The port is a joint Sino--Australian venture,exporting refined manganese ore in barges which arecarried out to a special trans--shipment vessel forcross loading and shipment to China.


1 The port is approached through a buoyed channel,which is entered between Nos 1 and 2 buoys inposition 204383S 1161000E. This channel leads toa number of anchorages (see below).
