The holiday season is quickly approaching and we are once again beginning to make plans for the Angel Tree program.
Grace Church has participated in this program for over 25 years. It gives us the opportunity to im-pact the lives of the children of incarcer-ated parents in a positive way.
Inmates send applications to the Prison Fellowship Office, for their children to re-ceive Christmas gifts. The names of those children are then sent to participating churches in the area where they live. The local Angel Tree Committee contacts the caregivers for permission to purchase gifts in the parent's name.
Church members have the first opportuni-ty to choose an angel on Sunday, Decem-ber 5th and also at the Wednesday service, December 9th. If there are still Angels re-maining, they will be available again on Sunday, December 12th. They then pur-chase an appropriate gift, wrap it and re-turn it to the church by Friday Dec. 18th. For those who would like to be a part of this mission other than purchase a gift, we need donations of cash for Chris-tian materials and party expenses. Each family will receive a box of homemade cookies so cookies are also needed. There will be a sign up sheet for cookies with the Angel Tree.
On Dec. 19th the committee will host a party at Grace Church when those chil-dren will receive their gifts. We play bin-go, enjoy balloon shapes made by the “Balloon Man” and have pizza, cookies and drink.
Those of the committee who have worked directly with these children have been so blessed. The joy the children display is amazing. There is positive time with care-givers also. Your donations are what makes this program so successful.
