    2015 Spring Outlook

After a record-breaking season in 2014, Georgia looks to find a new offensive rhythm as it adjusts to a revamped coaching staff on that side of the ball. The Bulldog defense aims to fill gaps left by key contributors and continue improvements from the pre-vious season. Georgia is returning 16 starters seven on offense, six on defense and three on special teams. Here is a look at this years Bulldogs:

QUARTERBACKS Georgia went into the 2014 season knowing it would only get one season from fifth-year quarterback Hutson Mason who fin-ished the season ranked second in the SEC in passing efficiency. Mason was 188-of-277 for 2,168 yards, 21 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Now the Bulldogs, behind new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Schottenheimer, will have options with the return of two contributors from the previous season, Brice Ramsey (6-3, 216, RSo.) and Faton Bauta (6-3, 218, Jr.). Ramsey, the only returning letterman in the position group, was the first QB off the bench throughout Georgias 2014 campaign and finished 24-of-39 for 333 yards and three touchdowns in eight appear-ances. Bauta saw action in three games throughout 2014, tallying 48 passing yards on 4-of-5 attempts and adding 17 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The Bulldogs also have two redshirt freshmen QBs in Jacob Park (6-4, 202, So.) and Sam Vaughn (6-3, 188, So.). Park directed the scout team offense in his redshirt year and will look for action in spring football, as well.

RUNNING BACKS Gone is All-SEC running back Todd Gurley who finished his three-year career with 3,285 yards rushing and 36 touchdowns to finish as the fourth-leading rusher in Georgia history. However, the Bulldogs will be glad to watch another All-SEC running back, Nick Chubb (5-10, 228, So.), and four additional lettermen return to the field this spring. With Gurley missing the majority of the 2014 season due to a suspension and injury, Chubb took a large amount of the of-fensive snaps in his first season, playing in all 13 games and start-ing the final eight. He finished the season with 1,547 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, trailing only Herschel Walker for the most yards rushing by a freshman. Chubb will be joined by a healthy Keith Marshall (5-11, 215, Sr.) who used 2014 as a redshirt year. Marshall has struggled with leg injuries the past two seasons. He contributed in the first five games of 2013 before tearing his ACL at Tennessee in early October. The start of the 2014 season allowed him to see only lim-ited action before leg injuries sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Sony Michel (5-11, 208, So.) and Brendan Douglas (5-11, 213, Jr.) will provide added depth for Georgia on the ground. Michel tallied 553 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns, one through the air and five on the ground. Douglas ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. The Bulldogs will return two lettermen at the fullback position, Quayvon Hicks (6-2, 257, Sr.) and Christian Payne (6-1, 222, So.). In 2014, Hicks contributed in all 13 games, including 85 yards and two scores on nine attempts.

WIDE RECEIVERS Georgia must replace its two leading receivers from the past two seasons in Michael Bennett and Chris Conley. However, Malcolm Mitchell (6-1, 195, Sr.) elected to stay a final year and will be aided by a deep receiving corps, which will only improve when the 2015 signees arrive in the fall. Mitchell was Georgias third-leading receiver with 31 catches for 248 yards and three scores. In his career, Mitchell has more than 1,400 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. The Bulldogs will also have help from Justin Scott-Wesley (5-11, 210, Jr.), Reggie Davis (6-0, 170, Jr.), Kenneth Towns (6-3, 201, RSo.), Isaiah McK-enzie (5-8, 164, So.) and Blake Tibbs (6-2, 180, Jr.). Scott-Wesley has been a go-to target on key scoring plays and will look to make a healthy comeback this spring. He also suf-fered an ACL tear in 2013 and dealt with lingering injuries through most of 2014. In his career, he has 28 receptions for 498 yards and four touchdowns.

TIGHT ENDS Jeb Blazevich (6-5, 232, So.) emerged as a strong con-tributor for the Bulldogs during his freshman campaign in 2014. He tallied 18 catches for 269 yards and two scores, with an aver-age of nearly 15 yards a reception. His most memorable catch may have come in the Vanderbilt game when Gurley lined up in the shotgun and threw a 50-yard-pass, Georgias longest of the season, to Blazevich. Jay Rome (6-6, 248, Sr.), who has 310 career receiving yards, will also be returning for the Bulldogs. In addition, Georgia will take a look at Jared Chapple (6-4, 227, Jr.), Jordan Davis (6-4, 230, RSo.) and Joseph Ledbetter (6-4, 235, Jr.). Davis played in six games in 2014 and registered three catches for 66 yards. Jackson Harris (6-5, 250, Fr.) enrolled in January and will be looking to stake a claim for playing time.

