Electrostatic: The device may besensitive to static electricity

    Microwave: Beware of strongelectromagnetic field

    Laser: Beware of strong laserbeam

    Scald: Beware of scald

The universal alerting symbol has three levels: danger, warn-ing, and caution. The formats and meanings of the three levelsare described as below:

    Danger:

Indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. Limit its use to only extremesituations.

    Warning:

Indicates a hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could resultin serious injuries, equipment damages or interruption of majorservices.

    Caution:

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in moderate injuries, equipment damages or partialservice interruption.

Safety Instructions GuidelineElectrical Safety 1. Tools

Use special tools rather than common tools for high-voltageand AC operations.

    2. High Voltage

2 Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION

  • Chapter 1 Safty Instructions

Strictly follow local safety rules to install AC power equip-ments.

Installation staff must be qualified for performing high-volt-age and AC operations.

Do not wear any watch, hand chain, bracelet, ring or anyother conductive object during such operations.

Prevent moisture from accumulating on the equipment dur-ing operations in a damp environment.

    Danger:

High voltage is hazardous. Direct or indirect contact with highvoltage or main supply using a wet object may result in death.

    3. Power Cable

Make sure to shut off power supply before installing or dis-connecting a power cable.

Before connecting cables, make sure that the cables andcable labels match the practical installation conditions.

    Danger:

Never install or uninstall power cables while they are live.

Otherwise, the power cable, when contacting a conductor, may result in sparks or electric arc, causing a fire or evendamage to eyes.

    4. Drilling Holes

Unqualified drilling could damage wiring and cables insidethe cabinet. Additionally, metal pieces inside the cabinetgenerated by the drilling may result in a short circuit.

When it is necessary to perform drilling on a cabinet, wearinsulating gloves and first move away cables inside the cab-inet. Protect eyes during drilling as dust or flying debrismay damage eyes. Clean debris in time after drilling.

    Warning:

  • ZXSDR BS8906 U040 Hardware Installation Guide

    Danger:

Do not perform high-voltage or AC operations or operations atiron tower or mast in a thunderstorm.

Antistatic Friction caused by human body is the root cause of electro-static charge accumulation. In dry environment, the electro-static voltage carried by human body can be as high as 30 kVand can remain in human body for a long time. When an oper-ator carrying static electricity touches a component, the staticelectricity will be discharged and damage the component.

Before touching any equipment or holding the board, circuitboard, and IC chip, wear the antistatic wrist strap and make theother end of it be well grounded. This helps avoid damagingelectrostatic-sensitive components by the static electricity ofhuman body.

A resistor over 1 M must be connected in series on the cablebetween the antistatic wrist strap and the grounding point, toprotect the operator against accidental electric shock. Resis-tance over 1 M is low enough to discharge static voltage.

The antistatic wrist strap must be checked periodically. Do notreplace the cable of an antistatic wrist strap by any other cable.

Do not contact static-sensitive modules with any object thattends to generate static electricity. For example, frictioncaused by package bag, transfer box and transfer belt, whichis made from insulation plastic, may cause static electricity oncomponents.

Static-sensitive boards/modules should only contact materi-als of good discharging performance, such as the antistaticbag. Keep boards/modules in antistatic bags during storageand transportation.

Discharge static electricity of the testing device before use, that is, make the testing device be grounded first.

Do not place a board/module near a strong DC magneticfield, such as the cathode-ray tube of a monitor. Keep theboard/module at least 10 cm away.

    Electrostatic:

Static electricity produced by human body can damage electro-static-sensitive components on the circuit board, such as LargeIntegrated Circuits (LIC).

Hoisting Weights To disassemble, move, or replace a heavy equipment, makesure that facilities with proper hoisting capability are available.

Personnel performing the hoisting task must have receivedproper training. Before the hoisting operation is performed, thehoisting tools must be checked and be complete. Make surethat the hoisting tools are firmly fixed on the support frame orthe wall. Use short command to avoid misoperation.

4 Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION

  • Chapter 1 Safty Instructions

    Warning:

Make sure that no one stays or walks under the hoisted weight.

    Unplugging/Plug-ging a Board/Mod-

    ule

Do not plug in a board with great force as it might bend thepins at the backplane.

Insert the board/module along the slot to avoid the circuit sur-face of board/module touching each other lest there is anyshort circuit.

While holding a module, do not touch its circuits, components, connectors, and wiring trough.

Others Replacing the parts or modifying the equipment may give riseto extra danger.

Therefore, do not replace any part or alter the equipment un-less being authorized.

To ensure your safety, please contact ZTE Corporation if youhave any problem.

Due to that RRU is in high temperature during running, the RRUshould be installed in some regions out of operators reach orstrictly restricted.

    Caution:

Do not perform maintenance or debugging independently, unlessa qualified person is present.
