Thou Who dost therefore punish themthat wander away from Thy law, and dost mildly refresh them that have beenchastized: that Thou mayest drag us away from all evil works, and make us turnunto doing good works; for Thou wantest not to come upon that which Thoudost condemn, but rather that which Thou dost approve; for when we oughtjointly to be afflicted as we deserve, Thou nevertheless dost temper justice inorder to correct us; nor dost Thou administer unending correction forpunishment; for Thou dost rightly correct us, and gently forgive us; in one casethere is truthfulness, in another case mercy; Thou That dost set us in order bythe law, that by drawing close Thou mayest not set us down to perish for ever, and by sparing Thou dost grant us the time needed for correction; for Thou soafflictest us with the evils of the present, that Thou mayest lead us to the goodthings of the future; Thou dost so comfort us with good things that aretemporary, that Thou informest us about those things which are eternal; forwhich we do ever praise Thee with loving acknowledgment both in times ofprosperity and in times of adversity. Through Christ Our Lord. Through WhomAngels praise Thy Majesty, Dominions adore, Powers tremble. The Heavens, andthe heavenlv Virtues, and the blessed Seraphim unite in one glad voice in extollingThee. Law saith, it saith tothem who are under the Law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all theworld may become guilty before God.Therefore by the deeds of the.Law there shall no flesh be justifjed in HisSight; for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.But now the righteousness of God without the Law is manifested, beingwitnessed by the Law and the Prophets;Even the righteousness of God which is by Faith of Jesus Christ unto alland upon all them that believe; for there is no difference; For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;Being justified freely by His grace through the Redemption That is inChrist Jesus; .Whom God hath set forth to be a Propitiation through Faith in His Blood,to declare His.rig~Leousness for the remission of sins that. are past, through theforbearance of God;To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness; that He might be just, and the Justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.(Rom. 3: 19 - 26) I V . Thanks be to God.

Or the following may be used in place of the above:The Epistle (as kept at Hereford): 'A Reading from the First Epistle of blessed Paul the Apostle, to Timothy:Dearly beloved: Without controversy great is the Mystery of godliness;God was Manifest in the Flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen of angels, Preachedunto the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up into Glory. Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shalldepart, from the Faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which Godhath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and knowthe Truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it bereceived with thanksgiving; For it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer.

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be agood minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of_Faith and of goodDoctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. jBut refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather untogodliness. For bodily exercise prof'iteth little; but godliness is profitable unto allthings, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.(1 Tim. 3: 16 - 4: 8) W . On Friday} the following Readings are to be used:The Epistle (as kept at Hereford):A Readingfrom the First Epistle of blessed Paul the Apostle, to Timothy:Dearly beloved: This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in theLiving God, Who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. These things command and teach.Let no man..,Jiespise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in'word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in Faith, in purity. \:Till 1 come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, withthe laying on of the hands of the presbytery.Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profitingmay appear to all.Take heed unto thyself, and unto the Doctrine; continue in them; for indoing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.Rebuke not an Elder, but intreat him as a Father; and the younger men asbrethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.Honour widows that are widows indeed. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shewpiety at horne, and to requite their parents; for that is good and acceptable beforeGod.
