tedious job for traffic police department.
Overviewing the traffic rules are being
followed, putting fine on vehicles on breaking
traffic rules and disturbing traffic norms there
is need of some provision to make it run
smooth. So, the moto of proposed model is to
create software which identifies text within an
image, for identifying the plate number.
Runtime saving the plate number being
recognised along with the timestamp. Helps
to track the vehicle information like owner
name, address, vehicle type, state and city to
which vehicle belongs and PUC receipt.
This application reduces a tedious and hectic
job of traffic police department providing
them automated application for keeping
traffic rules intact and areas where
maintaining traffic is highly impossible and
especially is peak office hours like morning
and evening. A smooth maintenance of traffic
is possible which is not troublesome for either
public or traffic authorities.

Abstract:
The Training and Placement Cell is a very
tedious workplace where all the students’
personal information and their credentials
have to be managed with utmost perfection so
that there are not any discrepancies when the
students apply for the companies. Managing
all this information is not at all easy and the
TNP coordinators are fallible when filling out
the details of the respective student’s
information. As it is known the Recruiters are
very pedantic when it comes to the student’s
information. Any small mistake could cost the
student his/her job from the campus
Proposed web application aims to remove
these short comings and provide a much
easier and faster approach for the TNP
coordinators when the campus placements are
going on. The campus placements consist of 3
levels, namely Admin (college), Recruiters
and Students. The admin has the authority to
create/delete users, authenticate the student’s
information, regulate the dates of the
Recruiters and update and post the events and
news related to placements. The students have
the facility to fill and update their personal
details, register for companies and download
pdf’s and brochures which are provided by
the admin for further details related to
company. The Recruiters are able to register
for our college, select the criteria for applying
for their companies.

Abstract:
Stock market is highly unpredictable. The
values of the stocks vary with the buying and
selling values and the demand volume of the
stock in the market. But each stock when
analyzed for a certain period of time shows
ups and downs which follow mathematical
trend. By analyzing this, trend using special
statistical functions which are made an
attempt to predict the near future values of the
stocks. The project is summarized in
following steps:
i. Requirements- The requirements of the
application are simple. The application should
be able to predict the near future values of the
Indian stocks either visually (Graphical
manner) or numerically.
ii. Data gathering-The data for about 1400
Indian stocks was gathered through Yahoo
finance. The stocks are divided into train set
and test set for the purpose of calculation and
comparison respectively.
The stock values in train set are converted
into time series objects in the R programming
language as it gives greater control over
chronologically ordered data. The time series
is then transformed into polynomial trend,
STL trend and actual function.
On all these transformed time series a
statistical functions are applied like
HoltWinters, Arima, Neural Networks, Linear
modelling, TSLM etc. and compute about 23
predictions for each stock. These values are
then subtracted from the test data set and the
Mean Absolute Error (MAE) for each
prediction is calculated. The prediction that
has the least MAE is declared as the winning
model.

number of applications in Smart Phones.
Hence it is decided to use this powerful
technology to develop an application which
will provide daily notices of notice board of
our college as well as get the messages from
teachers/professors regarding academics.
The prime objective of “e-Notice Board App”
is to create a full-fledged Android application
which will provide anywhere and anytime
access to notice board. Currently, there is no
mechanism to check the notices or results
other than visiting the notice boards because
of which students stay in city or outside the
city do not get notices on time.
Also when the faculty wants to display an
urgent notice other than office hours, they
have to wait till the next day. Using this app,
students will be able to see all the notices on
the app and faculty will be able to upload any
notice from anywhere.
Only Faculty will be able to upload the notice
for security purpose using login and password
to avoid misuse of an application and
maintain quality of content.
The user not only finds all the notices but also
can see the notices differentiated according to
their academic year. Key features of
application are it is accessible without
internet, so anyone can access notices and
efficiency in retrieving notices and results
anywhere and anytime.

