Welcome to the 2015 Destination Imagination North Dakota Affiliate Tournament! We’re so excited you’re here today!

Your hours of hard work, duct tape, and pizza consumption are paying off because you’re here! Whether you’re an improv expert, a creature character, a super scary tale teller, a brilliant rebrander, or mashing up animals, we’re so excited that you’ve put your time and talents into your presentation!

Our new pins are pretty sweet, as well as the new tshirts - make sure to stop by the Shirt Shack and Pin Emporium to check out the latest it has to offer.

Feel free to take a snapshot with your team at the photo booth and make sure to stop by the Innovation Expo as some of the region’s best and brightest are showcasing drones, homemade ice cream, hand crafts, virtual reality headsets, and interactive science experiments. There’s no shortage of stuff to do today, so make sure you take it all in!

meeting in the Library/Media Center on the second floor immediately following the awards ceremony,

lasting about half an hour.

All placing and special award winning teams should report to the photo

booth with TaylorMade Photography for a photo immediately following the

awards ceremony.

DI Bingo To help pass the time, kids can participate in DI Bingo found in their team registration packet. Turn your completed sheet in at the Shirt Shack & Pin Emporium for a prize.

Silent Auction This year we have an increDIble assortment of pins and t-shirts on our Annual Destination Imagination Silent Auction. The Silent Auction begins at 9 am and closes at 2:00 pm. Watch bidding throughout the day if you wish to win one or more of the items.

Shirt Shack and Pin Emporium Be sure to visit the Shirt Shack and Pin Emporium for the opportunity to purchase pins and shirts. With some of them being surprise pins or surprise shirts from around the USA and the world!

TaDa! And Team manager Appreciation Celebrate being done with your Instant Challenge. Your TaDa!! may be a short skit, or just an introduction of your team members. This will be a GREAT time for a photo, so have your team manager and fans wait for you in this area. After you’re done, go make a special thank you gift for your Team Manager!

Taylor Made Photography Come to the Auxiliary Gym from 9:00am – 2:00pm and have your team professionally photographed in a full studio by Taylor Made Photography. Come as you are or in full DI costume – it is up to you - use your imagination!

DucTapia Stop at the DucTapia activity station in the West Gym from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and learn how to make odd and/or useful items with duct tape!

Innovation Expo Come to the West Gym from 10am-2pm to conduct science experiments, play with drones, create a virtual reality headsets and more!

Parade of Teams There will be a Parade of Teams to start the Closing Ceremonies at 3:30 pm. Teams should line up outside the auditorium at the North entrance and have their completed team information sheet that is found within their team registration packet. They will be announced as they enter, and should proceed around the outside of the auditorium prior to seating themselves.

Destination Imagination North Dakota is proud to introduce our first innovation expo for students in science, technology, engineering and arts.

Some of the state’s fastest growing start ups along with the area’s favorite artisans will be leading demonstrations and interactive areas to showcase things like drones, virtual reality, fiber art, ice cream making, laser etching, and super fun science experiments.

What is Instant Challenge?

These challenges are where the students think on their

feet. They have no idea what’s coming, but have a challenge to solve in a short amount of time.

From building a bridge that floats to writing and producing a play, Instant Challenge is one

tough time!

What is a Central Challenge?These are the challenges the

students have been working on since early in the school year. They focus on seven different

specialities from technical and engineering to improv and

theater arts.

Who are these

people running around with funny

hats? These people are the

tournament Officials and Appraisers. They’re everyday people like you who believe in teaching creativity, teamwork,

and problem solving and so they volunteer their time and

we love them.

Who writes these challenges?

The challenges are written fresh every year by a group

of DI supporters, alumni, professionals and volunteers.

Over a year of planning and writing goes into each

challenge to ensure the challenges meet national

education standards while being fun at the same time!

What: Destination Imagination teaches our participants curiosity, courage and creativity: Our challenges invoke curiosity so that kids develop an interest in their world and can imagine opportunities to improve it; courage is gained when they learn their unique strengths and abilities and then step outside their comfort zones to pursue ideas and make presentations; and creativity is gained when they take a novel idea through to fruition.

How: We annually provide seven fun and engaging open-ended challenges that are designed to bridge the increasing gap

between our emerging digital and human ecosystem and what kids are learning

in school. Each challenge fosters additional work with STEM subject matter.

Why: We are mission driven to enable students to learn and develop their interests and strengths as they progress through high-school and college

so that they will be pursuing their passions versus waiting on the world

to tell them what they can do.