OFFENSIVE LINEMEN New offensive line coach Rob Sale will inherit a line of veterans this spring as only one starter was lost from the 2014 squad. That lineman, who was key to Georgias offensive success, was center David Andrews. With Andrews departure, a host of young lineman will work to gain a greater role this spring. The Bulldogs will return both starting tackles, John Theus (6-6, 313, Sr.) and Kolton Houston (6-5, 287, Sr.), and both start-ing guards, Greg Pyke (6-6, 321, Jr.) and Brandon Kublanow (6-3, 294, Jr.). Three additional lettermen Hunter Long (6-4, 302, Sr.), Isaiah Wynn (6-2, 283, So.) and Dyshon Sims (6-4, 302, So.) will also look to contribute in Georgias upcoming season and claim the spot at center.

  • BULLDOGS 9

2015 spring outlookDEFENSIVE LINEMEN The defensive line will have some holes to fill this spring with the absence of Ray Drew, Mike Thornton and Toby Johnson. However, several key playmakers are back. Both returning ends, Sterling Bailey (6-3, 280, Sr.) and Josh Dawson (6-4, 266, Sr.), played in every game of 2014 and set themselves up for big senior campaigns. Bailey tallied 27 tackles last season. Dawson had 17 tackles, including a sack and four for loss. His finest moment came in the form of a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the Tennessee game. The Bulldogs will also see the return of nose guard Chris Mayes (6-4, 317, Sr.) and tackle John Atkins (6-4, 299, RSo.). At-kins recorded nine tackles and a pass breakup in his 10 appear-ances last year, while Mayes added seven and one for a loss in his eight outings. The line will see a boost with the addition of young Bull-dogs in 2015. Two of those will participate in spring drills. Mi-chael Barnett (6-4, 255, Fr.) is a four-star defensive end and Jona-than Ledbetter (6-4, 265, Fr.) is a four-star defensive tackle, both of whom arrived in January as early enrollees.

OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS The Bulldogs will enjoy a 100 percent return rate of let-termen at the outside linebacker position. Jordan Jenkins (6-3, 252, Sr.) had 70 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble re-coveries in 2014 as a mainstay on the Bulldog defense. Leonard Floyd (6-4, 230, Jr.) proved to be a pass-rush-ing threat with a team-best six sacks among his 55 stops. He also had 17 quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles. Lorenzo Carter (6-6, 237, So.) quickly emerged as a top player for the Bulldogs with his 41 tackles, including seven for a loss and 4.5 sacks. Davin Bellamy (6-5, 240, RSo.) and James DeLoach (6-3, 276, Sr.) also added strength to Georgias defensive attack during the 2014 season.

INSIDE LINEBACKERS Georgia lost two of its defensive centerpieces in Amarlo Herrera and Ramik Wilson. They led the team in tackles and re-ceived All-SEC honors. Also, special teams standout Kosta Vav-las has graduated. Therefore, the returning lettermen, along with a host of early enrollees, will look to impress the coaches in hopes of a starting nod come fall. Tim Kimbrough (6-0, 230, Jr.) is the only returner to have played in all 13 games last season. He led the backups with 32 tackles. Reggie Carter (6-1, 231, Jr.) and Ryne Rankin (6-1, 215, Jr.) each saw time in 12 games. Carter tallied 28 stops and Rankin, who was a mainstay on special teams for Georgia, had six. Three new Bulldogs will also try to stake their claim in their first semester on campus. Natrez Patrick (6-3, 255, Fr.), the youngest of the group, was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. Chuks Amaechi (6-3, 220, Jr.) is a junior college transfer

while Jake Ganus (6-2, 215, Sr.) spent his first three seasons at UAB.

