Mike Adams was the first Javelina to play in Major League Baseball breaking in with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004. Over the past few seasons he has gained a reputation as one of the top setup men in all of baseball. In 2011, he was traded from the San Diego Padres to the Texas Rangers in the middle of the pennant race and performed well. In the postseason, he notched a win in Game Two of the World Series. He signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Phillies in Dec. 2012 and boasted a 2.89 ERA in 22 games for the Fightin’ Phils.

Adams had his Javelina jersey #31 retired at a ceremony on campus on Jan. 20, 2011.
