Welcome! We are glad you’re here! We invite you to

seek out the folks wearing the “Ask Me” badge.

Through them you will find information about the

ministries of Salem Heights Church and how to

become involved. Please fill out a Visitor Card and drop

it in one of the offering boxes as you leave or scan this code to go

directly to our website and fill out a visitor card. We have an excellent

nursery and programs for children newborn through high school. Any

of the ushers will be happy to direct you to the proper classroom. If

you feel more comfortable having your infant with you during the

service, the last row in the Auditorium will be reserved for parents with

small children. There is a private room for nursing mothers across the

hall from the Auditorium with a rocking chair, changing table and

portable crib. For your convenience, it also includes a monitor to

enable you to still hear and view the service.

Our Purpose...

To reach people with the love of Jesus Christ, provide a safe and

supportive environment, proclaim the standards of God’s truth,

duplicate the Christian life in others, and celebrate the majesty

“Sudden Recognition”

Zechariah - Part 3

Presented by Pastor Justin Greene

they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.” Zechariah 12:10

Giving Update

THE MINISTRY OF SALEM HEIGHTS CHURCH The ministry of Salem Heights Church is funded entirely by the generous giving of God’s people. You will notice that we do not pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the back of the auditorium. We have done this so no one gives out of compulsion. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first fruits. “...God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7) and we know He blesses those who take His Word seriously in every regard. Thank you for prayerfully supporting Salem Heights financially as we desire to reach the lost and disciple the Saints.

The Divine Tapestry PART 123

“SUDDEN RECOGNITION ”

Zechariah – Part 3 Zechariah 12-13:1

Presented by Pastor Justin Greene

April 13, 2014

In February 2002 seventy-seven-year old Frances Foster of Brooklyn was found unconscious on her bathroom floor and mistakenly declared dead by paramedics. For hours the error went undetected until she was being placed in a body bag. According to the woman’s daughter, a medical examiner’s official said her mother “suddenly moved and opened her eyes and he jumped back, startled.” His shock is understandable! The woman had suffered a stroke and was immediately hospitalized when the mistake was discovered. Of course, this woman did not actually die and come back to life, but the nation of Israel has died twice and been resurrected each time. From the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 B.C. until Zerubbabel, Joshua, Zechariah, and the group of about fifty thousand Jews returned soon after 539

2

B.C., the nation of Israel was dead and buried. Then God supernaturally raised this lifeless nation back to life just as he had promised through the prophet Ezekiel (Ezek. 37:1-14). After the Roman destruction, Israel was once more dispersed among the nations, and for almost two thousand years the nation did not exist. But on May 14, 1948, Israel declared itself an independent state and incredibly came back to life once more. Historically, dead nations usually stay that way, and no record of any other nation’s revival after such a long period is known. Yet everywhere in Scripture Israel is presented as dwelling in their land when Christ returns. As in Zechariah’s day, Israel’s reestablishment in modern times is a result of God’s incredible power. Israel is in a very precarious position today. It is beset by internal and external threats of titanic proportions. We might wonder if this tiny nation can possibly survive. In chapters 12-14 Zechariah provides a panoramic overview of Israel’s future. So read and be amazed as God’s prophet of twenty-five hundred years ago answers the question, What will happen to Israel?

3

DON’T MISS THIS...

• The Messiah as Servant, Branch , Stone, Temple Builder, Priest and King (Chapters 3 and 6).

• The Messiah comes bringing salvation riding on a donkey (9:9).

• From Judah (messianic line) will come the Cornerstone , Tent Peg, Battle Bow (Chapter 10).

• The Good Shepherd sold for 30 pieces of silver (Chapter 11).

• The Messiah to be mourned over (Chapter 12).

• The Good Shepherd to be struck ... sheep scattered (Chapter 13).

• The Millennial Kingdom ... Canaanite free (Chapter 14).

4

BACKDROP

Zechariah 12:1-9

• The God of creation and consciousness makes a declaration...

 Armageddon will happen.

The nations will be drunk with power ... but will

herniate themselves trying to move a stone .

Weaklings will look like warriors because of the

intervention of God.

Note: This section is a short restatement of earlier passages ... it is only the setting for the Jewel .

5

THE GEMSTONE

• The first nine verses give us a picture of national salvation . The next six verses give us a picture of personal salvation . Watch as a wave washes over this group revealing:

The amazing work of the Spirit (v. 10).

The sudden recognition of the Savior (v. 10).

6

The personal awareness of sin (vv. 11-14).

The healing fountain of salvation (13:1).

7

HOW ABOUT YOU?

• Someday every knee will bow before the One who was “pierced for our transgressions” (Isaiah 53:5).
