EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Indian food processing industry is one of the largest in the world in terms of
production, consumption, export and growth prospects. Earlier, food processing was largely
confined to the food preservation, packaging and transportation, which mainly involved salting,
curdling, drying, pickling.India has a strong agricultural production base with diverse agro-climatic conditions and arable land of 184 million hectares. It is one of the major food producers
in the world and has abundant availability of wide variety of crops, fruits, vegetables, flowers,
livestock and seafood. Summer internship was undertaken at McCain Food India Pvt. Ltd., Pune,
Maharashtra. McCain Food India Pvt. Ltd. is world's largest producer of French Fries and Potato
Specialties. McCain Foods Ltd. is located in Florenceville, New Brunswick, Canada. It has
grown to become a global leader in the frozen food industry. The title of the project is TO
STUDY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION LEVEL OF McCain FROZEN FOOD
PRODUCTS.This study was taken mainly to know about the satisfaction level of customers
against McCain frozen products. The main objective of this project was to know about the
consumer behavior towards frozen food. To know about the preference of customer towards
frozen food, to know which all factors influences purchase behavior of preferences, to study the
level of usage of frozen food product by consumer and to study the satisfaction level of variouspurchasers.
The method of research used in the project was descriptive method of research. Research
instrument used in the project was questionnaire. Sample universe are the lounges of Pune region
and various customer who visit supermarket. Sampling method used in the project was non-
probability sampling. Sample size is 110.
Major findings of the project was found that 99% of the customers are aware of frozen
food products. It was seen that a majority of the customers 54% use both (Veg. and Non-veg.)
frozen food products and 45% of customers use vegetarian frozen food products. It was found
that 99% of customers use McCain products. It was found that 76% of customers are highly
satisfied with McCain frozen food products. It was observed that 39% of the customers are
influenced by the price of the product as a purchasing factor. It was seen that 38% of customer
find the products available in supermarket and everywhere. It was observed that 43% of

customers found out about McCain products through their friends. It was found that 96% of
customers find it easy and convenient to cook McCain products. It was observed that 90% of the
customers find the information on packaging useful. It was seen that 56% of the customers
purchase McCain products once a month. It was observed that 88% of the customers recommend
McCain products. It was found that 96% of the customers use frozen food products. It was
observed that 88% of the customer found frozen food easily available.It was seen that 79% ofcustomers demand for McCain products.
Major conclusion of this project was .The consumer behavior towards frozen foodproducts shows that 56% of the end users purchase McCain products once a week and 71% the
customers (lounges) purchase McCain products 1-2 times a month. Also 67% of consumers
(lounges) purchase 4kg. of McCain frozen food products in a month from dealers/ distributors.
The consumer preference of frozen food products shows that 54% of end user
consumers prefer both (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) frozen food products and also 45% of
them prefer vegetarian frozen food products. It also shows that 79% of consumers (lounges)
purchase McCain products.
The influencing factors of end user purchase preference shows that Price and Taste
account as most influencing factors with 39% and 32% respectively. The study also shows that
for the customers (lounges), margin is the influencing factor accounting for 62%.
The level of usage of frozen food products shows that 56% of end users purchase McCain
frozen food once a week. It was also observed that the customers (lounges), 67% require around
4kg. of frozen food products and 71% of customers have a frequency of purchasing the products
1-2 times a month.
Some of the major recommendation was In India McCain has all their products in vegetarian
segment only. There are few customers who prefer Non-vegetarian frozen food products, so the
company should enter non-vegetarian segment of frozen food products in India also. Company
should focus on taste, durability and quality of some products because customers were
influenced by them and together they stand for the highest percentage of influencing factors of
purchase.
