“Thank you for doing a very professional job on my roof. I am not easily pleased with most contractors, ASC is the exception! Your crew was on time, sometimes even early. There are no leaks and it looks great. ASC was not the cheapest, which proves you get what you pay for.”

Liz Johnson will be the Social Co-Chairperson. She and her husband, Greg, have been here in Amber Glades since 2011. Liz has served as treasurer and as Social Chairperson in the past, and looks forward to serving as Co-Chair with Hazel this coming year. She says that their neighbors here in Amber Glades have become awesome friends that both she and Greg cherish.
Arline Horslin has volunteered as Secretary of the Social Committee. Arline and her husband, Don, have been in the park since 1995. First as renters, and then as owners. enjoyed crafting and decorating and tries to work with the Chairperson of each event to reflect their vision and style in the decorations for the clubhouse. She is very flexible, frugal and a lot of fun!
Jackie LaFountain is your FMO Representative. She and her husband, George, have lived in Amber Glades for only 2 years. In that time, Jackie has gotten involved in several events and activities. An advocate of FMO, Jackie is spreading the word about the advantages of FMO membership for mobile home owners.
Randi Sandford is back editing the Monthly Media Newsletter. She and her husband, Richard, have lived in the park 4 years. Before moving in they were full-time RVer’s for 9 years. They are formerly from Perrysburg, OH and still travel back as often as possible to check up on their 3 boys.
Richard Sandford continues to produce Channel 95/732. See Randi’s bio above for his information.
Irene Pehl leads Line Dancing at Amber Glades. She and her husband, Bernie, have lived in the park for 24 years and has volunteered for many events. Twenty two of those years Irene has filled the clubhouse with line dancing fun.
Faye Rahrig facilitates the Amber Glades craft group. Faye and Don, her husband, have been snowbirds for 12 years. In the summers, they divide their time between Northwest Ohio and Canada. Faye says she has met many interesting people while enjoying the ladies that share their crafts each week.
Sharon Kachinski chairs the Color Your Heart Out group and is also “the blood pressure lady”. Sharon and her husband, Dennis, have lived in Amber Glades since 2005. Originally from Michigan, she moved to Florida back in 1982. Caregiver, cat sitter and dog walker are a part of Sharon’s resume.
Herb and Rose Hendershot are the Amber Glades Koffee Klatch hosts and the Kitchen Managers. They moved to the Villages in 1998 from Ohio and into Amber Glades in 2007 to be closer to their son, who resides in Gulfport, and friends Hazel and Richard Holliday. Rose is glad to be back, helping out with Kitchen Manager duties.
Richard “Doc” Holliday will be chairing our golf league this coming year. Watch this fall for information on the upcoming golf season. The Amber Glade folks are on the links twice a week.
Cyndi Conley is our Welcome Chairperson. She plans to have a team of people helping her extend friendship to all new residents in Amber Glades.
Ed and Karen O’Neal are the Shuffleboard Chairpersons. Organizing the group, keeping track of scores and making sure the courts are ready are a few of the things necessary to get ready for shuffleboard each week and the O’Neal’s do it well.
Diane Nance organizes the Amber Glades Library. She does a wonderful job keeping the library neat and organized. The library is extensive for this size park and readers can always find something of interest. “New” books are donated daily.
Donna and Ray Miller run our Monday night BINGO at Amber Glades. The job of keeping all the aspects of BINGO flowing smoothly is not easy, but the Miller’s make it look like it is. They handle everything from caller schedules, card sales, to the snack schedule and more.

PARK MAILBOXES
Everyone should have a park mailbox to receive bulletins and even this newsletter from the park office or the Social Committee. You don’t want to miss out on information about upcoming events or maintenance within
the park. A small mailbox or basket near the front of your coach will suffice. Having it under the carport will protect papers from the weather. If you have any questions regarding this “park” mailbox contact ML Faiola, Lot 13. 410-610-9673.
flash mob……noun……A large public gathering at which people perform an unusual or seemingly random act and then disperse, typically organized by means of the internet or social media.
Amber Glades flash mob: mark your calendar, fix a brown bag lunch, grab your neighbors and meet for lunch at Philippe Park, 2525 Philippe Pkwy, Safety Harbor 34695 on Thursday, May 3, 2018. NOON Watch for the American Flags.