DEFENSIVE BACKS Jeremy Pruitts backfield saw considerable improvement in his first season as defensive coordinator. The Bulldogs, who had just seven interceptions in 2013, surpassed that number by the sixth game of 2014 and tallied 16 by the end of the season. All-SEC Second Teamer Damian Swann has completed his career so opportunities exist for the next generation. Behind Swann, Quincy Mauger (6-0, 199, Jr.) had 51 tackles and co-led the team with four interceptions, fourth-best in the conference. Also returning in the safety spot is Dominick Sanders (6-0, 187, So.) and Tramel Terry (6-0, 197, RSo.). Sanders had a breakout freshman season, playing in all 13 games and recording 34 stops, three interceptions and a 54-yard fumble recovery. Terry had six stops and an interception in 2014. Devin Bowman (6-0, 179, Sr.), Malkom Parrish (5-10, 194, So.) and Aaron Davis (6-1, 189, RSo.) all return for Georgia in the cornerback position. Both in their first season on the field, Davis had 40 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery, and Parrish added another 17 stops. Bowman finished the year with 19 tackles and 63-yard interception returned for a touchdown. Georgia rounds out its class of early enrollees with Jona-than Abram (6-1, 202, Fr.) and Jarvis Wilson (6-2, 197, Fr.). Both will work into the rotation in spring drills.

SPECIALISTS The Bulldogs return three key starters on special teams this spring, all of whom have contributed for several years. Mar-shall Morgan (6-3, 200, Sr.) finished the season hitting 16-of-21 field goals and 67-of-68 extra points. Morgan also handled kick-offs and averaged 61 yards a kick with 31 of his kickoffs resulting in touchbacks. Snapping to him is lettermen Nathan Theus (6-3, 236, Sr.). Although he controlled the starting spot in 2014, Trent Frix (6-0, 209, Jr.), Matthew Herzwurm (6-0, 225, RSo.) and John Courson (5-11, 189, So.) will look to work themselves into the mix during spring drills. Thanks to the Bulldogs high-octane offense, Collin Bar-ber (6-2, 208, Jr.) and then senior Adam Erickson were not called on to punt often. Although they split time at the position, Barber accounted for 34 of Georgias 43 punts in 2014 and averaged 39.3 yards per punt. Thirteen of his punts resulted in fair catches, and five of them stretched beyond 50 yards. Isaiah McKenzie established himself as Georgias lead return man during his first year in red and black. He became the first Bulldog in the modern era to return both a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the same game, which he did against Kentucky for 59 and 90 yards, respectively. On the year, he averaged 12.1 yards on 19 punt returns, including two touchdowns, and 28 yards a return on 11 kickoffs. Reggie Davis also took 12 punts for a nearly 8-yard return average and three kickoffs for 16.3 yards a return.

2015 Bulldog Spring StorylinesNew Leader On Offense Georgia led the SEC and was eighth nationally in Scoring at 41.3 points a game in 2014. With the departure of offensive coordinator Mike Bobo to become the head coach at Colorado State, the Bulldogs hired Brian Schottenheimer from the St. Louis Rams in January 2015 to lead the offense. Bobo took over the Bulldogs play calling at the end of the 2006 season and was named the offensive coordinator before the 2007 season.

Veteran Offensive Line, New Coach The Bulldogs return four starters on the offensive line from a squad that won 10 games and averaged 257.8 rushing yards per game, which led the SEC and ranked 11th nationally last year. LT John Theus, LG Brandon Kublanow, RG Greg Pyke and RT Kolton Houston are all expected in Georgias lineup after only three-year starting C David Andrews graduated. Isaiah Wynn and Dyshon Sims will also provide depth after earning playing time last year as true fresh-men. The unit will be led by new offensive line coach Rob Sale. Sale replaces Will Friend who joined Mike Bobo at Colorado State. Friend is now the offensive coordinator for the Rams.

Rushing Attack The Bulldogs finished with 38 rushing touchdowns last season, which ranked second in school history. The 1971 team holds the mark with 39. Georgia returns four out of its top five rushers from 2014, including rising sophomore Nick Chubb. Chubb started the Bulldogs last eight games and finished with 1,547 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns to help Georgia tally 70 touchdowns (10th nationally). Chubb was named a Freshman All-American and the consensus SEC Freshman of the Year. In addition, 2015 sophomore Sony Michel got his first career start alongside Chubb in the Belk Bowl win and completed the year with 410 yards and five scores.

