3D PRINTED ARTIFICIAL BONE GRAFTS AS SILICON

REPLACEMENT

OUR IDEA: • TO REPLACE EXISTING GOLD STANDARD METHOD OF SILICON

IMPLANTS IN FACIAL ESTETIC AND RECONSTRUCTION SURDGERY BY INTRODUCING NOVEL MATERIAL AND NOVEL METHOD OF IMPLENTATION VIA 3D BIOPRINTING

PROJECTIONS OF GLOBAL COSMETIC IMPLANTS MARKET SIZE

• "Global Cosmetic Implants Market Size, Share And Trends Report Up To 2020 : Radiant Insights To 2020“ made projection of 9,29 Billion by 2020. • According to estimates published by the American Society of Plastic

Surgeons in 2013, residents of the U.S. spent nearly USD 7.0 billion in cosmetic surgical procedures • Facial Implants are expected grow at a lucrative rate during the

forecast period owing to increasing popularity of celebrities, who in turn motivate younger generation to look aesthetically appealing.

“GOLD STANDARD” OF FACIAL SURDGERY

• SILICONE IMPLANTS MOST POPULAR IMPLEMENTATION IN ESTETIC PLASTIC SURDGERY IS CHEEK, CHIN AND MANDIBULAR IMPLANTS:

Mandibular and male cheek silicon implants

Screw attachment of silicon implants and lose attachment to the bone makes them impact and stress sensible

Because of drawbacks of silicone material properties and technique of implantation many complications may occur • Rate of rejection of silicone implants is estimated from 1:7 to 1:9 in

different works • Problems can also occur after impact in region of implant

Silicone implants replacement with hydroxyapatite based scaffold • Aim of our project is to replace silicone implants in facial surgery with

hydroxyapatite (artificial bone) scaffold• For that purpose we have tested novel material, ALBO-OS, that is proven

better than current gold standard artificial bone Bio-Oss®: • Jokanović V., ČolovićB., Marković D., Petrović M., Jokanović M., Milosavljević P., Sopta

Main advantages: our material / silicone implants • Practically no rejection / 1:8 or worse rejection rate• Osteointegration and osteoinductivity / osteoresorption • High stability and impact resistance / lower stability and low impact

resistance • Vascularization and remodeling (complete integration of graft in to

organism) / can not integrate and have to be replaced in time

• As you can see in the links on the previous page our team has top results on the SCI index list. Laboratory for anthropology is the best ranking laboratory in our University and results of prof. Vukoman are visible both in Laboratory for materials of Institute for Nuclear Sciences Vinca and in private enterprise through cooperation with top ranking companies.

• Equipment in our possession in worth around 400.000 E and includes micro CT for estimating bone microstructure, CT, CBTC and so on.
