Rafting the Chattahoochee

Blast!Indulging the

Wild Adventurer

Columbus is a city of high-thrill adventures; we make it easy and fun

to put a dent in your bucket list. Let your feet dangle as you fly across the Chattahoochee River on a zip line. Get wet and wild on a raft slipping through the river’s rapids. Or keep two feet on the ground as you walk or jog along the Chattahoochee RiverWalk. These are some of our favorite things to do.

GET MOVING Walk, run, skate, or bike the Chattahoochee RiverWalk, our 22-mile linear park that hugs the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Part of an expansive local trail system called The Dragonfly, the RiverWalk provides a blend of cityscapes and untouched wildlife. Extend your journey on The Dragonfly where the RiverWalk meets the 11-mile Fall Line Trace rails-to-trails path. No bike? No problem! Bike shops in Columbus will rent you a set of wheels.

“This is a fantastic scenic path along the Chattahoochee River. Well worth the visit.”

RIDE THE RAPIDS Raft or kayak the longest urban whitewater course in the world from Columbus’ RushSouth Whitewater Park! Whether you choose the mild, classic trip with Class I-II rapids, or take the plunge on the challenge trip with Class III-IV+ rapids, you’ll have an experience that is distinctly Columbus. 1000 Bay Ave. 706.321.4720 whitewaterexpress.com

Today they make for some of the prettiest photographs in the state. The rare plumleaf

azalea grows only in this region and blooms during July and August when most azaleas have lost their color. (on leash) 8930 Canyon Rd. Lumpkin, GA 31815 229.838.6202 gastateparks.org/ProvidenceCanyon
