Registration Deadline: Friday, June 3
Meeting registration fees include: meeting registration costs, the President’s Welcome Dinner Friday evening and breakfast on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
All meeting attendees are required to pay the meeting registration fee, including those who plan to attend a committee meeting and/or seminar only. The meeting registration fee is also required for spouses and guests who plan to participate in any events or tours.
The meeting registration fee will be waived for professional program speakers (but not for their spouses, guests, or children where required.) Fellows elected to ACTEC in October 2015 (Monterey, CA), or March 2016 (Las Vegas, NV) are entitled to waive the registration fee for either the 2016 Summer Meeting or the 2016 Fall Meeting. Please indicate eligibility on the meeting registration form.

Late Meeting Registration
Meeting registrations received by ACTEC after the deadline will be charged an additional $ 50 per person. Meeting attendees may register onsite after the registration deadline.
Meeting Cancellations
Meeting cancellations and registration fee refund requests must be submitted in writing to ACTEC before the registration deadline at [email protected]. A $ 100 per person cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund (not to exceed $ 200 per family).

Meeting Registration Reductions or Refunds
No reductions or refunds are available to meeting attendees who do not participate in special events or activities included in the meeting registration fee.
Tour Registration
Meeting attendees must register to participate in tours and additional fees apply. Tour registrations received after June 3, the registration deadline, will be charged an additional $ 10 per tour, per person. Advance tour registration is recommended as tours are capped at a maximum number of participants, and many sell out early.
Tour Cancellations
Tour registration fees are refundable in full if canceled by the registration deadline. Refunds will not be issued after the deadline unless the tour reservation can be resold. A $ 10 service fee applies to resold tours. Tour registration fees will be refunded if the minimum number of participants required to operate a tour is not met, and the tour is canceled. If the number of participants exceeds the maximum number of participants permitted, fees for overbooked participants will be refunded.

Air, Train, or Car
(Boston) Logan International Airport (BOS) is located 9.5 miles from the Westin Copley Place (5.5 miles via toll road.)
Approximately 40 airlines serve Boston and it is a primary hub for American Airlines, Delta, and JetBlue Airways.
Amtrak rail service connects Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Baltimore, Portland (ME) and other points nationwide. Amtrak trains depart from South Station (Red Line), Back Bay Station (Orange Line) and North Station (Green and/or Orange Line) 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245).
Amtrak’s high-speed train Acela provides fast service along the Northeast Corridor High-Speed Rail between Washington, New York and Boston.
Boston’s Commuter Rail (MBTA) services the outlying Boston suburbs. Service is available from several “T” stations, but most departures take place at North Station, South Station and Back Bay Station.
Ground Transportation
Shuttle: Airport shuttle or shared van service is provided by major companies including Go Airport Shuttle and SuperShuttle. Current fare from BOS to Copley Place is approximately $ 17 one way.
Taxi: Taxi service is available throughout the city. From Logan International Airport to most hotels in Boston and Cambridge, current fares are approximately $ 25-$ 35, one way.

The practice of lawyers serving as fiduciaries has a long history and is relatively commonplace today in certain parts of the country, particularly Massachusetts. The scope of services provided by such lawyers and their firms varies widely, however. Some will act as trustee and rely on outside service providers to handle many aspects of the fiduciary function, such as bookkeeping, accounting, and investment management. Others offer fully integrated fiduciary services, including investment management, either through the law firm itself, or a combination of services provided by law firm personnel and professionals employed by a wholly owned or affiliated registered investment adviser or trust company. This session will explore the phenomenon of the lawyer as trustee and the different business models used by law firms to offer integrated fiduciary services, from both a large and smaller firm perspective. Session III: “It’s a Whole New Ballgame” — Trust Directors with Powers to Advise/Consent/Direct and with Powers of Protectors

This presentation will discuss the various roles lawyers fulfill related to our clients’ trusts – advisor, advocate, amender, approver, consenter, director, enforcer, mediator, remover, tie-breaker and trustee, are among some of the titles. Some of these functions involve the direction of a trustee in carrying out ordinary duties in administration of a trust, such as directing the trustee as to trust investments or discretionary distributions from the trust. Other functions involve decisions that would otherwise be made by courts or that would not easily be made by trustees due to the trustees’ fiduciary duties to beneficiaries. Over three decades, Isabella Stewart Gardner traveled the world and worked with important art patrons and advisors to amass a remarkable collection of master and decorative arts. Suggested attire: Sunglasses, a hat or visor, and sunscreen. A change of clothes is also suggested; dry bags will be provided.

Note: Water is generally calm and flat but can become choppy at times depending on wind, weather, and water conditions. Activity is weather dependent.

Join a 90-minute “merroir and terroir” oyster and wine pairing, led by a professional oyster connoisseur who expertly pairs the oysters to the select wine. Learn about the different oyster styles and why the flavors of each are affected by where they are grown. This is a truly original Boston experience.

A Guided Walk through the Back Bay’s Emerald Necklace Conservancy

In the heart of Boston and extending to Brookline, the historic Emerald Necklace park system serves as the backyard for city residents and a destination for more than one million visitors each year.
Stretching from Back Bay to Dorchester, this inviting green space connects people and nature, just as landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted intended when he designed it more than 100 years ago. With its gardens, historic bridges and scenic waterway, it’s hard to imagine the area was once marsh and muddy flats. Surrounding the park are some of Boston’s finest museums, institutions and colleges.
Learn about the life and vision of Olmsted and the history of the park, beginning at the Shattuck Emerald Necklace Visitor Center, a former gatehouse designed by architect H.H. Richardson, meander through the Back Bay Fens and visit the Kelleher Rose Garden and stroll through the oldest World War II Victory Gardens in America.
