The Locum Writes

Good Morning and welcome to Christ Church!

If you are a visitor, please make yourself known to me at the door, and come with us across to the Hall for morning tea after the service.

A special welcome at the 10.30am service to Henry Thomas John Cornelius, son of Henry and Kimberley, grandson of Brian and Daphne Cornelius, who is being brought to belong to Christ through baptism here this morning. Fr David Keay has known the family since his ministry in the Parish of Lockleys some years ago. He prepared the father for Confirmation, and continues that ministry here by baptising the son.

Peter the Apostle said when the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost: ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.’ Pray for this family and thank God for His goodness.

Enclosed in this booklet is a leaflet about the Advent Outreach and the Christmas services. Please use it to spread the word to others—extra copies are available.

Yours in Chri7

Martin Bleby

The People shall and for the entry of the Sanctuary Party.

℣ The Lord be with you.

℟ And with thy Spirit.

Then shall be said the Introit Sentence

L ORD, thou art become gracious unto thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob. Ps. 85, 1

Then shall be sung the hymn for the Introit.

415 Eternal light, shine in my heart t. Warrington

All kneel. The Prie prays:

O UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we

forgive them that trespass again7 us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. Amen.

Then shall the Prie say, together with the People:

A LMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that

we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Chri+ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall be sung:

Kyrie, eleison Lord, have mercy upon us. Chri7e, eleison Chri+, have mercy upon us. Kyrie, eleison Lord, have mercy upon us.

4

Then shall be said the Collect for the Day.

Let us pray.

O LORD, we beseech thee, absolve thy people from their offences; that through thy bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the bands of those sins, which by our frailty we have committed:

Grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Then shall the People sit for the Epile.

The Epistle is written in the First Chapter of the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Colossians beginning at the third verse.

W E give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints; for the hope which is laid up for you

in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the Gospel; which is come unto you, as it is in all the world, and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth. As ye also learned of Epaphras, our dear fellow-servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding: that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.

Here endeth the Epi7le.

Then shall the people stand to sing Psalm 96, beginning at the 7th verse for the Gradual

5

7 Ascribe unto the Lord O ye | kindreds of the | people : ascribe unto the | Lord | worship and | power. 8 Ascribe unto the Lord the honour due | unto his | Name : bring presents and |come | into his | courts. 9 O worship the Lord in the | beauty of | holiness : let the | whole earth | stand in | awe of him. 10 Tell it out among the heathen that the | Lord is | King : and that it is he who hath made the round world so fast that it cannot be moved, and how that he shall | judge the | people | righteously. 11 Let the heavens rejoice and let the | earth be |glad : let the sea make a noise and | all that | therein | is. 12 Let the field be joyful and | all that is | in it : then shall all the trees of the wood re|joice be|fore the | Lord. 13 For he cometh, for he cometh to | judge the |earth : and with righteousness to judge the world, and the | people | with his | truth. At the beginning of the Gospel:

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Out of the deep have I called unto | thee O | Lord: Lord | hear | my | voice. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

The Holy Gospel is written in the Ninth Chapter of the Gospel of Saint Matthew beginning at the eighteenth verse. Glory be to thee, O Lord.

W HILE Jesus spake these things unto John's disciples, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall

live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. (And behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years,

6

came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.) And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, he said unto them, Give place; for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. Praise be to thee, O Chri+. AT 8AM ONLY

Then shall be sung the Creed by Prie and People:

I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible: AND in one Lord Jesus Chri+, the only-begotten son of God,

Begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of very God, Begotten, not made, Being of one sub+ance with the Father, By whom all things were made: Who for us men, and for our salvation came down from heaven, And was incarnate by the Holy Gho+ of the Virgin Mary, And was made man, And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He su@ered and was buried, And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end. AND I believe in the Holy Gho+, The Lord and giver of life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets. And I believe one Catholick and Apo+olick Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the life of the world to come. Amen.

Then shall the People sit for the Sermon.

7

Following the sermon, the parents and godparents of the child to be baptised bring the child to the front of the church to present him.

