Walk for Life West Coast 2016: Join fellow pro-lifers as we stand up for women and the littlest among us at the 12th Annual Walk for Life West Coast (www.walkforlifewc.com) in San Francisco on January 23, 2016. The pre-walk rally begins at 12:30 p.m. in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, and the walk down the city’s Market Street, begins at 1:30 p.m. St. Lu-cy’s is taking a bus. Holiday Bulletin Deadline Announcement:
The third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called “Gaudete Sunday” or to say it plainly “REJOICE!!!” The anticipation of our Christmas celebration is coming ever closer as we wait. It is hard to wait and rejoice at the same time. Yet, we do rejoice because our wait has a greater meaning than just another day to come. We wait in the joyful anticipation of love coming and filling our lives in the person of Jesus Christ. We wait with joy because we have received the gift of love through our life as holy children of God.
During Advent, our preparation to rejoice in our Lord Jesus can often become muddled by the many tasks, parties and other activities that seem to eat into the small amount of time that we have. During this
Year of Mercy, we may choose to look once more at the works of mercy, both Corporal and Spiritual. The 6th Corporal Work is the Ransom the Captive. We are reminded that captivity can be to many things including loneliness and hyper-activity. Look around you today and rejoice in the freedom of God’s love and take time to ransom someone from their hardship with a kind word, a hug or the gift of a few moments of silence and rest by sharing the burdens of life with them.
We rejoice because God calls us into a unity of love where we hold the author of all life in our heart in the gift of Jesus in word and in Sacrament.

To honor St. Lucy’s parish being in Campbell for 100 years, the parish is placing a specially made plaque at the entrance of the Church doors facing Winchester Blvd. This plaque will reside in front of the statue of St. Lucy, whose feast day we celebrate today. Here’s what the plaque will read:

Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help: The Wednesday Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is cancelled for the remainder of the year and will resume with the first Wednesday Novena-Mass next year on January 6, 2016.
SIMBANG GABI (Nine-Day Novena of Dawn Masses) The "Simbang Gabi", a devotional nine-day Novena of dawn Masses before Christmas Day will begin on Wednesday, De-cember 16 until Thursday, December 24. The nine-day daily dawn masses are celebrated in English and start at 5:30AM. Set within the season of Advent, Simbang Gabi invites participants to heighten their preparation for the birth of Jesus, as well as honor the Blessed Virgin. Everyone is invited to at-tend and experience this nine-day devotion. Breakfast reception at the PAC will follow after each dawn mass.

El tercer domingo de Adviento es tradicionalmente llamado "Domingo Gaudete" o para decirlo clara-mente "Alégrate". La anticipación de nuestra celebración de la Navidad se acerca cada vez más mientras esperamos. Es difícil esperar y alegrarnos al mismo tiempo. Sin embargo, nos alegramos porque nuestra espera tiene un significado mayor. Esperamos en la anticipación gozosa del amor que viene y llena nuestras vidas en la persona de Jesucristo. Esperamos con alegría porque hemos
recibido el don de amor a través de nuestra vida como hijos santos de Dios.
Durante el Adviento, nuestra preparación para la llegada del Señor Jesús a menudo se confunde con muchas tareas, fiestas y otras actividades que comen la pequeña cantidad de tiempo que tenemos. Durante este Año de la Misericordia, podemos optar por ver una vez más las obras de misericordia, tanto corporales y espirituales. El sexto trabajo corporal es la salvación del cautivo. Se nos recuerda que el cautiverio puede ser por muchas cosas, incluyendo la soledad y la hiperactividad. Mire a su alrededor hoy y alégrese con la libertad del amor de Dios y tome el tiempo para rescatar a una persona de sus dificultades con una palabra amable, un abrazo o el regalo de unos momentos de silencio y reposo al compartir las cargas de la vida con ellos.
Nos alegramos porque Dios nos llama a una unidad de amor donde guardamos al autor de toda la vida en nuestro cora-zón en el don de Jesús en la palabra y en el sacramento.

Simbang GABI (Nueve días de misas): El "Simbang Gabi", un devocional de nueve días de novena de Misas al amanecer antes de Navidad comenzará el miércoles 16 de diciembre hasta el Jueves, 24 de diciembre. Las Misas son diarias y se celebran en Inglés a las 5:30am. El Simbang Gabi invita a los participantes que aumenten su preparación en el adviento para el nacimiento de Jesús, así como honrar a la Santísima Virgen. Todos están invitados a asistir y disfrutar de esta devoción. Habrá recepción en el PAC después de cada Misa.

Does your child need reading, writing and homework help?
In January, St. Lucy’s Church will start offering tutoring and assistance to students of ele-mentary school, who are struggling in reading and writing. Support with homework and study skills will also be provided.
If you are interested your child participate in this program, please fill an application and turn it at the Parish office. Submitting an application does not guarantee your child’s acceptance into the program. Students with the highest need (based on report card information) will be selected. If your child is ac-cepted, you will be contacted by January 15th,, 2016. Fee for the program is $20.00
