INNOVATING FOR OUR FUTURE
Innovative Products, Processes, and Technologies
Breakfast Keynote - Industrial IoT Revolution –
Washington State is Positioned for Success
Speakers: Rich Rogers, Xemelgo and Bill Hill, Elevat / Western Integrated Technologies
There is an active revolution taking place in the industrial world today. Germany has launched "Industrie 4.0", China has launched "Made in China 2025", and many other geographies are participating. Bill Hill of Elevāt. IoT and Rich Rogers of Xemelgo covered the Industrial IoT revolution, technologies, use cases, and why Seattle is positioned for success.

Break-Out Session 2
Visualization Software to Maximize IoT Value
Speaker: Ryan McMahon, Autodesk / IMIGINIT Technologies
• Autodesk is moving into Manufacturing and want to help our customer better understand what is happing in their production environment.
• Summary of Fusion Production • Summary of FDU • Approach to IoT • Digital twin provides context to data • Demonstration – (video as backup) • Discussion & Questions
Break-Out Session 1
Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing
Speaker: Adnan Siddiqui, SeeAlgo
• What is AI? – nontechnical explanation of AI and why it has appeared everywhere today in the business world even though the concept is more than 50 years old
• AI or Machine Learning or Big Data – explain the relationship between these three terms • What are the common uses of AI today? – general uses of AI (e.g. image recognition,
natural language processing, robot control, data analysis) • AI in Manufacturing – current and emerging applications of AI in manufacturing • Possible future developments in AI for manufacturing – long-term view of AI research
and applications in the next five to ten years • How to get started with integrating high ROI AI in your manufacturing business – what
are some high return AI techniques ready for integration today even for businesses that don’t in-house expertise or a large budget

Break-Out Session 3
Blockchain Applications
Speakers: Matt Kosche and Anthony Hargreaves, Clark Nuber Blockchain is one of the key innovations for the 21st century. Created by a person or a group of people known by the pseudonym, Satoshi Nakamoto. But since its conception in 2008, it has evolved into something much greater which no doubt is having a global impact. So, what is blockchain? In this presentation they were provided a 101 on the workings of blockchain with some commentary on how this technology is currently being used across crypto currencies such a Bitcoin, but more importantly how it will be applied to other industries and what impact or disruption that will have on those sectors.

Break-Out Session 4 - Human Systems Topgrading
Speaker: Michael Langhout
• Topgrading fixes your #1, most persistent, most frustrating problem – picking talent!
Extensive research shows you are typical if the people you hire turn out to be:
• Good Hires; 25% high performers; A performers| Mis-Hires ; 50% disappointing, “adequate,” but not as good as others available at the same pay; B performers; |25%
serious, costly mis-hires; C performers.
• This presentation provided a sequence of practical applied practice activities to teach Topgrading methods that dramatically reduce the extremely high costs of
mis-hires and achieve up to 90% high performers hired.

Break-Out Session 5 - SMED –
Single Minute Exchange of Dies or Quick Changeover Speaker: Jeff Root
Attendees learned how GM Nameplate has leveraged Quick Changeovers or Single Minute
Exchange of Dies to dramatically increase manufacturing flexibility, while reducing
manufacturing batch sizes, and lead times.

Lunch Keynote - Using Collaborative Robot (Cobots)
for Business Control Speaker: Craig Tomita
Universal Robots brought their small, UR3 (3kg maximum payload) robot. All UNIVERSAL
ROBOTS run on standard 110V AC, household current.
UR+ is a section of their website devoted to matching up manufacturers with end-effectors, hardware, software. UR+ companies are 3rd party companies that have submitted their products to UNIVERSAL ROBOTS for testing, vetting, and certification for compatibil-ity. They provide the ecosystem to make it easy to manufacturers to get compatible products that work with their robots, directly from those manufacturers.
https://www.universal-robots.com/plus/
They also have the UR Academy that provides free, interactive training on our robots – enough to quickly get started. Each of their four (4) US offices: Ann Arbor, MI; Dallas, TX;
Garden City, NY, and Irvine, CA offers free training.

Break-Out Session 6
Future Technology Innovations for Manufacturing Speakers: Ben Marsh, Scout Systems – Chase Mueller, Brooks Running –
Jim Pass, ModifI - Andrew Robing, Epicor Software – Hub Gilbert, nextLevel –
Steve Kidd, CIMtech
A panel discussion moderated by Dan Kocer with 6 executive panelists that are deeply
involved and invested in the future of manufacturing. The objective was to provide a vision of
how manufacturing will change and improve for medium-sized companies over the next 5
years. What technological and organizational changes are on the horizon that will be a
competitive advantage? What do manufacturers need to do now to prepare for and take
advantage of these opportunities? What preparation is needed for the organization, training
and hiring, management, facilities, and technology? The purpose of this panel discussion is
to look at all of the future technologies (robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT,
etc.) and learn how they will impact your business.