The Prie begins:

B ELOVED in Chri7 Jesus, seeing that all men are from their birth prone to sin, but that God willeth all men to be saved, for God is love: and that our Saviour Chri7 saith, none can enter into the

kingdom of God, except they be born anew of water and of the Holy Gho7; I beseech you to call upon God the Father, through our Lord Jesus Chri7, that of his bounteous mercy he will grant to this child that thing which by nature he cannot have, that he may be baptised with water and the Holy Gho7, and received into Chri7’s holy Church, and be made a living member of the same.

Then shall the Priest say, all anding,

A LMIGHTY and everla7ing God, who by the Baptism of thy well-beloved Son Jesus Chri7, in the river Jordan, did7 sanctify water to the my7ical washing away of sin: Mercifully look upon this child;

wash him and sanctify him with the Holy Spirit, that he may be received into the ark of Chri7’s Church; and being 7eadfa7 in faith, joyful through hope, and rooted in charity, may so pass the waves of this troublesome world, that finally he may come to the land of everla7ing life, there to reign with thee world without end; through Jesus Chri7 our Lord. Amen.

Then shall be said:

Hear the words of the Gospel, written by Saint Mark, in the 10th chapter, beginning at the 13th verse.

℟ Glory be to thee, O Lord.

T HEY brought young children to Chri7, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little

children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

℟ Praise be to thee, O Chri+.

8

Then may the Prie read this brief Exhortation:

Y OU hear in this Gospel the words of our Saviour Chri7, when he commanded the children to be brought unto him. You perceive how he took them in his arms, and blessed them. Jesus Chri7 is the

same ye7erday, and today, and for ever. Doubt not therefore, but earne7ly believe, that he loveth this child, that he approveth this work of ours in bringing him to Holy Baptism, that he is ready to receive him, to embrace him with the arms of his mercy, and to give him the blessing of eternal life. Wherefore, we being thus persuaded of the good will of our heavenly Father towards this child, declared by his Son Jesus Chri7, let us faithfully and devoutly give thanks unto him, and say:

A LMIGHTY and everla+ing God, heavenly Father, We give thee humble thanks, for that thou ha+ called us to the knowledge of thy grace, and faith in thee: Increase this knowledge, and

confirm this faith in us evermore. Give thy Holy Spirit to this child, that he may be born again, and be made an heir of everla+ing salvation; through our Lord Jesus Chri+, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Then shall the Prie speak unto the Godfather and Godmother on this wise:

D EARLY beloved, you have brought this child here to be baptised; ye have prayed that our Lord Jesus Chri7 would be pleased to receive him, to cleanse him and to sanctify him. Our Lord hath promised in

his Gospel to grant all these things that you have prayed for; which promise he, for his part, will mo7 surely keep and perform. You, on your part, mu7 undertake on behalf of this child three things: FIRST, that he will renounce the devil and all his works; secondly, that he will con7antly believe God’s holy Word; and thirdly, that he will obediently keep his commandments.

Then, speaking to the Godparents severally, he shall say: I demand therefore; DOST thou, in the name of this child, renounce the devil and all his works, the vain pomp and glory of the world, with all covetous desires of the same,

9

and the sinful desires of the flesh, so that thou wilt not follow nor be led by them?

℟ I do.

DOST thou, in the name of this child profess the Chri7ian Faith?

℟ I do.

Then shall be said by the Prie, the Godparents and the Congregation, the Apoles’ Creed as follows:

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Chri+ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Gho+, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Gho+: the holy Catholick Church; the Communion of Saints; the Forgiveness of sins; the Resurrection of the body, and the Life everla+ing. Amen.

DOST thou in the name of this child promise obedience to God’s holy will and commandments?

℟ I do.

DOST thou in the name of this child ask for baptism?

℟ I do.

Then shall the baptismal party move to the font

Then shall the Prie say:

O MERCIFUL God, grant that the old Adam in this child may be so buried, that the new man may be raised up in him. Amen.

GRANT that all evil desires of the flesh may die in him, and that all things belonging to the Spirit may live and grow in him. Amen.

GRANT that he may have power and 7rength to have victory, and to triumph, again7 the devil, the world, and the flesh. Amen.

