BACKGROUND Facebook have launched Timeline for Brand Pages set to
become implemented across all Pages as of March 30th 2012
Several changes need to take place to your Facebook pages to prepare for the change
Tug have identified four key changes you need to make on the 30th of March in order to make the most out of Facebook Timeline
FACEBOOK TIMELINE The reason Facebook
are making this change is to make Pages interesting and easy to explore
Everything now gets a date on your Timeline running down the centre of the Page which you can change and amend
Facebook changes from posting to a “wall” to posting to your “Timeline – neatly diarising everything
WAIT BEFORE SWITCHING! Facebook gives you the option to switch right away, however
we recommend you wait until the 30th of March to give Facebook time to iron out any bugs or problems on the Page
If you have already made the switch, don’t worry - the following four changes are still applicable

1. NO DEFAULT LANDING PAGES Default Landing Pages are going away which means that if you
have a custom landing page tab installed on your page, your visitors will no longer land on it automatically
All traffic to your main page URL will land directly to the main page with a cover image
Your visitors will have to click the app icon below the large Timeline cover to access it
We can also send traffic directly to those apps if we want (via PPC)
2. NEW COVER IMAGE & PIN STATUS
Build a cover image that represents your brand – this will be the first item visitors see on your Facebook Page
“Pin” a status to the top of the Page to have it permanently appear as the top story on your Timeline
3. REORGANISE YOUR APPS Prioritise three
apps (or landing pages) along the top strip of your page
Consider a welcome app or a call to action for the top placement
12 tabs can be added to a Page overall
4. HIGHLIGHTS AND MILESTONES
Detail key events in your company history and narrate it with a photograph and appropriate date e.g. when your company was founded
Consider images or links relevant to these key events
Highlight updates that provide a special offer and showcase the content to appear significantly larger on your Page’s Timeline
