Marijuanaintroduction

as we further slip into this age of darkness and confusion, thewidespread use and advocation of narcotic, psychotropic, andhallucinogenic drugs has grown exponentially since the ‘free sexand drug (hippie tippie) movement’ of the mid to late 60’s. Whilemost will not deny that cocaine, LsD, and heroine are indeedillicit and extremely harmful drugs, due to gross medical, historical, socio-religious, cultural, and medicinalmisinformation coupled with the casualness and popularity ofits use (recreational and otherwise), ‘marijuana’ hasconveniently escaped such classification. To this day there is avast multitude of the general worldwide populous who insist forsocial or even religo-spiritual reasons that marijuana use is notonly harmless, but beneficial, leading to a clearer perception ofreality and a closer relationship with God.

come take a journey through the annals of time as we explore, expound upon, and argue ‘the case against marijuana.’

Q. Why ‘the case against marijuana?’ I mean, isn’tmarijuana essentially a harmless, recreational herb (drug)? a. The age is has finally arrived for ‘marijuana’ to be triedand found guilty of being precisely what it is...a verydangerous, addictive, and mind-altering herb (drug). In ancientchina where scientist believe the earliest known use of thecannabis plant has been found dating back over 10,000 years, the vast majority of the then chinese populous denounced thepsychotropic use of cannabis sativa and saw it as ‘a gateway tosin’ and an impetus to ‘demon possession.’ historians andresearchers alike speculate that such a widespread view was heldpartly due to the growing chinese interest and dedication to the‘Tao’ (the way; the cosmic truth) in which anything that contains‘yin,’ (the force of earth: the negative female principle linked tothe qualities of contraction, cold, heaviness, and wetness) suchas marijuana, was regarded with contempt since it enfeebled thebody (and attacked the mind) when ingested (eaten, inhaled, smoked). Only substances filled with ‘yang,’ (the force ofheaven: the positive male principle linked to the qualities ofexpansion, heat, lightness and dryness) the invigorating principlein nature, were looked upon favorably. “Marijuana is hallucinogenic. Feelings of being ‘high’ or‘down’ may be experienced. Thought processes may bedisturbed. Time, space, distance and sound may bedistorted. Confusion and disorientation can result fromits use. Reflexes are slowed. And it has been known toproduce psychosis. With this description of the effectsof its use it must be stated that any use of marijuana isthe misuse of a drug.” (“Social Values, American Youth, and Drug Use,” E. D. Mattmiller).

Physiologically speaking, Thc (delta-1-tetrahydrocannabinol),the psychoactive chemical in marijuana which produces

hallucinogenic effects in humans is known and documented todestroy brain cells and retard the body’s neurotransmitters whichserves as a catalyst to schizophrenia, depression, memory lost, motor incoordination, decreased sexual drive, and the like. soas you can see, marijuana is far from being ‘harmless.’“As the abuse pattern grows, the chronic user developsinertia, lethargy and indifference. Even if he does nothave psychotic or pseudopsychotic episodes or begin acriminal or violent existence, he becomes a blight tosociety. He ‘indulges’ in self-neglect. And even thoughhe may give the excuse that he uses the drug because itenlarges his understanding of himself, it is the drugexperience, not his personal development, which is hisprincipal interest.” (“Marijuana: Social Benefit or SocialDetriment?” Bloomquist).

Q. I have a friend who is a rastafarian and another one whois very spiritual, and they both speak of the holiness ofmarijuana. It was even explained to me that the prophets of oldsmoked ‘the wisdom weed,’ and that marijuana is God’s gift tomankind, ‘the healing of the nations,’ so to speak. I have alsoheard that the cannabis plant actually sprouted on Kingsolomon’s grave. a. While the Monastery of Illumination and Temple of theetherians have a great deal of respect for the rastafarianmovement as well as anyone embarking on a spiritual path todiscover their god-self, there is absolutely nothing ‘holy’ or‘sacred’ about marijuana. all myths and falsehoods aside, nowhere in el’s holy scriptures or related sacred texts i.e. theKebra Negast, the Fetha Negast, etc., is there mention of anyprophet of God partaking of marijuana or any reference tomarijuana growing on King solomon’s grave. In fact truerastafarians (Nazarites rzn) don't ingest any substance (drug,

herbal, or otherwise) that intoxicates the mind, heart, body orsoul. (The holy Bible, Numbers 6:3-5).“The Ethiopian Orthodox (Tewahedo) Church (of Ethiopia)does not condone or support marijuana use. Neither doesit condone or support liquor or tobacco use. Orthodoxmonks have learned over centuries of experience that suchshortcuts are at best dangerous and at worstsoul-destroying. Know ye not that ye are the temple ofGod, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If anyman defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; forthe temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”(An Interview with the Venerable Getahun Atlaw, Archdeaconof the Ethiopian Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, Israel byCharles Bryant-Abraham, PhD, The Hon. Knight de Bryan,OAA)

It must also be noted that haile selassie, former emperor ofethiopia, and defender of the christian faith, outlawed the useof marijuana in ethiopia as a crime punishable byimprisonment. Marcus Garvey also campaigned againstmarijuana as he perceived it to be a hindrance to the keen mindnecessary for african liberation. (“could rastas and christiansreally Unite?” William David spencer, Professor of Theology,Gordon-conwell Theological seminary, Boston, 2003).

