Getting Married at our Parishes? To all of those preparing for marriage,

congratulations on your engagement! For those who are planning to be married at Gate of Heaven or St.

Brigid Church, we ask that you call the parish office a year in advance of your desired wedding date. If you

are planning a marriage sooner than that, the Archdio-cese of Boston requires that engaged couples have at least 6 months of marriage preparation prior to the

wedding day. To all those parishioners who are being married elsewhere and are in need of marriage prepa-ration, please contact us as soon as you have booked

your wedding date. We look forward to accompanying all of you as you prepare for this new life together.

Altar Flowers, Bells & Steeple Lights: In Memory of Loved Ones

Please call the Parish Office to arrange for the bells to be rung and/or

steeple to be lit for a deceased family member or friend.

Gate of Heaven Parking Lot Update - October 8th As you know, over the past couple of years, we have been raising funds for the comple-tion of the parking lot at Gate of Heaven Church. The 2019 Grand Annual Collection

and also our Capital Campaign, that we began in 2018, we raised enough funds to complete the excavation, drainage work, and paving. The Archdiocese approved this work in late February, just before the pandemic lockdown. The drainage system is

complete, the first coat of the pavement was installed and pavers will be completed shortly.

The next steps: 1. TTop (smooth) coat: The pavement will be installed and the lining of the lot

will take place in the next 10 days. Parking in new lot will be ooff limits for about 5 days following the top coat install.

2. Plantings: The landscape will include bushes, trees, and grass all of which will be installed in the next week. 3. Statue of the Lord and the little children, in honor of the children who attended Gate of Heaven School, will be installed in the next weeks. 4. Fencing: The fencing is expected to be installed in the Fall. The 2020 Grand Annual Collection will cover some of the cost to continue the wrought iron fence along East 4th and East 5th Streets. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

We are happy the project will soon be completed. Thank you to all who helped fund this project. Know that it is greatly appreciated!

Needed - Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers,

Adult Servers The Parish is in need of Lectors

and Eucharistic Ministers. Due to Covid-19, many of the more senior minsters have not

been able to serve. If you are able, healthy and willing - we will train you! The need is great for Lectors to assist

the priest in proclaiming the Word of God. Also - EEucharistic Ministers are needed for all Mass

times. For all ministries - you may

choose the Mass you assist at when scheduled. We are flexible with schedules.

Adult Altar Servers - Help

needed to Assist at Funerals for our

Deceased Loved Ones Our parishes of Gate of Heaven and St. Brigid are

currently in significant need of parishioners of any age who would be willing to help serve Funeral Masses.

Please consider helping the parish and the families of the deceased with this our most important work of mercy. If you are interested in assisting with any of these ministries or have questions, pplease contact the

Parish Main Office at 617.268.3344. Thank you!

Religious Education Classes Postponed start

K2 - through Confirmation Classes Postponed until further notice due to COVID-19. We possibly will not resume classes until January

2021. Please watch bulletin for updates.



SBCA had their second week of Fitness Club after school - this small club is offered to the

6th and 3rd graders. They are running to Marine Park and workout by the water! 3rd

graders were able to use what they have learned from their science unit to test

their anemometers at the beach.

Mrs. Connolly and Ms. McCarthy were

also excited to run into a former student,

Katelyn Coe, outside of school. Katelyn

has just joined the

Boston Police Department. We are

very proud of all of our students and our SBCA

teachers who have made such an

incredible impact on all of their former and current

student’s lives.

GRAND ANNUAL COLLECTION

CONTINUES A special Grand Annual letter from Father Casey has

been mailed to all registered parishioners of Gate of Heaven Parish and St. Brigid Parish.

Included is a pledge card to assist in making your annual gift. You may mail it back to the Parish Office or place it in the collection at Mass. Additional pledge

cards and letters are available at the doors of the Church.

While our weekly Offertory supports our day-to-day operations, the GGrand Annual Collection allows us to

continue capital improvements and on-going maintenance at the parishes.

This year, due to the effects of the pandemic, our need is great, so we are asking you to consider a gift that

would help us meet the needs of each parish’s capital improvement and ongoing monthly bills. This donation

could be done with monthly payments. We ask only that you give to the best of your ability.

We truly appreciate any assistance you can give,

understanding that some households face financial difficulties. We are counting on the many who are able to generously support our 2020 Grand Annual Appeal.
