Terms and Guidelines

The business provider:

1. Agrees to provide a real and meaningful offer that is exclusive to Seniors Card members. The discount offer shall not be a generally available benefit which has been ‘repackaged’ for the purpose of gaining access to the Seniors Card Program. The discount offer shall not be a discount on a ‘rack rate’.

2. Agrees to provide a discount offer valid from the time of registration.

3. Agrees that the discount must specify a ‘percentage’ or ‘dollar value’ discount. Wording such as ‘varying levels of discount’, ‘up to X%’, ‘approximately X%’ or ‘X% to X%’ will not be accepted.

4. Agrees to provide an offer specifically for seniors card members, is clear about the genuine savings to seniors and gives clear statements regarding any exclusions. The standard minimum discount is 10% (or $20 in value), anything less is at the discretion of the WA Seniors Card Centre for inclusion in the program.

5. Agrees to word the discount in plain and simple language.

6. Agrees that all discount offers shall give equal treatment to cash and credit card transactions.

7. Accepts the responsibility to ensure that the offer will be readily available to Seniors Card members for the discount directory two year period and that all existing and new staff will be made aware of the discount.

8. Agrees to clearly display the Seniors Card signs (decals) in all business outlets.

9. Agrees to accept all interstate Seniors Card and the NZ SuperGold Card for the provision of the discount offer.

10. Agrees to recognise and provide discount offers to other Australian State and

Territories Seniors Card. This also includes the New Zealand SuperGold Card Program.

11. Agrees that all discounts are subject to approval by the Department of Local Government and Communities – WA Seniors Card (referred to as the department), who reserves the right to reject any discount or business it deems inappropriate, or as advertising space within each category reaches capacity. The department also reserves the right to give preference to Western Australian businesses.

12. Agrees to keep the department and its contractors fully indemnified against any costs (including legal fees), claims, damages and expenses that may be incurred by the department and/or its contractors as a result of the business provider failing to perform its obligations under this agreement and/or in connection with the supply, or any failure to supply, the offer.

13. Agrees that the offer may not be changed, substituted or withdrawn without the prior written consent of the department.

14. Agrees to immediately remove all Seniors Card logos from display when business membership in the Seniors Card Program ceases.

15. Acknowledges that the business is a GST registered business.

16. Acknoweldges that, where applicable, the business is licensed to carry out the trade advertised (for example, electricians, plumbers, financial advisors and accountants).

17. Agrees to allow the department to make enquiries and exchange information with the Department of Commerce and other relevant bodies.
