COOKING 1 st – 4 th Quarter Students will measure, assemble, bake, and experiment with all types of food. Beginning or advanced chefs are all welcome! Enrollment: minimum 5, maximum 14 Instructor: Mrs. McCutcheon ENGINEERING 1 st – 4 th Quarter In this STEAM program, students will be building Rube Goldberg “Mouse Trap” chain- reaction machines featuring levers, pulleys, and other simple machines. Engineering and physics concepts will be introduced and reinforced through hands-on, innovative lessons and creative play time. Problem solving skills and teamwork will be put to the test as the complexity of the projects increases from week to week. On the final class, there will be a building competition! STUDENT COUNCIL 2nd - 4th Quarter K-5th FREE Student council will focus on demonstrating leadership in our school and in the community through involvement in planning school events and participation in service projects. Enrollment: Unlimited Instructors: Mrs. McCutcheon, Ms. Lescher, Ms. Schenkel CHESS The children will learn how to play chess and proper chess etiquette. They will compete with each other and in a local tournament. Instructors are ranked players with the USCF. Enrollment: minimum 6 Instructor: Chess Scholars GIRLS SOCCER The Legends Soccer Club focuses intensely on creating brave creative leaders for life. Our no guilt, no shame, no blame philosophy gives kids the confidence to get out of their comfort zone and create the big play in any situation! Enrollment: minimum 5, maximum 15 Instructor: Legends Soccer PAPER ART CLUB Students will explore how paper can be used imaginatively within contemporary design thus giving new life to one of the most ancient arts. We will study the work of Colombian- born Diana Beltran Herrera who specializes in amazing paper recreations of nature. Enrollment: maximum 15 Instructor: Ms. Linardatou CHOIR The children will enhance their public speaking skills through singing. They will perform various music selections from a targeted group of artists. Instructors: Ms. Hill and Sra. Artiga DANCE 4:00 – 4:45pm (K-2) The children will learn all the moves from the latest popular dance craze. The students will learn how to develop choreography while adding syncopation, staccato style movement, basic kick and jump moves. 4:45 - 5:30pm (3-5) Enrollment: minimum 5 Instructor: Steppin Out Dance KARATE A martial arts program that builds character and prepares our students to face life's challenges. With a no contact curriculum we focus on building a foundation for life skills that will help our students to become good people. Using fun motivational activities keeps the students focused and continually learning while building confidence and desire to try new things which ultimately builds their self-esteem.
