Introduction

The Canadian Cancer Society Division Impact Awards Program is designed to encourage Divisions to recognize individuals and groups in a meaningful way for their contribution in the fight against cancer.

The program provides an opportunity to recognise recipients in a way that is consistent across all Divisions and is intended to reflect the continued esteem held for each recipient and their contributions, even as the Society changes and evolves.

The program will provide a platform to build on accomplishments and inspire recipients to strive for the highest honour across the Canadian Cancer Society that we can present to an individual or group: a National Impact Award for service in Public Policy, Program Delivery, Revenue Generation and Leadership.

Guiding Principles for Award Categories and Criteria

Canadian Cancer Society award categories and criteria will:

• assess the impact of the recipients contribution relative to the size and nature of said recipient community, province, country

• honour and remember those recipients whose actions have made a sustained, innovative and lasting impact on the Society

• recognize those who have significantly helped to further the mission of the Society and whose actions align with the strategic direction of the Society

• acknowledge those recipients who have engaged and motivated others towards a common vision or action

• embody the values of the Society: caring, courage, integrity and progressive.

Guidelines on Award Categories

Nominations for non-Revenue Generation awards has no minimum amount of years in which a recipient is required to be involved with the Society in order to be considered for a Divisional award. Longevity and length of service will continue to be recognized and celebrated at a the community level across Divisions.

Most awards within the Revenue Generation category will require a minimum 2 years of involvement with the Society in order to be considered for a Division award.

Award Criteria and Previous Recognition at Community Level (Regional Level): please read the award criteria in this information package carefully to determine which award the nominee is eligible for. Please note that in most cases, nominees are required to have previously received recognition at the community level (Community Impact Award, previously named: Regional Award) before being considered for a Division Impact Award. Some exceptions may apply if the individual or group has made contributions in a non-geographically specific role (example: Cancer Connection program) or when the scale of the impact made by the nominee warrants a divisional-level recognition first. If you believe that the scale of the impact made by the nominee warrants a division-level recognition first, please discuss this with your Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. A decision will eventually be determined by the Awards Selection Team.

For more information on the criteria, please contact Valery Ross at [email protected]
