexible schedule Work well with different personalities, populations of diverse ages and backgrounds

Assets include:

Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience as an event planner, fundraiser, and/or grant writer

Familiarity with the West Broadway neighbourhood or other inner-city communities Experience working with non-profit organizations Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

Short listed candidates will be asked to supply three references and complete a Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check.