Abstract:
In order to avoid the malpractices during
online and practical examinations a key
logger implemented that will track the
keyboard activities of the user. The contents
of the kbd file is accessed which contains the
information about all the key events.
We have compared the stored key patterns
with the file which dynamically stores the
running key codes from kbd file which in turn
generates a log file which contains all the
keys that the user typed. Client-Server
architecture is used for this purpose. Server
accesses the client using the ssh command.
The keylogger must be in running state at
client side.
After that the server runs, the actual key
logger code generates a log file and checks
for the client’s keyboard activities. This
application can be used as a tool in forensic
investigation and in colleges during online
examinations and practicals.

Abstract:
This project emphasizes on the problem
solving of the day to day management of data
by many foods, product companies. The
inspiration of this project was the company
RMC FOODS AND FATS PVT LTD. The
company has to manage and keep every small
piece of detail about the daily quantity of the
food produced and materials used. For this the
company had to use the excel sheets for
storing the information which became a
tedious task usually.
So we decided to make a web application to
maintain their data and keep their database
track. The web application that we designed is
hosted on a local web server by making use of
DJANGO framework. The entire backend is
prepared in python and the database was
stored in SQLITE3 due to its relational
nature. For the front end and user interface
HTML5 and CSS is used.
The web application provides following
features:
i. Storing database of raw materials and
goods.
ii. Retrieving database.
iii. Analysing and restricting the entries once
in a day as per the rules of the company
thus providing security.

Abstract:
In this modern era, automation has become a
crucial need most of the things nowadays are
automated. Even today in colleges teachers
take the attendance manually and then the
data is fed to some centralized server. The
PUNE INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY, COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, PUNE

entire process made manual which may result
in some typographical errors. So to avoid this
and automate the process of attendance we
have implemented an active RFID attendance
system.
This system is consists of an RFID tag, a
reader and a machine consisting of students
database. The tag which is used is, an active
RFID transponder tag which is self-powered.
As transponders are active only when they
come in contact of the reader, they help in
saving the battery and increase the life span of
the tag.
The tag contains a unique number which will
be used for marking the attendance and well
as a user name for the users. The reader can
read the tag from a distance of 7cm so as the
students enter unique id will be read by the
reader which then will be serially transmitted
to the centralized database.
In this way the entire process of marking the
attendance can be automated. Future
enhancements can be done in case of the
frequency of the reader, which can be
increased in order to provide more
sophistication to the application.

Abstract:
The project is designed to build an obstacle
avoidance robotic vehicle using IR sensors for
its movement. A microcontroller of 8051
family is used to achieve the desired
operation. A robot is a machine that can
perform task automatically or with guidance.
Robotics is generally a combination of
computational intelligence and physical
machines (motors).
Computational intelligence involves the
programmed instructions. The project
proposes robotic vehicle that has an
intelligence built in it such that it guides itself
whenever an obstacle comes ahead of it. This
robotic vehicle is built, using a
microcontroller of 8051 family.
An IR sensor is used to detect any obstacle
ahead of it and sends a command to the
microcontroller. Depending on the input
signal received, the microcontroller redirects
the robot to move in an alternate direction by
actuating the motors interfaced to it through a
motor driver IC.

This concept in future can be extended in
such a way that if a destination is fed to the
robot, the robot can map the whole terrain and
can reach its destination by deciding a
suitable path and avoiding obstacles.

Abstract:
To create the tool of the required text to sign
language conversion, we have created
software which first accepts words. These
words are categorized by their part of speech
using a predefined toolkit. According to the
part of speech, the word is referenced in the
table belonging to the particular part of
speech.
If the word is found, the index corresponding
to the word is used to access the video
database. If the word isn’t found, the word is
broken down into alphabets and printed with
the help of sign language alphabets.
The index is used to embed and showcase a
video corresponding to that word on the
Home Page. The tool also provides an option
for the user to upload their own videos/images
for certain words not available in the
database.