Replacing Tackling Machines There have been two constants at the top of the defensive statistic pages over the last two seasons in ILBs Ramik Wilson and Amarlo Herrera. The 2014 seniors combined for 470 tackles over the last two years, including Wilsons SEC-leading 133 stops in 2013 and Herreras team-leading 115 tackles last year. Reggie Carter and Tim Kimbrough were backups for the aforementioned pair. Starting OLBs Jordan Jenkins (70 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks) and Leonard Floyd (55 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, six sacks) ranked third and fifth in the statis-tics last year and are also slated to return.

Year Two Under Pruitt The 2015 season will mark the second season under defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. The Bulldogs ranked fifth in the SEC in Scoring Defense at 20.7 points a game. Georgia finished with a +16 turnover margin and that ranked fourth nationally. Pruitt will have six starters back from a defense that posted two shutouts and held #23 Missouri and #9 Auburn to a combined seven points.

First Up In The SEC Vanderbilt served as Georgias first SEC op-ponent five times in the 1950s, including the season-opening opponent in 1952 and 1956. This year, the Bulldogs open their SEC schedule against the Com-modores in Nashville, Tenn., on Sept. 12. Also, the Bulldogs will be facing Alabama for the first time in the regular season since the Tide came to Athens in 2008. Georgia last played Alabama for the 2012 SEC Championship in Atlanta.

Turnover Margin In 2014, Georgia ranked fourth nationally in Turnover Margin at +16 or 1.23 per game. This was the fourth best in school history. Georgias 1980 na-tional championship team led the country. That team finished +23 during the regular season (2.09 per game) and that still ranks fifth best in NCAA history. Prior to 2014, Georgias top turnover margin for a season under Mark Richt was +11 (2003, 2005, 2012) and per game is 0.85 (2005).

Non-Conference Success Under the direction of Mark Richt, Georgia owns a 56-11 record against teams from outside the Southeastern Conference. They are 39-2 at home since 2001. The Bulldogs completed 2014 with a 4-1 non-conference mark, including their 37-14 win over #20 Louisville in the Belk Bowl. In 2015, three of Georgias four regular season non-conference foes will come to Sanford Sta-dium. The slate features Louisiana-Monroe at home for the season opener (Sept. 5), Southern Uni-versity (Sept. 26) and Georgia Southern (Nov. 21) in Athens and a meeting with Georgia Tech in Atlanta in the regular season finale on Nov. 28. The Bulldogs are 3-0 all-time versus Louisiana-Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana) but have never opened up against the Warhawks. Georgia has never faced Southern University out of Baton Rouge and has a 5-0 edge all-time against Georgia Southern, including a 45-14 win over the Eagles last time the teams met in 2012. The Bulldogs have won 12 out of the last 14 games over Georgia Tech and hold a 64-38-5 edge in the overall series.

Dogs In The Super Bowl For the 14th consecutive year, Georgia had at least one former player in the Super Bowl. The Bulldogs and LSU have the SECs longest streak of a former player being on a team that advanced to the Super Bowl. This year it was Demarcus Dobbs for the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. Addi-tionally, former Bulldog Travis Jones is on the Seahawks staff as an assistant coach. Dobbs has been in the league four years and been in two Super Bowls, including with the San Francisco 49ers in the 2014 Super Bowl. The last Bulldog to be on a Super Bowl championship team was Chris Clemons in 2014. Georgia is the only school to have produced three Super Bowl MVPs: S Jake Scott, Miami, SB VII; RB Terrell Davis, Denver, SB XXXII; WR Hines Ward, Pittsburgh, SB XL.

Potential For High-Power Offense Again Seven starters return in 2015 off of the record-setting offense from 2014. For the 10th time in school history and first time since 2002, Georgia led the SEC in Scoring Offense. The Bulldogs tallied 537 points last year and averaged 41.3 points per game, both school records. Georgia finished eighth nationally in Scor-ing Offense. The Bulldogs return the SEC leader in scoring touchdowns in sopho-more TB Nick Chubb along with the SEC leader in overall scoring in senior PK Marshall Morgan. This year, Georgia will debut a new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in Brian Schottenheimer who took over for Mike Bobo, who took the head coaching job at Colorado State.

