“Pope John Paul II’s teachings on the theologyof the body are such a goldmine, with so manyrich veins to explore, that new treasures emergeevery time they are studied.” Janet E. Smith

“Working through John Paul II’s theology of thebody is not easy, but it is rewarding. As readerscome to a deeper understanding of the pope’smessage, I pray that they will grow inappreciation for the gift of their bodies, for lifeitself, and for a pope who reveals so brilliantlythe beauty of our faith.”Fr Richard M. Hogan

I am very pleased that the 3rd InternationalTheology of the Body Symposium is taking placein the Diocese of Westminster, at St Mary'sUniversity College, Twickenham.

No doubt the exploration of the goodness, truthand beauty of human sexuality by theConference's eminent participants will enrich thestill unfolding understanding of the pastoralrelevance of Pope John Paul's witness to thedignity of the human body, which God hascreated to share in nothing less than his ownglory. Aided by the powerful intercession of theServant of God John Paul II, may the Conferencebe successful in "Seeking God's plan for loveand life."

Vincent NicholsArchbishop of Westminster

Conference Purpose and GoalsPope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body is receivingever greater attention, as more and more people areseeing and experiencing its ability to enrich their lives,marriages and families. Building on the first and secondInternational Symposia (Gaming, Austria 2007;Maynooth, Ireland 2009), this 3rd InternationalSymposium in London, 3-5 June 2011, will present aprofound reflection on the text of the Pope just onemonth after his beatification.

An international gathering of some of the world’s bestscholars and enthusiasts, the Third InternationalSymposium will seek to deepen and broaden theunderstanding of Theology of the Body by exploring awide range of themes within it. Topics to be developedinclude:

Showing how Theology of the Body reveals the innermeaning of marriage and family;

Discovering themes in Theology of the Body which arefoundational for authentic bioethics.