Abstract:
The issue of Leave application requesting and
approval is very paramount is every
organization and especially in a College.
Therefore we aid to solve this problem by
making a LEAVE APPLICATION
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM website. The
website contains every teacher's separate
login id and password according to their
respective departments. The General details
of every teacher are already described in the
home page of the teacher.
This information can be edited by rendering a
simple request to the developers through the
website itself. The teachers can request a
leave application by giving the reason of
leave along with the duration of leave. Here
there is a check on the allowed leaves per
every department and the number of leaves
keeps on decreasing as the requests are
approved.
As soon as a teacher requests for a leave a
mail is sent from the teacher's mail id to the
respective department HOD. This eases the
HOD's task to approve the application. The
HOD then visits the site and he gets all the
PUNE INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY, COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, PUNE
VOL.3 Page 22
lists of applications being made and he can
approve the leave or reject it according to the
reason and number of allowed leaves.
This sends another mail from the HOD's mail
id to the respective teacher's id saying that
you have an update on your application so
that he can check the status of his application.
Thus this makes it easy for teachers as well as
HOD's to get through with the leave's
problem.

Abstract:
The main objective of project is to predict the
human resource requirements for the firm
efficiently. Main aspects are: To decide the
recruitment strategies for new employees. The
basic idea behind the software development is
to predict the number of members in each
team for the current project as well as for the
upcoming projects for the next 6 months
based on the market trends.
Since most of the customers are regular
customers and have specific requirements
based on past experiences, the trends can be
calculated based on the historical data. For
example, we have a customer named ‘Client
1’ who has projects for the company every
year in the month of June and July and some
other customer named ‘Client 2’ brings a
bigger project to the company and wants it
done in the month of July. Then, we have to
use the maximum workforce on the project
given by Client 1 in the month of June and
later on shift most of the workforce to work
on Client 2’s project in the month of July.
To do so we have to anticipate and predict
that Client 2 will be bringing a much bigger
project in the month of July and utilise the
current employees to meet the demands of
both the customer as hiring new employees is
a tedious task and a lot of resources gets
wasted in recruiting new employees. To
anticipate such a thing, the market trends and
historical data will be quite helpful given that
each company maintains its customer
database. In such a scenario, where all
resources including the employees are shared
in multiple projects it is necessary to calculate
abilities of the employee based on his records.
We also have to maintain their database
wherein we have to include that which
employee in working on a given project.
Thus, planning of human resource
management and predicting their
requirements in the near future is necessary. If
required new employees may be hired only if
their extensibility to future projects can be
predicted.

Abstract:
Objective of proposed model is to create a
database of the stock available in the store,
manage and monitor the stock and to create
an online-billing system which makes the bill
for all the jewellery items. The basic idea of
this project is to satisfy the need of the
customer and build a web-application which
helps the customer/owner to manage his
business.
This web-application also generates a bill for
each unique jewellery item based the on the
on-line MCX value of gold. In jewellery store
is often very difficult to manage the stock.
The owner wants to monitor his stock and
also wants to keep track of each and every
item in his stock. The database is created for
stock of jewellery currently present or sold in
the store. On each item there are different
attributes which helps the user to monitor the
stock and also manage it.
The following attributes have been allotted to
monitor the stock: Unique Identification
Number (UIN), Name of item, Design, Net
weight, Gross weight, Quantity and Semi-
precious or Precious Stones. These attributes
helps to classify each item in the stock and
helps to manage the stock. A database which
contains recently sold items is also built
concurrently with the stock management
database.
For example for a Gold chain we give the
following attributes: (7433362, Gold Chain,
Light weight, 6.7 g , 6.9 g , 1, Nil). After the
creation of the database it is important to link
the database with the billing application and
make necessary changes when the item is
being sold.
The billing system should also be up to date
with the changes in the stock market and the
changing gold rate, for this the application
fetches “live” gold rates from the internet per
gram and calculates the gold rate for each
item.
There can be further possibilities in this
project, can also create a Bar-Code reader and
allotter using the open source software
“ZXing” and read the input values of the UIN
from Joystick (barcode scanner).