10

GRANT that whosoever is here dedicated to thee by our office and mini7ry may also be endued with heavenly virtues, and everla7ingly rewarded, through thy mercy, O blessed Lord God, who do7 live, and govern all things, world without end. Amen. After which the Prie shall proceed, saying:

℣The Lord be with you;

℟ And with thy spirit.

℣ Lift up your hearts;

℟ We lift them up unto the Lord.

℣ Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. ℟ It is meet and right so to do.

I T is very meet, right and our bounden duty, that we should give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everla7ing God, for that thy mo7 dearly beloved Son Jesus Chri7, for the

forgiveness of our sins, did shed out of his mo7 precious side both water and blood; and gave commandment to his disciples, that they should go teach all nations, and baptise them, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Gho7.

HEAR, we beseech thee, the prayer of thy people; sanctify this water to the my7ical washing away of sin; and grant that this child, now to be baptised therein, may receive the fullness of thy grace, and ever remain in the number of thy faithful and elect children; through Jesus Chri7 our Lord, to whom with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, be all honour and glory, now and evermore. Amen.

Then shall the Prie say to the Godfathers and Godmothers:

Name this child. The Priest shall then baptise the child:

H ENRY THOMAS JOHN, I baptise thee in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Gho7. Amen.

Then shall the Prie put the sign of the cross on him, and say:

11

W E receive Henry into the congregation of Chri7’s flock, and do sign him with the sign of the Cross, in token that hereafter he shall not be ashamed to confess the faith of Chri7 crucified, and

manfully to fight under his banner, again7 sin, the world, and the devil; and to continue Chri7’s faithful soldier and servant unto his life’s end. Amen.

Lighting of the Candle

C hrist is come, a light into the world. Show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: for the fruit of the

Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.

THE THANKSGIVING

Then shall the Priest say:

S EEING now, dearly beloved brethren, that Henry is born again, and received into the family of Chri7’s Church, let us give thanks unto Almighty God for these benefits; and with one accord make

our prayers unto Him, that he may lead the re7 of his life according to this beginning.

W E yield thee hearty thanks, mo7 merciful Father, that it hath pleased thee to regenerate Henry with thy Holy Spirit, to receive him for thine own child by adoption, and to make him a member of thy Church. Amen.

G RANT, O Lord, that, being buried with Chri7 by Baptism into his death, Henry may also be made partaker of his resurrection; so that, serving thee here in newness of life, he may

finally, with the re7 of thy holy Church, be an inheritor of thine everla7ing Kingdom; through Jesus Chri7 our Lord. Amen.

Then may follow this Prayer for the home.

A LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, whose blessed Son did share at Nazareth the life of an earthly home: Bless, we beseech thee, the home of Henry and grant wisdom and under7anding to

all who have the care of him; that he may grow up in thy con7ant fear and love; through the same thy Son Jesus Chri7 our Lord. Amen.

12

The Liturgical party returns to the sanctuary.

The Dedication of a Ciborium as a memorial gift in memory of Barbara Murray (Trick) Rymill

O God, our Father, who hast called us into the fellowship of thy Holy Church, through Jesus Christ our Lord: We praise Thee for those who have been lights of the world in their generations,

and in whose lives Thy people have seen the likeness of Thy mercy and love; Accept, we pray Thee, this memorial of Thy servant, Barbara, who by Thy grace rendered unto Thee in this Parish, true and laudable service, to the benefit of Thy Church and People: through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I n the faith of Jesus Christ, and for the benefit of his Holy Church, we offer and dedicate this Ciborium to the Glory of God, and in memory of his servant, Barbara, in the Name of the

Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. Accept and consecrate it, we pray Thee, as we set it apart from all common and unhallowed uses, ever to be employed for the service of Thy Church and the honour of Thy Holy Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall the people stand to sing the Hymn for the O1ertory.

℣ Re7 eternal grant unto them, O Lord.

℟ And let light perpetual shine upon them.

Let us pray for the whole 7ate of Chri7’s Church militant here in earth.

A LMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy Apo7le ha7 taught us to make prayers, and supplications, and to give thanks for all men; We humbly beseech thee mo7 mercifully to accept our

alms and oblations, and to receive these our prayers, which we oDer unto thy Divine Maje7y; beseeching thee to inspire continually the Universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord: And grant, that all they that do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and live in unity, and godly love. We beseech thee also to save and defend all Chri7ian Kings, Princes, and Governors; and specially thy Servant ELIZABETH our Queen; that under her we may be godly and quietly governed: And grant unto her whole Council, and to all that are put in authority under her, that they may truly and indiDerently mini7er ju7ice, to the punishment of wickedness and vice, and to the maintenance of thy true religion, and virtue. GIVE grace, O heavenly Father, to all Bishops and Curates, that they may both by their life and doctrine set forth thy true and lively Word, and rightly and duly admini7er thy holy Sacraments. AND to all thy people give thy heavenly grace; and especially to this congregation here present; that, with meek heart and due reverence, they may hear, and receive thy holy Word; truly serving thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life. And we mo7 humbly beseech thee, of thy goodness, O Lord, to comfort and succour all them, who in this transitory life, are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity. And we also bless thy holy Name for all thy servants departed this life in thy faith and fear; beseeching thee to give us grace so to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of thy heavenly kingdom. Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Chri7’s sake, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

14

Then shall the Prie say:

Y E that do truly and earne7ly repent you of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbours, and intend to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from

henceforth in his holy ways; Draw near with faith, and take this holy Sacrament to your comfort; and make your humble confession to Almighty God, meekly kneeling upon your knees.

Then shall this general Confession be made.

A LMIGHTY God, Father of our Lord Jesus Chri+, Maker of all things, judge of all men; We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we, from time to time,

mo+ grievously have committed, By thought, word, and deed, Again+ thy Divine Maje+y, Provoking mo+ ju+ly thy wrath and indignation again+ us. We do earne+ly repent, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; The remembrance of them is grievous unto us; The burden of them is intolerable. Have mercy upon us, Have mercy upon us, mo+ merciful Father; For thy Son our Lord Jesus Chri+’s sake, Forgive us all that is pa+; And grant that we may ever hereaGer Serve and please thee In newness of life, To the honour and glory of thy Name; Through Jesus Chri+ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall the Priest, turning himself to the people, pronounce the Absolution.

A LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of his great mercy hath promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto him; Have mercy upon you;pardon and deliver you from all your sins; confirm and

7rengthen you in all goodness; and bring you to everla7ing life; through Jesus Chri7 our Lord. Amen.

Then shall the Prie say:

H EAR what comfortable words our Saviour Chri7 saith unto all that truly turn to him.

15

COME unto me all that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you. St. Matth. xi. 28. SO God loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not perish, but have everla7ing life. St. John iii. 16. Hear also what Saint Paul saith: THIS is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, That Chri7 Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Tim i. 15. Hear also what Saint John saith: IF any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Chri7 the righteous; and he is the propitiation for our sins. 1 John ii. 1.

A=er which the Prie shall proceed:

℣ The Lord be with you ℟ And with thy spirit.

℣ LiL up your hearts. ℟ We liG them up unto the Lord.

℣ Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. ℟ It is meet and right so to do.

Then shall the Prie turn to the Lord’s Table, and say:

I T is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everla7ing God.

THEREFORE with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and saying:

Then shall be sung

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of ho+s, heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be to thee, O Lord mo+ High.

Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the Highe+.

16

Then shall be said this Prayer:

WE do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, tru+ing in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Chri+, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his mo+ precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Then the Prie, anding before the Table, shall say the Prayer of Consecration.

A LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of thy tender mercy did7 give thine only Son Jesus Chri7 to suDer death upon the Cross for our redemption; who made there (by his one oblation of himself

once oDered) a full, perfect, and suMcient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of the whole world; and did in7itute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of that his precious death, until his coming again.

HEAR us, O merciful Father, we mo7 humbly beseech thee; and grant that we receiving these thy creatures of bread and wine, according to thy Son our Saviour Jesus Chri7’s holy in7itution, in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his mo7 blessed Body and Blood: who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took Bread; and, when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, TAKE, EAT, THIS IS MY BODY WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU: DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

LIKEWISE aLer supper he took the Cup; and, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying,

DRINK YE ALL OF THIS; FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, WHICH IS SHED FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS: DO THIS, AS OFT AS YE SHALL DRINK IT, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

WHEREFORE, O Lord and heavenly Father, we thy humble servants entirely desire thy fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.

