We are gearing up for another season of soccer with three teams expected this year, including the participation of children from St. Barnabas Catholic School. The first game will be on September 12. Can you help? If so, contact Coach Harri at 205-492-4245.

Parish School of Religion

RCIA – Learn about the Catholic Faith

We will again have RCIA at St. Barnabas this year; please invite someone to “come & see” what the Catholic Church is all about! CLASSES BEGIN THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10.

It could be a non-Catholic spouse, a fallen-away family member, a co-worker who always asks you questions about faith, a neighbor… anyone! If you do not invite them, who will?

RCIA stands for “Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults” and, as the name implies, it is the initiation process for becoming Catholic. However, nobody is asked to “sign on the dotted line”! All we ask is that those who come have an interest in learning about the Catholic faith and an open heart to do God’s will.

Already Catholic and just want to “update” your faith or review the basics? This class is also for you. We had several parishioners from both parishes participate last year for this very purpose. Talk to Fr Jerabek if you’re interested!

NEW! Learning Center Funding

Several very generous benefactors have helped us get our Learning Center going. We are just $3,431.92 short of the $20,792.92 that it has cost to date to set up this space, furnish it, and obtain most of the needed supplies for this school year. From here on out, it will have just a modest annual budget mostly for the purposes of purchasing office supplies. Can you help us pay off this initial expense? If you’d like to donate, please speak with Fr. Jerabek. Thanks!

FIRST FRIDAY MASS & HOLY HOUR

Friday, September 4 at 1:30pm at Holy Rosary. The Holy Hour will follow Mass, to conclude with Benediction at 3:00pm. FIRST SATURDAY MASS

Saturday, Sept. 5 at 8:30am at St. Barnabas. Learning Center – Can You Volunteer?

Would you volunteer to help children do homework and/or read once or twice a month? We hope to instill in them a love of learning and reading! If you wish to help, please contact Mary Kaye Gubenski at 205-821-6267. Get Ready for Labor Day

Labor Day is almost here, so it’s time to think about ordering a Boston butt, ribs, or chicken from the Knights of Columbus! Sales support charitable work! Flyer on back with more info.

There will be games, food, arts and craft booths, shopping, and entertainment. Proceeds from the festival support Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and various community ministries & programs.