Backfield Back For Bulldogs The Bulldogs led the SEC and ranked 11th nationally with an average of 257.8 rushing yards a game in 2015. Georgia established the highest average since the 1987 team (274.5). Also, the Bulldogs set a school record pace by averaging 6.04 yards a rush. The former record was 5.64 by the 1992 squad. Georgias current depth at tailback includes true rising sophomores in Nick Chubb and Sony Michel and rising junior Brendan Douglas. With the absence of Todd Gurley, Chubb started the final eight games for the Bulldogs and earned national awards with performances during wins at Arkansas, #23 Missouri and Arkansas and against #9 Auburn, Charleston Southern and #20 Louisville in the Belk Bowl. He became the 12th Bulldog in school history to reach 1,000 yards rushing in a season and finished second in the SEC in both yards/game (119.0) and total rushing yards (1,547). Chubb finished the season going for more than 100 yards in eight consecutive games. He is the first Bulldog to accomplish that feat since Herschel Walker in 1982. For the year, Chubb led the SEC in scoring lead (TDs) averaging 7.4 points a game (14 rushing, two receiving). At 1,547 rushing yards on the year, Chubb tied for fourth best in school history with Garrison Hearst (1992). Twice Chubb had 200-yard rushing games in his first season. He ran 30 times for a career-high 202 yards and a career-high two touchdowns in the win at Ar-kansas on Oct. 18. Chubb is the first true freshman to reach 200 yards rushing for the Bulldogs since Rodney Hampton in 1987. During the win over #20 Louisville in the Belk Bowl, he ran for an SEC bowl record 266 yards and two touchdowns and was named the games MVP. Chubbs first career start was also memorable one as he helped lead the Bulldogs to a 34-0 win at #23 Missouri on Oct. 11. The Cedartown, Ga., native had a career-high 38 carries for 143 yards and one touch-down. This was the most carries for a Bulldog since Verron Haynes carried the ball 39 times against Georgia Tech in 2001 and the second-most carries ever by a freshman (43, Herschel Walker, 1980 vs. South Carolina). Michel contributed a 6.4 average totaling 410 yards and five touchdowns in eight games with one start. Douglas and FB Quayvon Hicks also finished with 315 yards and four touchdowns last year and will return. Keith Marshall should also round out the Bulldog running backs. Marshall was limited to 12 carries in the first three games as he was recovering from a knee injury. He looks to return to the healthy form he displayed as a freshman in 2012 when he averaged 6.5 yards a carry, registering 759 yards and eight scores.

Veteran Line Returns For the first time since 2000, Georgia went an entire season with the same offensive line. Four of those five Bulldogs return in 2015. The unit featured sophomore Brandon Kublanow at LG, redshirt sophomore Greg Pyke at RG, junior John Theus at LT, senior David Andrews at C and senior Kolton Houston at RT. Andrews was the lone member of last years line that graduated. Houston returns in 2015 after being granted a sixth year from the NCAA. He has been a member of the program since 2010 but saw his first action since 2013. Theus is the starting LT after starting 22 games at RT during his first two seasons. The Bulldogs tallied an SEC-best 38 rushing touchdowns. That was one shy of the school record set by the 1971 Georgia team. UGA also led the SEC in Rushing Offense with 3,365 yards for an average of 258.8 yards per game. Also, Georgias quarterbacks finished with a completion percentage of 67.4, which established a school record for a season. Quarterback Battle To Watch All eyes will be on the quarterbacks this spring after senior Hutson Mason graduated and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo left to be the head coach at Colorado State. Brian Schottenheimer was hired in January from the St. Louis Rams to take over Georgias offense and coach the quarterbacks. The quarterback corps include redshirt sophomore Brice Ramsey, junior Fa-ton Bauta and redshirt freshman Jacob Park. Ramsey served as the primary backup last year, appearing in eight games and was 24-of-39 for 333 for three touchdowns and two interceptions. He played the entire second half in leading Georgia to a victory over #20 Louisville in the Belk Bowl after Mason was side-lined. Bauta has appeared in six career games over the last two seasons. He is 4-for-5 for 48 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Plus, Bauta has 10 rushes for 46 yards and two scores. Park ran the scout team all of last year. He provides the Bulldogs with a different look under center with his mobility. This will be the second straight year Georgia will have a new starting quar-terback under center. Mason took over in 2014 following Aaron Murray, who became an SEC record holder as a starter from 2010-13. Murray had four straight seasons of 3,000 yards passing.