17

MOST humbly beseeching thee to grant, that by the merits and death of thy son Jesus Chri7, and through faith in his blood, we and all thy whole Church may obtain remission of our sins, and all other benefits of his passion. AND here we oDer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice unto thee; humbly beseeching thee, that all we, who are partakers of this holy Communion, may be fulfilled with thy grace and heavenly benediction. AND although we be unworthy, through our manifold sins, to oDer unto thee any sacrifice, yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden duty and service; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our oDences.

THROUGH Jesus Chri7 our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Gho7, all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

Then shall the Prie sing the Lord’s Prayer, together with the People.

As our Saviour Chri7 hath commanded and taught us, we are bold to pray:

O UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we

forgive them that trespass again+ us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

℣ The peace of the Lord be alway with you.

℟ And with thy spirit.

Then shall be sung the Agnus Dei.

O Lamb of God, that take+ away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that take+ away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that take+ away the sins of the world, grant us thy peace.

18

And a=er that shall the people, meekly kneeling, receive communion.

(Please note that we do not o1er intinction of the ho wafer into the Chalice.)

The Ministry of the Laying on of Hands and Prayer is offered in the Lady Chapel by Fr David Keay during the distribution of Communion. Please avail yourself of this Ministry of Prayer.

Then shall be sung the Communion Hymn

291 Come, dearest Lord t. Tallis Canon (14)

A=er shall be said as followeth:

A LMIGHTY and everliving God, we mo7 heartily thank thee, for that thou do7 vouchsafe to feed us, who have duly received these holy my7eries, with the spiritual food of the mo7 precious

Body and Blood of thy Son our Saviour Jesus Chri7; and do7 assure us thereby of thy favour and goodness towards us; and that we are very members incorporate in the my7ical body of thy Son, which is the blessed company of all faithful people; and are also heirs through hope of thy everla7ing kingdom, by the merits of the mo7 precious death and passion of thy dear Son. AND we mo7 humbly beseech thee, O heavenly Father, so to assi7 us with thy grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good works as thou ha7 prepared for us to walk in; through Jesus Chri7 our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Gho7, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

Please and to sing the Gloria.

Gloria in Excelsis Deo

G LORY be to God on high, and in earth peace, good will towards men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to thee for thy great glory, O Lord God,

heavenly King, God the Father Almighty.

19

O LORD, the only-begotten Son, Jesu Chri+; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that take+ away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that take+ away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that take+ away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sitte+ at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us.

FOR thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Chri+, with the Holy Gho+, art mo+ high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Then the Priest shall give this Blessing. Please kneel.

T HE peace of God, which passeth all under7anding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his son Jesus Chri7 our Lord: and the blessing of God Almighty,

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Gho7, be among7 you and remain with you always. Amen.

Then shall be sung the Final Hymn

534 O for a thousand tongues

If you can supply some stems of foliage for the Advent Wreath on at least one Sunday of the Advent Season, please tell Elaine Edwards. Thank You.

VOLUNTEERS Volunteers are urgently needed to fill some gaps in the roster for: • Collecting bread from Baker’s Delight and delivering it to the

Magdalene Centre • Taking the parish’s gift of groceries to the Magdalene Centre on a

Monday • Morning Tea after the 10.30am service Can you help? Please tell Elaine Edwards.

ABM CHRISTMAS CARDS Stocks of this year’s cards and some of last year’s are now available for very reasonable prices. Current year’s cards sell at $7 per packet of 10, while previous years’ are available from between $3 and $5 per packet of 10. Please see Elaine Edwards.

CHRISTMAS FOOD FOR THE MAGDALENE CENTRE Once we 'get over' the Fete, it's not long to Christmas which means that the Magdalene Centre will be packing hampers of food and gifts for distribution to the needy for Christmas. When you are purchasing the food donations for the basket for the Magdalene Centre, could you keep in mind - and purchase - gifts and food with Christmas in mind, please? Keep an eye on 'Specials' at supermarkets and on sale brochures and of your generosity, provide something special for those who cannot provide it for themselves. Thank you.
