Greensboro is the place for your next meeting or convention.

With a wide selection of venues, we can easily accommodate

events of all sizes.

Officially established in 1808 and names after Revolutionary War patriot commander Nathanael Greene, Greensboro is located in picturesque Guilford County in central North Carolina and midpoint on the East Coast. The city is a center for business, industry and education and is home to more than a quarter million people.

With its central location on the east coast and along the interstate corridor, Greensboro is a convenient destination by plane, car or rail. Interstates 40 and 85 and the future I-73 and I-74 converge in Greensboro, and Piedmont Triad International Airport offers non-stop daily flights to and from cities across the United States. In downtown Greensboro, the J. Douglas Gaylon Depot offers passenger rail service to New York, Charlotte and Raleigh.

Greensboro is also home of the largest hotel and convention complex between Atlanta and Washington, D.C., a state-of-the-art coliseum complex and a host of full-service hotel and resorts, Greensboro provides its visitors with a wealth of options.

In every season, Greensboro offers a pleasant climate and warm-spirited Southern hospitality. Add an outstanding collection of golf courses, shopping venues, gourmet restaurants and eclectic eateries, energetic nightlife, sports, museums, galleries and festivals to the mix and it’s easy to see why Greensboro has the winning combination for your meeting or convention.

Flexibility is integrated into every aspect of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. For each of the over 1,100 events presented annually, a variety of configurations are possible. The 120,000-square-foot Special Events Center can be partitioned into four separate halls, leaving 60,000 square feet for exhibits and a 5,000 general seating setup for group sessions or entertainment.

Completed in March 2003, the Pavilion is a permanent, fabric-walled structure adjacent to the Special Events Center. With 30,000 square feet of exhibition space, the Pavilion is fully heated and air conditioned. The Pavilion hosts the Atlantic Coast Conference’s FanFest during the ACC Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournaments, as well as numerous concerts, consumer shows and product launches.

Other options for a convention are the 22,000-seat capacity Arena. A downsizing curtain in the Arena can bring the seating capacity down to as low as 4,500. The curtain can be raised in various sections to increase or decrease the Arena seating capacity as event attendance projections fluctuate. Another 20,000 square feet of meeting space in the more intimate Odeon Theatre provides maximum comfort and convenience for any occasion.

As a multipurpose facility, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex regularly hosts a variety of entertainment events, including family performances, such as circus and ice shows, hockey games; college basketball tournaments; Broadway touring productions; symphony and opera performance; consumer shows; arena football; and popular music concerts.

Not only have renovations made the Greensboro Coliseum Complex one of the largest in the nation, but they also have put the facility on the leading edge of technological convenience. State-of-the-art sound, rigging, lighting and partitioning curtains for various seating configurations create the ideal environment for meetings and events. Adjacent to the Arena are star-quality dressing rooms, locker rooms, press/media rooms and photographer workrooms.

Smaller conferences and meetings will enjoy the 298-seat Odeon Theatre. A theatrical lighting and control system, follow spot and adjoining dressing rooms offer flexibility of use for the 500-square-foot stage. When used with the Arena, the Odeon Theatre complements the interactive requirements of press conferences, seminars and meetings.

Page 18: 2015 Greensboro CVB Meeting Planners Guide

The Terrace Opened in March 2011, The Terrace at theGreensboro Coliseum Complex is a 12,900-square-footbanquet facility located adjacent to the Greensboro Coliseum and War Memorial Auditorium. The three-level, column-free space is ideal for hosting speaking engagements, hospitality functions and upscale dining events in a luxurious, richly decorated setting. Large wedding receptions, banquets up to 450 and cocktail parties up to 800 will fit nicely into this unique venue.

The Special Events Center offers ample space for any occasion. Its 120,000-square-foot exhibition hall features 80,000 square feet of column-free floor space that can be transformed into a 5,000-seat, 60,000-square-foot mini-arena. The Special Events Center also offers 20,000 square feet of meeting facilities and it can accommodate up to 650 10’ x 10’ exhibit booths.

The 57-acre Greensboro Coliseum Complex features more than 6,000 parking spaces, six floor-level entry docs and three drive-in entrances for easy loading. In-house electrical, compressed air, water, telephone and cable services are also available.

An added service feature is provided by Ovations Food Services, the facility’s exclusive in-house catering company. Providing full-service meals for groups of 10 to 8,000, Ovations puts meeting planners at ease by attending to all their catering needs. Ovations offers a wide variety of culinary delights to suit any event, from traditional fare to themed, exotic menus.

Center City Park is a private two-acre park located in the heart of downtown Greensboro. The outdoor park is comfortable and functional for large-scale events as well as for small groups and individuals to relax and socialize.

Design inside the park is composed of a number of artworks and interpretive elements. Larger park features include the Great Lawn, Oval Lawn, Pavilion, fountain and pergolas.

The Great Lawn, adjacent to the main entrance, is oriented to overlook the fountain and slopes down toward Davie Street, forming a natural amphitheater. The Oval Lawn and Pavilion create a venue for intimately scaled activities and daily events. The Pavilion provides protection from the sun and bad weathers, as well as housing restrooms, support facilities for vendors and special events. The design and detailing of the pergolas, which are wooden canopy structures with intricately woven details, are inspired by the shuttle and weaving loom, recalling the importance of the textile industry to the early growth of Greensboro.

The fountain is an abstract representation of the seasonal streambeds found throughout North Carolina’s Piedmont region.

Since 1964, The Barn Dinner Theatre has been dedicated to

providing a quality dining experience along with Broadway style

performances or as we call it...Dinnertainment! It is proud to be the

oldest continually operating dinner theatre in the United States.

From a small social with finger foods, cocktails and dancing with a band

or DJ, to the full Barn buffet and Broadway-style show, The Barn Dinner

Theatre is flexible in accommodating most any kind of event. With an

on-site kitchen, a powerful sound system, and a theatre in-the-round,
