n Petroltenker het ongeveer 20km buite Ohrigstad op die R36 Lydenburgpad aan die brand geslaan. Die insident het omstreeks 11h15 die oggend van 16 Julie gebeur. Die vragmotor se remme was waarskynlik die oorsaak van die brand. Die linker voorste wiel op die tenker sleepwa het aan die brand geslaan. Reinkor Brandweer het toe met n laedrukpomp en watertenk die brand geblus.

Hulle wil graag vir mnr. Garth McGee van Lydenburg net weereens bedank vir die watertenk en pomp wat hy aan Reinkor Brandweer geskenk het. Sonder hierdie toerusting sou die ongeluk nie so suksesvol

Mooimaaksessie se wenner is soek

5 year old diedin hit-and-run

young boy (5) was killed in a hit-and-run last week. This tragic event took place in front of the Pure Plaas Farmstall on the A

Ohrigstad Road. He suffered extensive back and neck injuries. It goes beyond any reasonable person's mind that a car can hit a child and drive away. A witness mentioned that the culprit was driving a white Toyota Tazz. It was travelling in the direction of Lydenburg on the R36. The incident occurred at about 15:00 last Sunday. Any witnesses who can assist the SAPS must please contact the authorities. The police are sure there were also witnesses in the

car with the driver. It is possible that the driver and passengers did not know that the boy died on the scene. Mrs Amanda Brits from the farm stall heard about the incident and phoned Reinkor Fire Department. Pastor Emil Reiners and his wife Catherin Reiners were the first responders on the scene. Dawid Oberholster from Reinkor Fire Department and his wife Naomi also gave CPR. ER24 Ambulance Services was also present on the scene. Mr X, stop littering or...your name will be published next time

A well-known farm owner from the Lydenburg district, +/-10km out on the Roossenekal Road, has had enough of people littering his road. Well refer to the scoundrel as Mr X. The farmer brought a bag full of trash to the Highlands Panorama News. We dug through the filth (a very messy job) and saw who the man is and we have his name, ID number, contact number and all his details. There was also underwear in this specific bag. We want to thank him sarcastically for the wonderful flowers he is leaving along the roadside. If he does not stop we will publish his name next time. The well-known farmer said this littering has been going on for a long time.You get individuals that try to keep everything clean and who do not poison the area with their rubbish, then you get people like Mr X. ~ Michelle Boshoff

DIE wreld het grotendeels bietjie vergeet van die implikasies van oorlog. Vyf en negentig persent van die huidige wreldbevolking het nie n wreldoorlog beleef nie.Di afgelope naweek se neerskiet van n siviele vliegtuig en die moord op bykans 300 mense, is net die soort vonk in die kruitvat wat reeds twee wreldoorlo ontketen het. Gaan lees maar die geskiedenis.

En die hele wreld is tans erg onrustig. Kyk na Siri, Israel en Gaza, Rusland en vele ander konflikte.Intussen het Suid Afrika die westerse wreld n toffie gewys en hom binne d ie B r i cs l ande gevoeg by kommunis t iese o f voormal ig kommunistiese lande soos China en Rusland, op ekonomiese gebied.Oorlog is n vreeslike ding. Praat maar met enige ou wat deur die bosoorlog is.Oorlog bring broer teen broer, vader teen seun en sulke onvergeetlike hartseer na vore. Dis nie mooi nie.Maar kom ons wees n bietjie

pragmaties.Die wreld is oorbevolk. Tagtig persent van die mense is suurstofdiewe wat geen iota bydra tot die mensdom nie. Ons natuurlike hulpbronne is vernietig. Ons leef in haat en nyd en sonde. Ons ekonomie is op sy knie.Die eerste en tweede wreldoorlo het werk geskep. Dit het ontwikkeling gestimuleer. Ons eie geskiedenis wys dit. Tydens die bosoorlog het ons self planne teen sanksies gemaak met nuwe industrie, bonusobligasies en elke ding. Ons was die reus van Afrika. Nou is ons n patetiese, misdaadgeteisterde derdewreldlandjie wat bly is oor ons 33% slaagsyfers, met korrupsie wat hoogty vier en met vrot riviere. Besluit jy maar self of die wreld reg is vir oorlog.

Baie van die besigheidsmense in die dorp kan maar gaan kers opsteek by oom Danie, miskien sal hulle dan besef hoe belangrik dit is om goeie diens te lewer!

Lydenburg Pastor to USA

Lydenburg Pastor Johannes Ramashala and his wife Lydia are from the Shalom Church Centre. They flew to the United State for a

visit, and visited places like Los Angeles, the Pacific North West as well as Minnesota.

The trip took two weeks. They would like to convey their gratitude to all the people who

contributed financially and by prayers towards their trip.