contrary to popular myth the word ‘marijuana’ or any phrase, term, utterance, expression or its equivalent thereof does notappear one single time in el’s holy scriptures. Unfortunately, due to gross misinformation postulated on a regular basis by‘folk etymologists,’ many have been fooled into believing thatthe hebrew/amharic word ‘kan(an)’ ank mentioned in variousplaces throughout the scriptures (Genesis 9:20-21; Deuteronomy22:9; exodus 22:5; Psalms 107:37; etc.) as well as in the KebraNegast means ‘marijuana’ when it actually translates ‘plants of(or to plant) a vineyard.’ The same can be said for the word‘herb’ bq6 ‘eseb [meaning: to glisten (or be green); grass (or

shoot)], which can be found in Genesis 1:29-30 as well as Psalms104:14. (“The New strong's complete Dictionary of BiblicalWords,” James strong, LL.D., s.T.D.; “The Oxford english-hebrew Dictionary,” Oxford centre for hebrew and Jewishstudies (corporate author), N. s. Doniach (editor) and ahuviaKahane (editor);“enyclopaedia Judaica 5,” 1997; “english-amharic Dictionary,” amsalu aklilu and G. P. Mosback, addisababa: Oxford University Press, 1973).And God said, Behold, I have given you every herbbearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a treeyielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to everybeast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and toevery thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein thereis life, I have given every green herb for meat: and itwas so. (The Holy Bible, Genesis 1:29-30)

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb forthe service of man: that he may bring forth food out ofthe earth.(The Holy Bible, Psalms 104:14)

Unfortunately many ‘religious stoners’ use the above scripturalquotes to justify smoking or ingesting cannabis on the basis thatmarijuana is one of the green herbs God gave to man for hismeat. If one follows this erroneous line of reasoning then whynot smoke or ingest ‘green hellebore;’ ‘belladonna;’ ‘dogpoison;’ ‘monkshood’ ‘rue;’ ‘scotch broom;’ or ‘woodruff’ on aconsistent basis, each of which is a green herb (albeitpoisonous) bearing seed just like marijuana?

Lastly, for those who will take whatever long reach passcommon sense that they can to find some religious justificationto partake of marijuana, it must be noted that the mention of‘incense burning’ and the use of ‘incense’ thereof in el’s holy

scriptures does in no way give credence to the commonpostulated pseudology that the ‘incense’ referred to is really acryptic reference to cannabis use. In hebrew, the word for‘incense’ is r4k qatar, which literally means ‘fumigation in aclose place’ (and thus driving out the occupants); i.e. to turn intofragrance by fire (especially as an act of worship): to burnincense as a sacrifice upon an altar. Not one place in el’s holyscriptures does it state that marijuana was burned or offered asa sacrament or sacrifice to God. On the contrary, in mostinstances when the ‘burning of incense’ is mentioned in el’sholy scriptures it is followed by the hebrew word hnbllebonah, which literally translates, ‘the whiteness of its smoke,’i.e. frankincense. (“The New strong's complete Dictionary ofBiblical Words,” James strong, LL.D., s.T.D.; “The Oxfordenglish-hebrew Dictionary,” Oxford centre for hebrew andJewish studies (corporate author), N. s. Doniach (editor) andahuvia Kahane (editor); “enyclopaedia Judaica 5,” 1997;“english-amharic Dictionary,” amsalu aklilu and G. P.Mosback, addis ababa: Oxford University Press, 1973). The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron wasseparated, that he should sanctify the most holy things,he and his sons for ever, to burn incense beforethe LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his namefor ever.(The Holy Bible, 1 Chronicles 23:13)

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having agolden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saintsupon the golden altar which was before the throne. Andthe smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers ofthe saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’shand.(The Holy Bible, Revelation 8:3-4) as you can see, after all has been said, done, and revealed,‘marijuana’ or ‘cannabis sativa’ is a highly poisonous herb (drug)

that adversely affects the human mind and body, and acts as animpetus to emotional and spiritual blindness. In truth historymakes evident the fact that the smoking and eating of marijuanaactually has its origins in the demonic (blood) rites and (humansacrificial) rituals associated with the worship and cult of thefallen goddess, i.e. KaLI, whose counterpart is the ferocious andsensual canaanite goddess, aNaTh, known in hebraic traditionsas LILITh, in sumerian as TIaMeT, in south african asWaTaMaraKa, in Germany as Freya, et al. (“a Field Guide toDemons, Fairies, Fallen angels, and Other subversive spirits,”carol K. Mack and Dinah Mack, 1998).“Kali-Ma, the most ancient goddess still worshiped in theworld today is the Mother of Life and Death. Her worshipstretches back into pre-history, and is believed topredate that of her more well-known consort Shiva, thelongest continually worshiped god on earth. Both Shiva andKali are strongly associated with marijuana. Kali isgenerally depicted with a girdle of human arms and a neck-lace of skulls, and represents the dark aspect of the god-dess trinity of virgin-mother-crone. Both ancient andmodern devotees of Kali partake of marijuana in variousforms as a part of their worship. Devotional ceremoniesto Kali involve cannabis ingestion and ritual sex.”(“Marijuana and the Goddess,” Chris Bennet, 1998).

“The Goddess Kali has black skin. She wears a necklace ofhuman heads and has a girdle of hands. She hasearrings made out of little children. These have all beencut off from those she has killed. Her mouth is wide openas if to devour the entire creation. She possesses redteeth in her open mouth. Her face, though smiling, isstained with blood falling from both corners of her mouth. She has a flaming tongue which can lick up the blood ofthose she kills before it can even hit the ground. TheGoddess Kali screams terribly when killing. Her scream hasa mysterious supernatural quality to it. It seems to comefrom everywhere and penetrates everything most powerfully. She has well-developed breasts. Sometimes they areattractive and normal and sometimes they are long andthin. Kali has eight hands. They hold weapons and symbols

of power, although one hand is always raised in blessing. She has disheveled hair and three bloodshot eyes. One eyeis in the center of her forehead. Images of the GoddessKali show hand movements and postures indicating actionand dynamism. She symbolizes the emotions of terror andrepulsion.” (“Kali, the Black One,” Wendell E. Wilkinson).
