2. Where They Lived Chumash lived along the Pacific Ocean. Lived in the Cuyama Valley and Transverse Mountain Ranges. South Chumash lived in Gabrielino, also known as the Tongva. 3. What They Ate Ate fish. Hunted animals. 4. Where They Built Villages Built villages around fresh water. Built homes with willow branches bent and tied into dome shaped frames. 5. What They Were Good At Chumash were expert traders and great canoe builders. Chumash also built dug out canoes and canoes made out of Tule. 6. What Kinds Of Legends They Told Chumash Indians often told legends about how things in the world worked. 7.