TAKE a first look at the long-awaited new Opel Corsa, which has been redesigned from the ground up in the interest of improved driveability, refinement and comfort. However, while the model is the same length as the previous incarnation, the two cars have very little else in common.The new Corsa sits on a completely redesigned chassis, with new suspension components and steering. Under the bonnet which is new, as is every other exterior panel there will be new engines and transmissions. Most of the interior has changed, including a completely redesigned instrument panel and dashboard.The design retains enough of the old model to identify it as a Corsa, sharing the wraparound lights and the stepped section above the rear wheelarch, while the front grille and badge have moved below the headlights. The result is a fourth-generation model that looks more serious and grown up, a bit like the Opel Adam which Opel refuses to bring to South Africa.Looks aside, the Corsas new chassis has been redesigned to improve refinement, ride quality, handling and stability, say Opel. The centre of gravity has been lowered by 5mm, and it benefits from a stiffer front sub-frame and new front suspension geometry to give drivers more precise handling.Speed-sensitive electric power steering can be switched to a city mode for low-speed manoeuvres. In Europe there is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, Ecotec direct-injection turbo petrol, available with either 66kW or 85kW.The new engine offers a balancer shaft in order to neutralise the vibration and harshness traditionally associated with a three-cylinder powerplant. In addition to that engine, there will also be a new version of the 1.4 litre turbo engine from the Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic, retuned for maximum fuel efficiency and strong mid-range performance.The Corsas high-tech dash is belied by a refreshing lack of buttons. The new driver control centre is focussed and uncluttered and the mixture of gloss and matte surfaces add depth to the compact cockpit.

HARLEY-Davidson is recalling 66 421 Touring and CVO Touring motorcycles from the 2014 model year because their front wheels can lock up without warning. Motorcycles with anti-lock brakes built between 1 July 2013 and 7 May 2014, are included in the recall, including 302 in Sub-Saharan Africa, not all of which have been sold yet. The maker says the front brake line can get pinched between the fuel tank and the frame. That causes front brake-fluid pressure to increase, posing a risk that the front wheel could lock up while riding. The Motor Company knows of five crashes and two minor injuries related to the defect, which it discovered late in 2013 through warranty claims. CHINESE automaker Great Wall Motors comes to SA with a fleet of new models - and a concept - that reflect the company's upwardly mobile aspirations. While every Chinese brand still makes entry-level vehicles (there's a one billion-strong domestic market for them), GWM's feature-laden export models are considerably more ambitious than some of us are accustomed to from this maker. M4 COMPACT CROSSOVER This urban warrior is targeted at the young and trendy with distinctive styling, 180mm ground clearance, 16 alloys and standard kit that includes aircon, power windows and mirrors, power steering, rear parking sensors, radio/CD/MP3 player with USB and auxiliary support and Bluetooth connectivity. The M4 is powered by GWM's proven 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with intelligent variable valve timing, rated for 77kW at 6000 revs and 138Nm at 4200rpm. H6 CROSSOVER SUV The H6 is here, with all SA-market derivatives specced to what GWM calls Elite trim, with 17 alloy rims, full colour-coding with chrome detailing, roof rails, fog lamps front and rear, and tinted windows for the rear doors and tailgate. Also mated to a six-speed manual transmission and locally released early in 2014 is the H6 1.5T with a 1.5-litre turbopetrol four, boasting 110kW at 5600 revs and 210Nm from 2200 - 4500rpm, at a average of 8.5 litres per 100km.

C50 SEDAN GWM punts the C-segment C50 as its most sophisticated passenger car yet, with a 2700mm wheelbase providing generous inner space. Two trim levels are available in South Africa, each with a rake and reach-adjustable steering wheel, aircon, power steering, power windows and mirrors and comprehensive infotainment system. The flagship model has cruise control and rear parking sensors. The C50 has a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine for which GWM quotes 98kW at 5600 revs and 188Nm from 2000 - 4500rpm. The C30 is powered by a 1.5-litre VVT-I engine rated at 77kW and 138Nm, providing a top speed of 170km/h at a combined-cycle cost of 6.5 litres per 100km. STEED 6 CONCEPT First shown at the Shanghai Auto Show in China earlier this year, the Steed 6 went into production in China early in 2014 and will reach South Africa during the course of the year. Aimed at upmarket, leisure-oriented shoppers in the double-cab market, the Steed 6 is not only GWM's biggest bakkie yet, but also its most sophisticated and luxurious, with a touch-screen infotainment system, climate control, push-button start, six airbags, an electronic stability programme, hill hold, a differential lock and an intelligent all-wheel drive system. It's a big vehicle, 5430mm long on a 3200mm wheelbase, 1800mm wide and 1755mm high. Running on 17 alloys, it provides 200mm of ground clearance. The vehicle has a two-litre, 110kW/310Nm VGT turbodiesel, but it will come to market with a range of engines and transmissions. TAKING a page from the b o o k s o f R e n a u l t a n d Volkswagen, Toyota has taken its entry-level hatchback, the Etios, added a few details and created a crossover version dubbed the Etios Cross. Like all the others in this segment, the intention is to offer a vehicle for the adventurous, outdoor-living type, but at a bargain price.ExteriorShowing its adventurous intent from the start, the Etios Cross comes fitted with side cladding, 15-inch wheels, roof rails and a rear roof spoiler. The overall look, while it takes some getting used to, is certainly eye-catching and bold. Initially I didnt like it much, but I warmed up to it as the day went on and I think while its not handsome or pretty, its better looking than the standard Etios.InteriorInside, the Etios Crosss cabin is dark with black seats, paneling and piano black surface around the audio and air-con controls. The layout of everything is a bit busy and I find it untidy, but Im sure potential owners will be fine with it. There are some fit and finish issues that I came across, but nothing alarming.On the roadT h e E t i o s C r o s s c o m e s equipped with Toyotas 16-valve, 1,5-litre petrol engine with 66 kW and 132 N.m of torque. Its a revvy unit that gets going quickly and easily moved the light hatchback along. It comes fitted with a five-speed manual transmission. The short gearing helps the engine revs climb and allows for a quick build-up of speed should you need it.The launch route really tested the dynamics and handling of the vehicle. The steering is a bit vague, but its not completely devoid of feel. Theres enough there for you to know what the wheels are doing and for you to feel confident. Theres some roll through the corners, but overall, the Cross felt composed and capable of handling whatever was thrown its way. The light and compact body meant that piloting the Etios Cross in and around Johannesburg CBD was done with ease.

