For 21st Century S.T.R.E.A.M. Summer Camp Information (Please see reverse side) What is 21st Century? The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (Title IV, Part B) program supports the creation of opportunities for academic enrichment during non-school hours for children. The program helps students meet state academic subjects, such as reading and mathematics; offers students enrichment activities that complement regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. Aberdeen Elementary School administrators and staff select 100 students to participate in the 21st Century program based on individual student’s SOL’s, academic, and social development needs. In addition, to academic remediation students also receive enrichment opportunities. 21st Century Session Information Session 1: October 4 - December 7 Session 2: January 8 - February 21 Session 3: March 11 - March 28 Session 4: April 9 - May 16 Session Times: 2:05p.m.-4:35p.m. Transportation home is provided at 4:35 p.m. Extended Time (option) to 6:00 p.m. Participant’s have the option to participate in the extended time through School Age Programs for additional enrichment (Student’s must sign up prior to attending SAP). 21st Century Highlights and Acknowledgements

During the holiday season Alternatives, Inc., and First Books donated 2,330 books to Aberdeen Elementary School students and their families. This effort promoted the importance of literacy at home by providing each family with five books.

21st Century S.T.R.E.A.M. Summer Camp This summer through the 21st Century grant, Aberdeen will offer S.T.R.E.A.M.

Summer Camp! S.T.R.E.A.M. is a STEM based camp that focuses on the total student growth in the areas of science, technology, recreation/redirection (mentoring), art and math. Students will engage in fun, interactive activities, along with recreation, enrichment and great field trips. S.T.R.E.A.M. Summer Camp will incorporate exciting trips and engaging activities with NASA, Virginia Air and Space Museum, Norfolk Tides, Alternatives, Inc. and much more. S.T.R.E.A.M. is a free camp for selected students that attend Aberdeen Elementary School.

21st Century S.T.R.E.A.M Summer Camp will be offered June 24-August 5th, Monday through Thursday, from 12:30p.m. to 4:30p.m . Students will receive a free lunch from the USDA food program. Transportation will be provided home for all students at the conclusion of the camp day.

Parents/guardians will be required to sign field trip permission slips in order for their child to attend. Below are field trip dates for the summer (field trips are subject to change):