Looking For Leaders At Receiver Georgias top returning options at receiver include senior Malcolm Mitch-ell, along with sophomore tight end Jeb Blazevich and sophomore tailback Nick Chubb. The senior duo of Michael Bennett and Chris Conley combined for 73 catches, 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014. Mitchell aims for a full season after appearing in nine games with three starts last year. He missed almost all of 2013 with a knee injury. Last season, Mitchell had 31 catches for 248 yards and three touchdowns. The coming season will provide an opportunity for a bigger roll for sopho-more Isaiah McKenzie, junior Reggie Davis and junior Kenneth Towns, who all had six catches each last year. Junior Blake Tibbs, senior Justin Scott-Wesley and sophomore Shakenneth Williams will also be in the mix at receiver this year. Along with Blazevich, Georgia is well-stocked at tight end with the return of se-nior Jay Rome and redshirt sophomore Jordan Davis.

Year Two Of The Pruitt Era Georgia enters its second season under the direction of defensive coordinator/secondary coach Jeremy Pruitt. The Bulldogs led the SEC and finished fourth nationally with a +16 turnover margin. That figure was the fourth best in school history and best since 1982. This was a dramatic improvement from 2013 when the Bulldogs finished the year with a -7 turnover margin. Overall, Georgia improved five spots to finish No. 5 in the SEC in Scoring Defense allowing 20.7 points per game. The Bulldogs scored 110 points off 29 turnovers in 2014. The defense scored four of those touchdowns and three of the four Georgia defenders who scored return (senior DE Josh Dawson - fumble recovery vs. Tennessee; senior DB Devin Bowman - 63-yard interception return vs. Vanderbilt; sophomore DB Dominick Sanders - 54-yard fumble return vs. Arkansas; 2014 senior STAR Damian Swann - 99-yard fumble return).

2014 Review Of The Defense The Bulldogs allowed 20.7 points/game. Georgia posted a pair of shutouts (Troy, @ #23 Missouri), held Missouri out of the Red Zone and kept then #9 Au-burn to seven points and one trip to the Red Zone (drive ended in an interception). Missouri, the SEC East champion, was shut out by the Bulldogs in Columbia. This was the first time the Tigers had been shut out since 2002. Georgia held Auburn to a season-low seven points (which came on its opening drive), and it was the fewest overall in a game during Gus Malzahns two years at the helm. Only four teams, including Auburn, had scored at least 20 points in every game since the 2013 season. Coming into the game, the Tigers were third in the SEC and 13th nationally at 38.7 points per game. Georgias defensive staff underwent a complete overhaul following the 2013 season. This marked the first time since 1964 (Vince Dooleys first year) that the Bulldogs have an entirely new defensive staff. The Bulldog defense allowed only 19 points on 13 Georgia turnovers. For example, Kentucky recovered a fumble at the Georgia 23 yard line. The Wildcats ran eight plays and gained a total of two yards before having to settle for a field goal. Vanderbilt grabbed an interception at the Georgia 24. The Commodores ran six plays for seven yards and had to settle for a field goal. The lone touchdown scored off a turnover came against Charleston Southern in the fourth quarter with Georgia leading 55-3. The Yellow Jackets managed to scored seven points off a pair of Bulldog fumbles on the Georgia Tech 1-yard line and an interception in overtime. Georgia responded to one of the two fumble recoveries with a blocked field goal. In the Belk Bowl, #20 Louisville tallied an interception and recovered a fumble but failed to turn the pair of turnovers into any points.