Here are tips to make your painting projects go smoother and faster while giving you a professional-looking finish that you'll be proud of. Tip 1: To avoid lap marks, roll the full height of the wall and keep a wet edge Lap marks are those ugly stripes caused by uneven layers of paint buildup. They occur when you roll over paint that's already partly dry. (In warm, dry conditions, latex paint can begin to stiffen in less than a minute!) The key to avoiding lap marks is to maintain a wet edge, so each stroke of your roller overlaps the previous stroke before the paint can begin to dry.To maintain a wet edge, start near a corner and run the roller up and down the full height of the wall, moving over slightly with each stroke. Move backward where necessary to even out thick spots or runs. Don't let the roller become nearly dry; reload it often so that it's always at least half loaded. Keep the open side of the roller frame facing the area that's already painted. That puts less pressure on the open side of the roller, so you're less likely to leave paint ridges Tip 2: Mix several cans of paint in a large bucket for a consistent color throughout the room. Paint color may vary slightly from one can to the next. If you have to open a new

can in the middle of a wall, the difference may be noticeable. Mixing the paints together eliminates the problem. IWhen coverage is difficult to estimate, add more rather than less. You can always pour the leftover back into cans. For large jobs, use the bucket and a roller screen rather than a roller tray. It's much faster to load your roller with the screen than to use a roller pan. Simply dunk the roller into the paint bucket, then roll it along the screen until it stops dripping. Tip 3: Let the paint dry, then cut the tape loose for a perfect edgeTip 4: Paint the trim ?rst, then the ceiling and wallsPros usually follow a certain order when painting a room. They paint the trim first, then the ceiling, then the walls. That's because it's easier (and faster) to tape off the trim than to tape off the walls. And you certainly don't

want to tape them both off! Tip 5: Prime and texture wall patches to avoid a blotchy ?nish. Freshly painted walls often look blotchy. The color is uniform, but the sheen isn't consistent. FIVE athletes from ASA Metals participated in the Comrades marathon this year. Unfortunately two of the five athletes could not complete the race due to illness. Mr Rufus Malepe said that they will most definitely compete again next year!The runners who finished the race were:Abednigo Tjie finished with a time of 08h54, he received a Bill Rowan medal; Ronny Maroga's time was 09h34, he achieved a Bronze medal; Pienas Magashule finished in 09h56 and also received a Bronze medal. Rufus Malepe and Elneth Thulare did not finish the race.

Daar gaan van daai groot swaaie wees, 'n reuse glybaan, Skulpies, stalletjies en 'n verskeidenheid springkastele om maar net 'n paar te noem. Julle sal maar moet kom kyk, dit gaan Awesome wees!!!Om die kleintjies besig te hou is Arty Tots Burgersfort ook daar, hulle gaan vingerverf, kleispeel en sommer lekker morsig wees met pret. Burgersfort Animal Farm gaan ook kom kuier met hul klein perdjies en 'n koets vir 'n oulike fotogeleentheid. SASKO gaan ook daar wees soos altyd en hulle bederf ons altyd met 'n klomp geskenke en SASKO goodies. Moet asseblief nie vergeetvan die inkleurkompetsie nie. Die jaar moes die Laerskoolkinders hul eie prentjies teken en daar was 'n hele klomp kreatiewe oorspronklike en oulike idees. Die top 10 van elk ouderdomsgroep is hieronder en die wenners sal op die dag om 16:00 afgekondig word vanaf die hoof verhoog.
