WELCOME ADDRESSES

On behalf of the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies, I have great pleasure in inviting you to participate in EuroMaintenance 2016 Conference which is being held from 30 May to 1 June in the vibrant city of Athens.

In my position as President of the EFMNS, I am fully convinced that Maintenance constitutes one of the pillars in the European industry as well as in the urban as a utility sector.

Maintenance is of utmost importance for trade and commerce, for the environment, and for general health and safety. In order to pursue its goals, the EFNMS acts as an umbrella organisation for the non-profit National Maintenance Societies in Europe.

EFNMS is recognised as the leading European network for knowledge and experience in maintenance and physical asset management.

For the above reasons, EuroMaintenance 2016 is considered a “must” Conference for those engaged in the Maintenance sector. Joining the conference will be a unique opportunity for all of us not only to participate in the Conference and listen to the specialists, but also do some networking with other colleagues and share our knowledge and experience.

Despite the crisis, Maintenance will stay a “continuous challenge” to keep our European industry fit and healthy.

I do invite you to come to Athens, actively participate in the Conference and also get to know one of the most wonderful cities in the world.

Yours cordially,

Herman Baets

Chairman and CEO of EFNMS

Dear friends,

In June 2016 the heart of Global Maintenance Community will beat in Athens.

In the city that Aristotle, the founder of western civilisation, first manifested the principal that “for any result there is a cause”. A principal that constitutes the core of every asset management system.

In the city that inspired the first democracy and supported its prosperity on the development of the skills of every citizen. That is a constant challenge for any management model.

During the 24th EuroMaintenance in a row, influencers, experts and professionals from all over the world will highlight the critical role of asset management in building a sustainable growth model for enterprises and our planet.

At EuroMaintenance 2016 you will be able to participate in thematic workshops, inspiring presentations and social events, giving you the opportunity to interact with experts who communicate inspiring case studies leading to success.

We are waiting for you in Athens to share and improve knowledge, people skills, products and practices, because sustainable continuous improvement is what we all need for ourselves, our business environment and our planet.

We invite you to fulfill your business expectations and enjoy our hospitality.

Sincerely,

George Efremidis

Chairman Hellenic Maintenance Society - HMS

CITY OF ATHENS

Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. Athens dominates the Attica region and is one of the world’s oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years, and the earliest human presence around the 11th–7th millennium BC.

Athens is recognised as a global city because of its geo-strategic location and its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, culture, education and tourism. It is one of the biggest economic centres in southeastern Europe, with a large financial sector, and its port Piraeus is the largest passenger port in Europe and the third largest in the world.

Surrounded by a lining of stunning seas and mountains, Athens is filled with gems just waiting to be discovered. Located at the crossroads of three continents, the capital of Greece with an overall population of close to 4 million has often been the hub of many cultures. Characterised by a culture and people that are welcoming and hospitable, every visitor just feels at home.

Athens is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Acropolis of Athens and the medieval Daphni Monastery. Athens was the host city of the first modern-day Olympic Games in 1896, and 108 years later it welcomed home the 2004 Summer Olympics. Athens is home to the National Archeological Museum, featuring the world’s largest collection of ancient Greek antiquities, as well as the new Acropolis Museum.

The city that never sleeps offers a variety of things to see and do, and most of the times, under favourable weather conditions. Athens is considered one of Europe’s safest capitals; its transportation network is user-friendly; there are numerous museums and archeological sites and hundreds of restaurants to satisfy every taste.

Furthermore, a factor that is driving Athens’ destination popularity is the increasing number of international carriers that fly into its new and award-winning airport, easily connecting Athens to the rest of the world.

Athens is an ideal congress destination, combining state-of-the-art infrastructure, excellent conference facilities and easy access from all over the world with world-class cultural attractions, modern amenities, diverse entertainment and natural beauty.