Dog Duo Delays NFL Plans Senior OLB Jordan Jenkins and junior OLB Leonard Floyd made the deci-sion to return to the Bulldogs instead of bolting for the NFL. These decisions immediately bolstered Georgias backbone on the defense for the coming years. Both were considered early round picks, but will now serve as the Bulldogs leading linebackers. Jenkins is the top returning tackler with 70 tackles, including 9.5 tack-les for loss and five sacks, and finished with a team-high 24 quarterback pressures. Jenkins also had two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 2014. Floyd led the team with six sacks and finished fifth on the club with 55 stops, including 8.5 tackles for loss, and had 17 pressures and three caused fumble. Sophomore OLB Lorenzo Carter is among the other linebackers to watch. Playing in 13 games and starting five, Carter had 41 tackles with seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.Secondary Creating Turnovers Georgias secondary accounted for 15 of the teams 16 interceptions, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries last year. The Bulldogs return a majority of their secondary, losing only STAR Damian Swann and S Corey Moore. Junior Quincy Mauger tied for the team lead in interceptions with four while sophomore DB Dominick Sanders had three picks in his first season. Along with Mauger and Sanders, Georgias returning secondary include senior Devin Bowman, redshirt sophomore Aaron Davis and sophomore Malkom Parrish. Early Enrollees Add Depth To Defense Six of the eight early enrollees for the Bulldogs will play on the defensive side of the ball. The early enrollees are Jonathan Ledbetter (Tucker), Natrez Patrick (Mays), Michael Barnett (Woodland - S.C.), Chuks Amaechi (Arizona Western

College), Jarvis Wilson (Tupelo), Johnathan Abram (East Marion - Miss.) and Jake Ganus (UAB). Ganus comes to the Bulldogs as a senior transfer after lead-ing the Blazers with 70 tackles, including 16.5 tackles for loss and six sacks, in 2014. Ganus tallied 156 stops playing a prominent role on the UAB defense as a freshman and sophomore in 2012-13.

The Bulldogs Front A position to keep an eye on would be the defensive front. Georgia lost captain Mike Thornton and Ray Drew, along with Toby Johnson, from last years squad. Senior Sterling Bailey returns to the lineup after recording 27 tackles last year and is the only veteran with extensive experience. He has played in 29 games with 10 starts. In addition, senior Josh Dawson has appeared in 38 games with five starts and finished last year with 17 stops.

Morgan Moving Up Record Books Junior PK Marshall Morgan along with junior P Collin Barber have served as the primary specialists since 2012. Morgan has a chance to end his career as Georgias all-time scoring leader. Currently, Morgan ranks fourth in school history with 315 points. The Georgia record is 412 set by Blair Walsh (seventh nationally all-time). Morgan (177) is closing in on the Bulldog career PAT mark held by Walsh (184). Morgan led the SEC in 2014 for scoring with 115 points. He is the 11th Bull-dog to claim an SEC scoring title (first since Brandon Coutu, 2005). Morgan set the SEC record at #24 South Carolina last year, hitting his 19th and 20th straight FGs. In the Georgia Tech game, he had an eventful performance featuring six points, a 28-yard run on a fake field goal attempt, a tackle on a kickoff and the first kick of his career blocked. Morgan also set school records in PATs and PATs attempted in 2014, going 67-for-68. He helped Georgia set a school record with 537 points last year. That mark, along with a 41.3 average for the Bulldogs, led the SEC. In his career, Barber has punted 123 times for 5,103 yards (average of 41.5). Twice in 2014, the Bulldogs did not have to punt in a game (@ Kentucky, vs. Charleston Southern).

Rising sophomore Isaiah McKenzie made history by becoming only the 12th player in NCAA FBS history to have a punt return and a kickoff return for a touchdown in the same game in the win at Kentucky. He finished tied for second nationally with three return touchdowns last season. McKenzie went 90 yards on the opening kickoff to give the Bulldogs an early 7-0 edge against Kentucky. He was the first Bulldog to start a game with a KOR TD since 1988 when Tim Worley raced 93 yards against Ole Miss. Then in the third quarter versus UK, he added a 59-yard punt return for a touchdown, marking his second of the year. In the win over Arkansas, McKenzie had three KOR for 93 yards, including a 48-yarder. In the punt return game, sophomore Reggie Davis and McKenzie combined for 325 yards on 31 returns and two touchdowns last season. Also, McKenzie had a 52-yarder for a touchdown against Troy. In the SEC, McKenzie ranked among the top five for most of the season in both categories. He finished at a 28.1 average in kickoff returns and a 12.1 average in punt returns.
