Tuesday 7 August – Friday 10 August The 2018 NEAA Student Leadership Conference will be held in Tasmania at St Mary’s College, Hobart. The Conference theme ‘Light our way’ will take parcipants on a journey of past, present and future, and focus on Nano Nagle’s message of jusce, compassion and care for others. The Conference is open to Year 10 students from NEAA schools throughout Australia at a cost of $200 per student (no cost for staff accompanying students). Schools are required to arrange their own flights, airport transfers, accommodaon and some meals. Parcipants are encouraged to arrive early and aend the pre-conference barbecue on Tuesday aſternoon. We trust that this program will enable your students to engage with other young people from NEAA schools to discuss social jusce issues, share their passion for leadership and learn more about the Presentaon charism and Nano Nagle. The 2018 NEAA Student Leadership Conference will be held in Tasmania at St Mary’s College, Hobart. The Conference theme ‘Light our way’ will take participants on a journey of past, present and future, and focus on Nano Nagle’s message of justice, compassion and care for others.

The Conference is open to Year 10 students from NEAA schools throughout Australia at a cost of $200 per student (no cost for staff accompanying students). Schools are required to arrange their own flights, airport transfers,

accommodation and some meals.

Participants are encouraged to arrive early and attend the pre-conference barbecue on Tuesday afternoon. We trust that this program will enable your students to engage with other young people from NEAA schools to discuss social justice issues, share their passion for leadership and learn more about the Presentation charism and Nano Nagle.

DAY ONE Tuesday 7 August (Uniform)

4.00pm-7.00pm Opening reflection and welcome barbecue We welcome schools visiting from across Australia to St Mary’s College. Follow the lanterns to the Mary Morgan Wing. This is an opportunity to meet other students attending the conference as we introduce ourselves over a barbecue dinner and discuss how our Presentation schools ‘Light our way’.

DAY TWO Wednesday 8 August (Free dress)

9.00am Morning gathering10.00am Excursion We take a bus to learn about our past, the indigenous Mouheneener and Moomairremener people and the location of the first British ‘Settlement’ of Van Dieman’s Land (Tasmania) in 1803. We continue to St John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Richmond and walk the journey of the first Presentation Sisters in Australia. A packed lunch will be supplied.

2.00pm See our city* See our city at your own leisure for the rest of the afternoon. Take a look inside your welcome pack for suggestions of sites to explore. Visit the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), discover Hobart’s iconic buildings and parks, wander along the waterfront of Salamanca Place or find a cozy cafe for a hot chocolate.

* These activities are to be arranged by visting schools.

DAY THREE Thursday 9 August (Free dress)

9.00am Guest speakers We hear from members of the St Mary’s College community.

10.30am Workshops We will rotate between several workshops including the Social Impact Program, Fermoy Cottage archive centre, Presentation Sisters and a combined Presentation Schools art collage project.

12.30pm Lunch We will supply you with a packed lunch.

1.30pm Workshops We continue with our workshops and learn how to share the charism in preparation for Friday’s leadership session.

3.45pm Closing liturgy and free time before dinner5.30pm Conference dinner (cost included) Best Western Hotel, 156 Bathurst Street, Hobart.

DAY FOUR Friday 11 August (Uniform)

9.00am Presentation leadership You will have the opportunity to put your new leadership and mentoring skills to good use with St Mary’s Junior School students and other students visiting from local Presentation primary schools.

12.00pm Senior School assembly and farewell12.55pm Final prayer (ends 1.10pm) A packed lunch will be supplied.