RESIDENT’S DINNER
Old and new residents attended the resident’s dinner which was hosted by the HOA Board and Social Committee on March 25, 2018.
There were approximately 126 present and an additional 20 dinners were prepared for takeout. Everyone enjoyed good food and conversations with their neighbors on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. What better way to spend the day?
Thank you to HOA Board and the Social Committee for making it a great event. Special thanks to Sharon Reed, Don and Faye Rahrig and all who helped set up, serve and clean up.
Hope to see you all next year!
MYSTERY LUNCH REVEALEDRandi Sandford
Mystery solved! Pete and Shorty’s was the destination of the March Mystery Lunch. A record breaking 54 people attended the event and it went fabulously! That is, if you don’t count the car full of people who got lost and arrived 20 minutes after everyone
else. Not to worry…..they received their food FIRST (figure that one out). By the way, I hear they also got lost on the way back.
A big thanks to everyone who has supported the Mystery Lunches this year. We are planning the next one for Thursday, September 20th. If you have a “nitchy” little place to suggest for future lunches, please let me know, so I can check them out. Randi 419-261-6518.
FRANK and DEAN WRAP-UPHazel Holliday
Once again we enjoyed the show Frank and Dean put on for our St. Patrick’s Day. There were 109 tickets sold and we had a great 50/50 drawing of $300. $150.00 was
given away in prize money.I think everyone had a great time and I am happy to say, they will be coming back again
next year.

HELLO EVERYONE….My name is Deborah Shrader. Lot #214, is where my little “condominium” is.
As I start a new chapter in my life, I’m looking forward to having more time for my hobbies and making new friends.
Oil painting has always been my favorite hobby! It’s easy, it’s relaxing and it’s always gratifying to see your finished work. I’m hoping to find others here with the same interest. If so, please call me at 724-422-5585, or just stop over and look at my work and talk about what you like to do.
Hoping for interest……Deborah Shrader
Day Tripping
We are off on another adventure. This time we are on a shopping spree to IKEA. Have you been there? If you have, you know it's an easy 2-3 hour visit. If you haven't experienced IKEA, it's time you did!
Walking in the front door, make sure you pick up a free measuring tape and pencil and paper. You'll need those to keep track of what you want. We have discovered that taking a picture of an item you like and a second picture of the tag that tells you it's location for pick up works well and you can skip the pencil and paper.
Now it's up the escalator or elevator to the “start line”. Browse thru the many living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and more. Just follow the winding path taking you deep into the bowels of the store......finding more and more as you progress. Nothing to pick up or carry along on this floor....just things to look at.
Finally you reach the end....what you think is the end. There is the cafeteria in front of you. Hope you haven't had lunch yet. The most talked about item are the Swedish meatballs, but the cafeteria style services offers many items.
After your break is over, travel down the warehouse sized elevator to the bottom floor. Best that you pick up a shopping bag (just in case) and a cart that accommodates the bag. Then once again head onto the path that leads you through all the shelves, barrels, crates etc., that hold all the gadgets you saw upstairs sitting around. Everything you need to furnish a home and more. Things you may not even know what they are or that anyone needs!
Just when you think it will never end you find yourself in a warehouse with shelves from floor to ceiling. If you've chosen to buy a chair, mattress, bed, shelves, armoire or anything from upstairs here's where YOU pick it up and why you've written down (or taken pictures of) the tags. Load it up (you can ask for help) and you are off to the checkout.
But wait......over to your right is the scratch and dent center. Worth a look, just in case.On the other side of the checkout is a snack bar...and Swedish meatballs for sale. Then out
into the sunlight again (or rain, depending on the day).Love it or hate it, IKEA is a one stop store to furnishing an entire home. Quality goods at
reasonable prices. Now to go home and put it together!Get out and explore! We’ll be looking for you on our next adventure.Randi(P.S. I got my 10,000 steps in today!)

Health benefits of coffee for (almost) everyone
Is coff ee good for you? Bad? The arguments go on and on, but a meta-analysis of 127 stud-ies on the question by the University of Catania in Italy has found that drinking coff ee is associated with the following health benefi ts:
• Decreased risk of breast, colorectal, colon, endometrial and prostate cancers, among others, from 2-20 percent depending on the cancer type.
• Five percent reduction in risk for cardiovascular disease.• An approximately 30 percent lower risk for both Type 2 diabetes and
Parkinson’s disease, thanks to coff ee’s ability to improve enzymes that regu-late glucose and insulin metabolisms.
• A lower death rate.
Coff ee’s natural antioxidants reduce free radicals that can damage cells and cause aging. It’s also an anti-infl ammatory that calms you down so you don’t overact to stress.
One group that should avoid coff ee, however, is pregnant women. Coff ee, the study notes, can increase the risk of miscarriage.
Be ready to donate
Are you nervous about donating blood or signing up to be an organ donor? You don’t have to be. An infographic from Work The World explores some of the common mis-conceptions about blood and organ donations. They include:
• Age. There is no age limit on organ donations. In fact, the oldest known donor to date was a Scottish woman of 107 who donated one of her corneas after death. The main factor is the health of the organ and the donor.
• Organs. A single organ donor can improve or save up to eight lives. Donating tissue can save even more.
• Blood type. All blood types are needed, even the most common ones.
• Tattoos. Got a tattoo? That won’t prevent you from donating blood as long as you’re otherwise healthy.
