Our Advent Parish Mission “Lord Make me a Instrument of
Your Peace” November 28th to December 1st
English– November 28 & 29 @ 7:00 PM
Please plan to come to our Advent Parish Mission (2-nights in English and 2 nights in Spanish) which begins on Sunday, November 28th. We will be reflecting on the Peace Prayer of St. Francis and how we can be instruments of God’s Peace and Love in our world today. What a great way to begin the season of Advent!
Father Ed Shea, OFM is our presenter. A Franciscan who was Pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Joliet and has worked all over the Joliet Diocese, Father Ed loves to sing and tell stories as he celebrates the sacraments of the Church. You can even find father Ed on line, when he sang the National Anthem at a White Sox game, just go to “You Tube” and put in “Father Ed Shea sings: and you’ll see it live!
Franciscan Father Ed Shea is the third of eight children from St. Giles parish in Oak Park. A 1974 graduate of Fenwick High School and a 1978 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Father Shea joined the Franciscans in 1980 and was ordained a priest in 1987. Father Ed has spent most of his priesthood in parish work, including four years as the priest-presider for the St. Giles Family Mass Community in Oak Park, IL and five years as the pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Joliet, IL. He was also pastor of St. Jo-seph Parish, a predominantly Hispanic community in Chi-cago’s famous Back of the Yards neighborhood. Father Ed presently serves on his Provincial Council and is Director of Formation for the Franciscans of the Sacred Heart Provi-dence. He is also the Faculty Moderator for a program called Catholics on Call, a discernment program for a man who loves to sing and tell stories, more then anything he thrives on celebrating the sacraments of the church. A true follower of St. Francis, Father Ed finds reasons to rejoice often in the goodness of Gods presence in our world.
Nuestra Misión Parroquial de Adviento “Señor hazme un Instrumento de
tu Paz” Noviembre 30 y Diciembre 1 a las 7:00
PM

St. Joseph’s 1st Annual “Christmas Wish” Project
Dear St. Joseph Family
Everyone looks forward to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. For some of our parishioners, however, this season does not look so bright for one reason or another. And that
is the reason that as a parish family we would like to help some of our families. For the past few months we had have a heavy inquire on help with food, paying rent, bills, and many other neces-sities , as we all know we cannot afford to help everyone, but here at St. Joseph we are know to be a generous family who is always willing to go the extra mile to help those in need.
This year St. Joseph Parish will be helping 30 families with gifts and food for Christmas. We are asking for your help with this project either by taking a gift tag and purchasing a gift the weekend of November 27 & 28 and returning it the weekend of Dec. 11 and 12. Or by contrib-uting to this fund, or purchasing food and gift cards for these families and dropping them off at the Parish Office.
We are also taking 50 gift tags from the Addison Switchboard to help other families in need.
We truly appreciate all you do for OUR parish, may God continue to pour Blessing upon you.
Sincerely,
Rev. Luis Gutierrez & St. Joseph Staff
Sinceramente
Padre Luís Gutiérrez y Personal de San José.

His kingdom is not of this world, but of the world that transcends this one, and that is dominated by love, joy and peace. He alone, as the firstborn of all creation, has been invested with the power and authority of God. We are Stewards of Christ through our Bap-tism, each one of us sharing in his kingly identity.
