Dear Parents and Friends,
CONGRATULATIONS
At an in-house assembly held on Tuesday 3 March, a proud group of students were badged to officially
acknowledge their election to the position of House Captains. The Captains will assist staff and students to
ensure that our fitness programmes, sports and physical education days run smoothly. We all look forward
to seeing these students discharging their duties as conscientiously as possible. Well done:
FRASER HOUSE CAPTAINS : Beneta Rose and Jacob Fitzgerald
FREEMAN HOUSE CAPTAINS: Daniela Schiaffini and Maddison Turner
HOPMAN HOUSE CAPTAINS: Carter Wawatai and Chloe Horton
BRADMAN HOUSE CAPTAINS: Tahnee Neesham and Fletcher Brookes
Also badged at this Assembly were our IT Monitors. These
children were selected by Mrs Salomon and Mrs Williams
because of their particular interest and aptitude in the IT area.
The fact that they are extremely reliable and keen to discharge
their duties to the best of their ability was also factored in. Well
done to:
Mia Litzow, Nathanael Gale, Cyrine Mangyan and Kayhem

Students in the pre-compulsory year of schooling (Kindergarten) will be offered a place subject to meeting the immunisation requirements for enrolment. The Department of Education’s selection process for places in Kindergarten for local intake schools is as follows:
If there is more than one student in any of the above categories, priority will be given to students living closest to the school, measured in a straight line from place of residence to the school. Kindergarten places are not offered on a “first come, first served” basis.

Money's Worth What you'll need Coins, grocery store coupons, and a pencil What to do 1. Coin clues. Ask your child to gather some change in his or
her hand without showing what it is. Start with amounts of 25 cents or less. Ask your child to tell you how much money and how many coins there are. Guess which coins are being held. For example, "I have 25 cents and 3 coins. What coins do I have?"
2. Clip and save. Cut out grocery store coupons and tell how much money is saved with coins. For example, if you save 20 cents on detergent. Ask your child what could be purchased using the savings from the coupon. A pack of lollies? A pencil? How much money could be saved with 3, 4, or 5 coupons? How could that money be counted out in coins and bills? What could be purchased with those savings? A pack of notebook paper? A magazine? How much money could be saved with coupons for a week's worth of groceries? How would that money be counted out? What could be purchased with those savings? A book? A movie ticket? What percentage of the original price is the coupon worth?
3. Count the ways. How many ways can you make 10 cents, 25 cents, 30 cents, 40 cents, or 50 cents? You can help your child add the coins in various ways to get different answers.
4. Try playing the coin games with coins from another country.

Parent Pointer
Coin games help children to learn the value of coins. They also teach counting, addition, subtraction, and
multiplication. Coupons can help teach children money management, as well as subtraction and percentages.

Anne Hamersley Primary School Updates from your P&C Association
We have commenced the School Colour Explosion™ Run which is as a major fundraiser this term so we do ask for your support. The more money we raise the more we can provide for the students through vital school projects, in particular, new playground equipment.
The School Colour Explosion™ Run will be held on 20th March 2020 starting at 2pm. We do ask that you bring a spare change of
clothes to school, most importantly a plain white shirt as the students will be covered in powder from head to toe. The day’s focus is
on fun and fitness with the added benefit of raising funds for our school.
COLOUR POWDER: The colour powder used in our event has been sourced direct from India, the home of Holi Powder. It is made
of high quality corn starch and permitted food colours. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, skin safe and environmentally friendly. Toxico-
logical Risk Assessment and ingredient listings can be obtained from the School Office upon request. Students with asthma are ad-
vised to be careful in their decision to participate.
HOW DOES MY CHILD FUNDRAISE? Students have now received a Sponsorship Form with instructions on how to raise money and order prizes. Students obtain donations in cash using the Sponsorship Form together with online fundraising. Students who raise as little as $10 or more will receive an incentive prize for their efforts. But why not aim higher? You have the option to choose up to five (5) prizes and this will set your fundraising goal. Family and friends are your greatest supporters, so ask them first for your support. You will reach your fundraising goal in no time.

some great features like creating your own avatar, selecting your prize goal and recording your sponsorships.
You can also register for online fundraising. It’s the easiest way to help your child raise money and to reach your fundraising goal
sooner. You can share your fundraising page to family and friends through Facebook, Twitter, email and even text message with a
few simple clicks.
