Welcome from the SCA (NSW) President
Welcome to the 2016 Annual Convention. With the new legislation to be implemented in just over a month. it’s never been a better time for the industry to come together.
As you know we have been gearing up for the new legislation for a very long time. We’ve attended meetings, written a number of submissions, consulted with members and even engaged lobbyists to assist us to negotiate with the NSW Government. And here we are.
This year’s program is packed with information aimed at assisting you to ‘Evolve’ – the theme of this year’s Convention. We have created a program that will give a good mix of information, updates and opportunities to discuss the upcoming changes.
I am looking forward to hearing from our keynote speaker Mr John McGrath, who is an example of someone who is constantly evolving. I hope you will all join me in listening to what he has to say, which I think is going to give us all a boost.
There are a number of sessions that are designed to update you and add to your skills as a strata manager and sessions that are practical and ideal for principals who are looking to add to their corporate knowledge. I encourage you to carefully select the program that is going to help you the most and don’t be afraid to ask questions and get involved in the various discussions that will no doubt occur.
I also hope that you will attend the legislation in focus sessions where you will gain insights from prominent SCA (NSW) members David Bannerman and Reena Van Alast who have a wealth of strata experience between them, and Fair Trading’s Michael Courtney who is a regular contributor to both the Convention and Strata Owners Day programs and our recent legislation roadshows. Please join in the conversation and hear what others have to say.
I know we all have a lot on at the moment so use the Convention as an opportunity to ask questions, gain knowledge, network and socialise.
Finally a thank you to our sponsors who provide us with the means for all this to happen and to the SCA (NSW) team who are the ones who actually do make it happen.
