The 701st Meeting of the Drifters Jeep Club was called to order at 6:400 pm by Patrick Fay at the Torrey Residence in Ontario. Flag Salute was led by Daryl Romano via teleconference Roll Call was taken by David Meyer Members 19, Guests 0, Qualifying 0 Minutes of previous meeting were not read since it had been four months since we actu-ally had a meeting. Treasurers Report: Current statement from the bank reads $3087.37. Next month we will have a better reporting of Regular Fund, Jr Drifter Fund and Party Fund. Bills to be Paid: $21.75 to David Meyer for trophy for Drifter of the Year Delegates report: None
Old Business:
June Run: John Williams, Frank Cattern, Fred Valdepena, Rob Pischke trail bosses. None of the trail bosses attended this meet-ing. Tris reported it was partially uphill and the rest downhill with some rocks. Run was to John Bull from Big Bear and several mem-bers had problems: Pete had shock problem and Tris had partial break failure. Hopefully, we will have a trail boss report in the newslet-ter this month. (hint, hint)
New Business:
July Run: Peter Dewhurst, Arnold Taffoya, Joey Morrison, Mark Bargman trail bosses to Onyx Summit. Pre-run was done Friday. Date July 18 to Heartbreak Ridge. Joey brought maps. August Run: August 14-16 Vail Lake. We have 13 members confirmed with campsites. Although this is low attendance, it was voted and seconded that we proceed and allocate
$400 for raffle prizes. There will be no kids raffle as we no longer have the need. Norm Gerwein volunteered to be in charge or pur-chases. We will need to bring tables and EZ Ups to accommodate the raffle prizes as the camp tables cannot be relocated for that pur-pose. We will set up early and give viewing time for social distancing perusal of the items. Club meeting will be held before the day’s other activities on Saturday at 11-12, it was rumored there will be a Bloody Mary bar and donuts. Due to COVID, we will each provide our own side dishes and dine with smaller groups, but steaks (whatever is on sale – not necessarily Rib Eye) and Boiled Corn will be provided by the club. You MUST get your res-ervation in as soon as possible if you want to attend.

I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me on my quest to be President of The Drifters. I believe if you belong to an outstanding group of four wheelers, you should be active and show support to that group. The Drifters have a large group of members compared to other 4x4 clubs. This is because we are like family in this club. We support each other through thick and thin. I want to send positive thoughts to Daryl and his family to get better soon so they can join us again. This has been a tough year so far and we will have to work around it and be safe. Thank you all for being at the July meeting. I would like to especially thank Jerry and Linda for hosting the July meeting in their backyard with Marshall as our watchdog. Our next meeting will be at the Past Presidents Picnic on August 15, 2020. Shannon and Judi will be making Bloody Mary’s at 10am, meeting will be at 11:00am. It will be a short meeting before our Bar-b-que and auction. I will be taking suggestions for meeting locations in the coming months. We had a great run last Saturday in Big Bear. It was a good turnout for my first run as president. We had great weather and 27 jeeps. All the new officers were on the run. It was good to be out of the house and seeing fellow Drifters enjoy-ing themselves, telling stories and having some new adventures. Hope to have many more runs in the future. Thank you… President Gary

August Run PPP Vail Lake KOA
Patrick Fay (909)532-2017 All Past Presidents
Past Presidents Picnic is still going to happen. August 14-16. We will need to be responsible and look out for our fellow members. Wear a face covering and wash your hands frequently. If you are not comfortable attending by all means, stay home. At the July meeting we discussed our plans to manage the PPP with social distancing as much as possible. It was agreed that we will not have a potluck. Families and friends will make their own side dishes and share at their own space. I will be grilling steaks and boiling corn still. We will try to get the raffle prizes out early to display so there isn’t a big crush to view the raffle prizes. Our turnout is extremely low for RV sites. 12 as of now. If you plan on going please call 951 303 0173. Tell them you are with the Drifters for the reduced rate. I will be cancelling all unused sites the first week of August. If you are coming for the day, please let me know. 909 532 2017 call or text. Email works too. [email protected]. If you have any questions or con-cerns, please let me know I hope to see you all there.