Abstract:
Sentiment Analysis is to analyse the crowd
sentiments over a given topic or product or
news. Sentiment analysis is usually carried
out on big data that is obtained from social
networking sites such as Twitter. We carried
out sentiment analysis of the big data that we
obtained from Twitter.
Big data was basically the tweets that we
pulled through software called Flume. For
choosing the topic on which we limited our
tweets, we had a configuration file that let us
access the Twitter data. This helped us to
obtain the data that was to be analysed.
The pulled tweets were originally in the JSON
format, which were later converted into
human readable format for analysis. After
pulling the tweets through Flume, we worked
on Hortonworks technology which was
basically an ecosystem with the components
that were required for analysis.
The data in human readable format was
loaded into the tables so as to segregate the
tweets. The query language that we used was
HBase and the data warehouse was Hive. The
tweets that were loaded in the tables were
broken down to words that were positive,
negative and neutral. The words were then
mapped to a weighted dictionary which gave
us the category to which the word belongs.
The words were assigned different polarities
for better segregation, for example, bad was -
1, worse was -3, and worst was -5 and so on.
In this manner we got the exact sentiments
behind the tweets.
The next task was to display the analysis. For
this purpose we used a software called
QlikView which gave us the output in the
form of pie charts, bar graphs etc. according
to the polarities of a given word or overall
sentiment of a requested topic.
Later we also tried to perform data mining on
the data that we pulled by forming clusters
using a software called Orange, where we
could produce the output for a particular
location.
The basic sentiment analysis was successfully
performed on various topics such as Modi,
amazon etc.

Abstract:
Proposed project on stock market analysis is
implemented by a website. The basic idea
behind the project was to give all possible
information of stocks of particular companies
at one place so that it is easy for the customer
to go through data and study them.
The information that we intend to put on are
values like current price, yesterday's closing
and opening prices, volume change etc. A
graph is plotted on the recent values of the
stock to give an idea about the ongoing status.
The new thing which is was added in this
website was the calculation of optimized
value of a given data set by the help of a
genetic algorithm. This value basically was a
future predicted value of particular stock. The
fitness of this value would help a customer to
analyse a stock. Comparison between two
stocks was done based on the values obtained
and thus a suggestion as conclusion was given
to the customer.
The main page consists of four maps which
are as follows: Stats, Compare, Prediction and
contact. The stats part contains chart of the
data of whatever stock is selected by the
customer. Compare part is for the comparison
of two stocks that is which one would be
better to go with.
Prediction part is calculates the optimized
value and displays it. Contact part is for the
customer to contact us regarding any queries
or suggestions about the website.

E-leave management system is designed for
PICT college staff includes all three staff
levels like administrator, teaching staff, non-
teaching staff. There is separate login page for
all as per their designation and everyone can
apply for leave easily avoiding all the
paperwork they had to do before this e-leave
website.
Module keeps all records for leave such has
leave count with the reason of leave, number
of leaves remained, leave percentage for
every teacher etc, Also by tracking the
timetable and teacher profile it suggests the
proper replacement for leave applicant to
avoid any collision issue related to leave.
The flaws in old system: The old system was
based on pen and paper format. Applicant has
to fill up a leave form with every detail about
leave and his personal information and this
process should be repeated every time while
applying the leave. So it is tedious work.
Paper wastage is more applicants have to wait
for long time to know about his leave status.
Keeping track of leaves was very hard.
Advantages of proposed system: E-leave
system is completely computer based system
so everything is on network and can be access
easily. The user interface is simple and
powerful enough so that the applicant can
apply for leave very easily and in much less
time. Main advantage is that it is eco-friendly
because there is no use of paper in whole
process. Applicant get time to time updates
about the status of leave. As every transaction
of leave is stored in database keeping track of
leave record is easy.

Abstract:
Nowadays web services technology is widely
used to integrate heterogeneous systems and
develop new applications. Here an application
of integration of hotel management systems
by web services technology is presented.
System is implemented using android
application for Tablet PC’s.
The front end will be developed using JAVA
Android and the backend will work on
MySQL database. This study names the
electronic menu card. In definition, it is an
integrated system, developed to assist
restaurant management groups by enabling
customers to immediately make orders on
their own selves.
This will minimize the number of minutes to
wait for the meal serving of restaurants. Every
customer has this menu card app, after
placing orders (a list of dishes and drinks
ordered by the diner or group of diners) into
the system at the PC. The system must
confirm the availability of dishes. Starters
and main course orders are usually taken
together. Drinks and desert orders may be
taken separately. Kitchen staff sees the dish
orders on their screen, prepare them in an
appropriate sequence and confirm preparation
to the system when complete.
At the end of the meal the system generate a
bill on customer phone, and he will enter the
details of payment for it.
